Have had a lot of masks over the last 15 years. This mask for me is not a mask I will purchase again. The forehead adjustment causes some annoyance and the mask itself causes soreness to the bridge on my nose. Have adjusted many times and still cannot find a position which is comfortable. Therefore for me this mask does not suit. I am sure it will suit others. But with most masks its a lottery. The price is high and I will only be using it as a back up. Will have to purchase another.

I've used a plethora of masks during my many years as a CPAP patient, and this one reminds me of Dickens famous opening line in a Tale of Two Cities, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." This is the tale of two masks in one, some parts of it the best, some the worst. The best is that this mask is cleverly constructed to prevent those irritating marks on your face experienced with many masks. My last equipment bore into the skin along the line between my nose and cheek to the point of making it raw. The manufacturer suggested loosening the headgear to relieve the pressure, but when doing so, the resulting leaks would blow up into my eyebrows or hairline. How can one sleep with that? The manufacturer suggested loosening the headgear to relieve the pressure, but when doing so, the resulting leaks would blow up into my eyebrows or hairline. How can one sleep with that? The manufacturer went so far as to say that leaks should be considered normal and to not over-tighten the headgear apparatus. Well, my doctor prescribed a certain pressure, and it certainly could not be sustained when a loose mask would allow pressure loss. Quite a dilemma. So along comes the Mirage Activa and the leaking problem is solved, along with the wear marks on my face, by the ingenious addition of a thin and flexible sheath which allows the base of the mask to remain comfortably affixed while allowing the top of the mask, that part holding the tube, to float and flex. It works like a bellows, allowing the opposing pressures to normalize during the movement of inhalation and exhalation. Very smart. Five stars. But oh, then comes the worst. Let me count the ways...First, the two bottom straps on the headgear sport square ends that snap into slots when securing the mask to your face. I had grown accustomed to the typically round ends on previous straps that were easy to snap into place, even in the dark or while lying in bed. The square rigging on the Mirage Activa requires a lot more effort and I find it nearly impossible to slide the snaps into place because one can neither grasp them sufficiently when stretched, and the receptacles are located in an awkward place on the mask. Moreover, because of the construction of the bellows-like components on the mask itself, there are two release buttons on the sides that will allow the bottom part of the mask to be separated from the top. So when trying to fumble the square snaps into place to affix the mask, one naturally holds the mask with one's other hand to stabilize the procedure-- and the only place to do so is exactly where the two release buttons are located! So the whole thing flies apart! This egregious design flaw is then magnified when you must attempt to unite the top and lower portions back together by inserting the top half into an impossibly thin groove on the bottom. Oh, the frustration! One star, at best.Well, after wrestling this thing for a few weeks now, I've more or less come to a stalemate. Keep it or send it back? I purchased insurance (which I think is excessively high priced by the way), and could certainly return it. But then again, I do appreciate that the mask doesn't injure my face because of that bellows-like engineering. So I've chosen to keep it. No face scarring, the best of times, and incredible frustration with affixing the ill-conceived fasteners and the whole works flying apart while doing so, the worst of times.Three stars overall, and that's being generous. Not exactly a happy ending. But maybe the company will eventually improve its design. I can hope.Dickens would say it better, "... it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair."

All-in-all this is one of the best masks I have ever used. That being said there is still room for improvement from my perspective. Or perhaps more specifically I would like to see an extra large size added to the offerings. The large size is not large enough for me and it puts undue pressure on the bridge of my nose thereby creating sores. Needless to say I would prefer to have a better fitting CPAP mask for my larger nose so I can get a better night's sleep.

Great Alternative to Mirage Quattro - Leaked At First, Easy Fix
2 May 2020

My Mirage Quattro broke, after several years of use. I jury-rigged it for several months but it leaked air and the strap would not stay on. So, I got a new script from my doctor for a new mask. It arrived (as promised within two days). It arrived fully assembled and I tested it out. The reviews said it was noisy and leaked. Sure enough, I noticed it was, in fact, noisy and leaked air...the first night. As a result, the first night was NOT restful sleep. The next day I closely examined it and discovered the swivel adapter was not correctly seated together. So, I disassembled by separating the retaining clip and removing the swivel adapter completely from the mask. Then, I corrected seat the silicone insert and reassembled the unit together. Its not a huge deal and requires about 5 minutes and no special tools.

Great Seal, Comfort and Fit but Causes Awful Forehead Dent
4 March 2020

Philips Respironics ComfortGel Blue Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear bout Jan 12, 2019. I have 2 of these that I got on sale and I love the feel and comfort of the nose piece and headgear. It's absolutely quiet and no issues with leaks or the exhale ports. The head gear fit is great from the nose mask around the head and never shifts even though I'm a side sleeper. But I have a huge problem with the long silicone forehead rest. It's caused a long narrow dent horizontally across my forehead that looks like a wrinkle on steroids, and it just keeps getting worse even though it doesn't feel tight! Also, that forehead piece also traps my hair and breaks it off creating unwanted ragged bangs. I would stay with this mask forever but for the dent problem because of its many ... MorePhilips Respironics ComfortGel Blue Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear bout Jan 12, 2019. Also, that forehead piece also traps my hair and breaks it off creating unwanted ragged bangs. I would stay with this mask forever but for the dent problem because of its many other fine features. I have managed workarounds with previous masks where I could just remove the forehead piece and connect the straps directly to the vertical piece that connects the mask to the forehead piece but I cant do that with this mask. So I'm currently trying the Philips Respironics DreamWear Nasal CPAP Mask. This one isn't as quiet and doesn't feel as stable but there's nothing to dent my forehead so I'm hoping I can make it work! Note: the Velcro is ridiculously weak which seems to be more and more common. My first masks years ago never had this problem.

Not what you would expect...

This thing is bulky and unwieldy. The mask is difficult to use and uncomfortable. Getting the lower straps clicked in requires patience and dexterity. If you want to disconnect in the middle of the night, you have no unhook and remove the mask unless you want to drag the pump with you. Unhooking to hose is a drag and is supposed to be done by releasing a small circular clip out of a groove in the front mask elbow. If it pops out -- you have to find it and reinstall it. If you break it, you are done for. A hose quick disconnect may make it so you can unhook the hose easily, but it will have to add it to the front elbow assembly. The rubber plug comes out easily as nothing holds it in other than tension. If if pops out it -- you have to find it and stick it back in. Read the PDF users guide as it shows the assembly and disassembly of all of these pieces. What a pain. The head strap is the only redeeming feature. I like the quick disconnect clips, but not the way they attach to this mask.

Snug Fit, but Quality of Sleep is Worth any Discomfort!
26 December 2020

The first night I attempted to put it on, I sat for a good hour on the side of my bed trying to figure out the straps. I had the mask inside out, upside down, and right-side up! I was about to throw the mask into the trash can, but as with most tasks, decided with the bull-head of mine to plod onward. Eventually I got the mask on; observing that it was a tight fit, but also taking into accord the mask fit snugly, especially around the edges where many times there are far too many leaks within other masks. I decided to "Grin and Bear It." I sincerely believe that whatever discomfort is felt, the principle lies within the fact: The benefit is worth the Risk.I wear my mask now, and feel good about it! When I have to use the bathroom, I just pull the hose off where the nose part of the mask is. It saves a lot of time and trouble because once the mask is taken off, the straps invariably tend to want to stick together. When this happens, you experience what I did in the first paragraph of this review!

The best full-face mask out there
1 November 2021

My previous nasal masks were moving my front teeth, so I moved to this full-face mask after 26 years of CPAP masks with chin straps. I am most satisfied and it's great not needing my chin strap. I normally wear Large Resmed masks, but for the full-face mask, the Medium is absolutely perfect. I'm glad I cut out the paper pattern first, or I wound't have believed it. Anyway, I get a great seal every night and sleep mostly on my sides. No leaks and now I can get a retainer for my front tooth that moved.

Uncomfortable, Leaks, Noisy
6 September 2022

I got this in hopes it would fit better than, and be less noisy than, the ResMed Mirage. Wrong! That middle forehead post borders on painful. No matter how I adjusted it, it would squeak, fart and cause my machine to engage in sudden bursts of air extreme pressure, which was enough to wake me repeatedly. Having used CPAPs and BiPaps for over 10 years, this is the first time ever that the myAir app recorded a 0 out of 20 for mask seal. Guess I will just have to put up with the Mirage's occasion songs until I find something better. Returned this torture device.
