I found it best to remove the product with my finger and apply if to my face that way. Now lets talk about the shade... I am very fair skinned and can use mostly ivory and porcelain tones, but I was unable to use this shade which was a first for me. I don't know anyone who could use this shade unless their Dracula, Casper, or a rodeo clown. If you come across this product on sale or clearance do yourself a favor and keep on trucking.... I have combo skin, and after a few hours of wearing it, I start to look pretty shiny. After another hour or so passes, it starts to separate and break apart around my nose, forehead, and smile lines. You can lightly touch up with powder to help tone down shine, but honestly, blotting paper seems to work better with this foundation. If you touch up with powder, it starts to look cakey, even if you use a small amount. I don't think this would be a good choice for someone who has more oily skin, unfortunately. If you do end up buying this foundation, don't try to use the applicator.... Show more

Because of this, I can definitely tell the difference between the quality and I’m always switching my brands at the drugstore because I’m still yet to find one that I really like. So that alone is always a hassle.I think this foundation has been my final straw with the drugstore foundation search struggle. I think I might just bite the bullet and go back to higher end brands. I picked this one up because of the name “insta photo.” So when I think of that I’m thinking something with almost flawless coverage to create like a filtered look or something.. idk but Revlon really knew what they were doing with that title but it’s false advertising. This foundation will make you want to use a filter in your photos. The “sponge” applicator on the top, pointless and a waste. It’s hard, small, and it doesn’t blend at all. I used my regular blending sponge but even that didn’t blend well. I then tried a foundation brush and a blending brush... nothing would blend this foundation it was just like I was putting a coat of paint on my face. My pores and aging lines on my face became more visible than they were without having this foundation on. It was sticky and it made my face look really oily. Regardless if I applied primer, moisturizer, or just applied it with a “dry” face... I got the same result. I didn’t even put much on, so it’s not like it wasn’t blending because of too much product. I put the same amount I do with other brands. I even tried using setting powder to smooth it out... which kinda worked, so after I applied the powder on top my face actually looked pretty flawless but if I touched my face, the liquid foundation would still transfer to my hand even through the powder. This is the worst foundation I’ve ever used, bottom line.... The main thing I have with this product is the bottle. It took me a while to figure out how to get the product out. You have to spin the bottom and just guess how much is gonna come out. I never use the sponge applicator on top. The foundation itself I like it’s simple and natural looking not too much coverage. It doesn’t have much of a scent and there aren’t many shade ranges for darker skin-tones.... Show more

Average foundation with bad applicator design
21 January 2018
I was initially excited to try this product because it came in such excellent packaging. The item looks well made, contained in a practical tube with a built-in applicator sponge. But after my first attempt to use the foundation, I realized the design was actually more troublesome than it appears. The first problem is the twisting mechanism for dispensing the product. Because there an applicator sponge covering the opening, it is impossible to tell how much of the product is actually coming out of the tube. It took many twists initially for the foundation to actually start dispensing. When it did finally work, it came out in quick gush causing me to waste a good bit of the product. Dispensing becomes more standard afterwards so that 2 twists provides enough foundation for one application, but I am generally disappointed with this aspect of the design. My second issue is with the applicator sponge itself. The only thing the sponge is good for is soaking up the product and wasting it. The applicator does not apply smoothly, and what I end up doing is dispensing some product, squeezing it out of the sponge and then applying it with a makeup brush for more even distribution and blending. What a disappointing design fail! The foundation itself is average. The color sand beige is a pretty good match for my skin tone, but I dislike how the foundation is a bit heavy and actually accentuates any dry spots on my skin making it more visible. It is not something I would choose to buy in the future.... Show more

Beautiful foundation, but not in love with the applicator
22 November 2017
Im kind of in between loving this and being unsure. The foundation itself is beautiful, I noticed that I do need a very hydrating primer and I apply setting spray before adding translucent powder on my oily areas. (This being said, it may not be as great for dry skin unless you moisturize quite a bit before use.) But once my full face is done, its absolutely beautiful. I will say that I dont particularly love the blender applicator, the hole in the center makes a negative space in the foundation so I find myself having to carefully tip the applicator to apply it. This makes less sponge area for me to use thus, making it take longer to apply. I did twist foundation out, rubbed it onto my face and then blended with a beauty blender which gave me the result I was ... MoreIm kind of in between loving this and being unsure. I absolutely love the smell of the foundation, Ive had comparable foundations that smell like paint for your walls and this is such subtle but welcoming smell. All in all, I feel like the actual foundation itself is very nice, it matched my skin tone which has been an issue for me in the past and makes my skin look beautiful. I just wish I could use it without the applicator sponge at the tip. This post was sponsored by Revlon® as part of a sampling activation for Crowdtap. Decent makeup, questionable design
20 November 2017
I loved the thought of this product, because the attached blender made it seem extremely easy to use and very convenient. Upon using, I discovered that while the blender is an extremely good blender and the shape of the bottle feels good in my hand, the design of the bottle is actually a huge flaw. You twist the bottom to get the foundation to come out through a hole in the middle of the blender which seems very convenient, except it makes it almost impossible to get the right amount of foundation on to your blender. Sometimes I only need to twist the bottom once and a huge blob will come out, and sometimes I will be twisting the bottom 10 or 15 times before even the smallest amount of foundation comes out. It would be better if perhaps the blender was detachable, ... MoreI loved the thought of this product, because the attached blender made it seem extremely easy to use and very convenient. It would be better if perhaps the blender was detachable, like a screw on blender you could remove to dab on the correct amount of foundation. Also, I had several issues with my skin. The first was that I do not have very sensitive skin and I can use almost any makeup or lotion product, but this foundation made me break out the same day I used it. The breakout was quick and faded within 2 days, so I tried the foundation again to be sure that's what caused it and it happened again so I am confident that it came from this product. Also, I got their lightest shade and even then it was about three or four times too dark for my skin. I think that Revlon needs to expand their color availability to include more pink/porcelain pale tones instead of only orange ones. Based on the amount of shades they have available, I'm sure people with darker skin tones may have this issue as well. One good thing I did notice however, is that it has really great, full coverage and matte finish. If the brand carried my tone, I would use this foundation, despite the breakouts and design flaws because the finished product does go on very smoothly. I was really curious about this foundation, especially after hearing some interesting and positive reviews about the foundation from a variety of people. I picked the foundation at a Priceline sale and have only just got around to testing it out. It is one of the more interesting foundations I have bought and used, very different to any other foundation I have used before. The foundation retails for $34.95, putting it on the pricier end of drugstore foundations, so I did put slightly higher expectations on the product.First thing first, the shade range isn't the most comprehensive. There are a total of nine shades and they definitely don't cater to the darker end of the spectrum. I have the shade Ivory, which is the lightest of the range. I have to say it's a pretty good match, maybe a touch too light, but the next shade is too warm for my skin tone, so it is the closest match I was going to get.Now let's talk about the packaging. It is a new, innovative packaging that is designed to make it easy to apply and blend out anywhere - at home, in the cab on the way to dinner, or at the office, when you need a quick touch up. It has a sponge on the top of the tube and you twist the bottom to push the packaging out of the hole in the middle of the sponge. To apply, you simply twist to produce some product, then dab on the skin, before using the sponge to blend the foundation into the skin. Ok...let me be honest here....I HATE the packaging. I understand what they are trying to do, but honestly I just find it unhygienic and just messy. It doesn't blend the foundation in easily and I preferred to use either my own sponge or a brush to blend the foundation into my skin.I have to say I have had some mixed experiences with this foundation. The first couple of times it applied really well and lasted quite well (aside from my t-zone that was quite patchy by the end of the day). However, the more I used it, the worse it performed. Now, no matter what primer I use or how I prep my skin, the foundation just balls up on my skin and won't sit properly. As you might be able to see in the images below, it just doesn't want to sit on my skin. After having some good wears at the start, I was disappointed by the way the foundation just didn't really want to sit on my skin properly. It had so much potential, but at the end of the day, it just doesn't work for me.... Show more

Formula is good! Packaging and shade range is awful!
4 October 2018
Let's start with the good. If you want a light to the fuller side of medium in a great formula, this is something to look to. You can go very light with this (use your own sponge, we will get to that soon lol) It goes on nicely, evenly and with properly primed skin can last very well unless you're extremely oily (if so, use a matte powder and then set with a fixing spray.) To build to a fuller (not full) coverage you are able to do that with your own makeup sponge and/or a brush. The key here is you need to apply the foundation onto either a mixing palette or even a paper plate if that is what you have clean and at your home. Remember when using something to mix foundation on you want it to be clean. Even paper plates (we have all been there, no shame lol) wipe them ... MoreLet's start with the good. Remember when using something to mix foundation on you want it to be clean. Even paper plates (we have all been there, no shame lol) wipe them down with a little rubbing alcohol and allow to dry. That way you know it is clean. This wears well and depending on your skin type it can last for quite a wile. Prepping your skin for how it needs is a big one with this and even all foundations really. The bad news is they killed this with the packaging; and not in a good way! That sponge tip is hard, bulky and waiting to breed bacteria because you can't wash it really. Although I do enjoy some products with a sponge tip, I wish NONE of them had that feature. It's just the germs and bacteria issues. However, if you go in and dot this on your face like many and most people do...you are going to see those dots and this is a fast drying foundation! This is why I say twist out what you need onto something and then apply. This is a good mixer with outer foundations as well since it does blur a little. So if you have a foundation you want more of a blueing look for, this would be a good one to mix with. The shade range is sad. I'm as white as a ghost with cool under tones. I mix the two lighter shades to try to achieve a semi decent match. However if you look at the "darker" shades in this formula..it's even more sad. As an MUA I need shades that are going to match REAL PEOPLE! Not all people with dark to very dark skin have extremely red undertones and you only have maybe 2 darkish shades here. If they would repackage this foundation, up the shade range GREATLY, and drop that price due to less "upgraded packing" I think it would be a much better foundation!! It's one I have even used on mother's of the brides, bridesmaids, etc. It's just a hard one to work with until you get the hang of putting it on one section at a time, blending it in sections since it dries so quickly...and for goodness sakes, twist that foundation onto something else hehehe!...
