The flat pedal warriors among us will certainly appreciate the Ride Concepts Hellion Shoe when it comes time to drop in on seriously gnarly terrain. Offering increased impact protection, rugged durability, and a sticky rubber outsole, these shoes up the ante when it comes to foot comfort and pedal control. They feature tough synthetic uppers with an anti-peel coating that holds up to rocks and roots on the trail, as well as extensive perforations to keep your feet cool during long summer days at the bike park. For the bottom of the shoe, Ride Concepts partnered with the experts at Rubber Kinetics to create the DST 6. 0 High Grip Rubber Outsole. This design combines their tackiest rubber with a grippy honeycomb tread pattern, working together to ensure your feet stay locked in place through even the chunkiest terrain. As far as protection goes, The Hellion Shoes comes with anti-abrasion toe and heel guards, as well as a fully gusseted tongue that prevents the intake of dirt and debris. These are nice features, but perhaps the most unique and impressive feature is the D3O High Impact Zone Insole Technology. D3O is highly shock-absorbent padding that's commonly used for knee pads and elbow guards. By incorporating D3O into the insole, the Hellion significantly reduces the impacts sustained from huck-to-flat landings and big days in rugged terrain.

Always been a Five ten wearer but the soles don't last long enough to warrant the prices anymore. Tried these as reviews and price were good. Fit is slim I would say but good for my slim feet. More comfort and support than a Fiveten Freeride. I don't think the soles are as grippy Fiveten and the pins of my One Up pedals are starting to tear the rubber already. If they wear at the same rate as Freeriders I'd go for these for the price. My Freeriders all end up in the bin with torn soles whilst the uppers have years left. I paid ÂŁ57 for the first pair, then had a voucher, and Tredz had some other promotion, which meant I nabbed a second pair for ÂŁ42 for when the first ones give up.

Good build quality, excellent water resistances very comfortable. Very sridd, warm shoe with not a lot of ventilation (good for colder temps as they do run hot). Bottom grips definitely not as tacky as Freerider pro. Extra padding inside shoe makes for great comfort and impact insulation + protection but at the expense of peddle feel. Grips are not very tacky and I do not have confidence on my One Up components peddles with large pins. Five Tens Freerider Pros grip far better and lasted me 3 season of long hard riding.

These are a game changer! I was always a hardcore dirtbag rocking worn out hightop vans till I die. But I’m sold on these shoes. Feet actually stay planted on the chunk and braking bumps so I can keep powering through. 11/10 I’m a changed man. Seem to run just a tad small. Im usually a 12.5 and probably should have went 13 because my toes just barely touch the front of the toe box. But eh I’m still gonna send it!

I Purchased these about 2 months ago as my first pair of riding shoes. So far they have worked well. They also are very comfortable for someone with very wide feet.Pros:The Grip is Great and the reinforced toe cap has saved my feet multiple times! The elastic lace holder also works very well. They also are very water resistant seemingly without being that hot.Cons:the cushion around the ankle is a bitawkward feeling but you tend to forget about it when you start riding. Now i'm not sure if this is just because mine are still breaking but I find them easy to overtighten and can lead to losing circulation while riding but after simple adjusting the shoe that issueis Gone.all in all a great shoe so far. exited to progress in them!
I bought this pair of shoes mainly to commute, using it for a few weeks now and seems they're up to the task. Comfortable to ride, good grip on my mtb pedals even in heavy rain. I ordered the same size as my Adidas og trainers and feels like a similar fit. Service from Tredz was good as always.
After riding clipless pedals for 20+ years, I took my son’s advice and bought flat pedals and these shoes (after reading negative reviews about another popular shoe). They have exceeded my expectations - more grip on the pedals than I expected and barely any lost efficiency in the pedal stroke. Time will tell how durable they are, but they seem well made and are comfortable. They do run a little small, so I exchanged the first pair for the next size up. The lace keeper is a nice touch.
Great grip and very comfortable.Had Ride concepts before and always rated them. The only thing with them is they always seem to come up a bit small.I’m normally a size 9 in other trainers but I’ve always gone up 1 size with past recommendation.Ive got these in a 10 and they fine perfectly.
Quality 9, comfort 3 it’s personal, Grip 3.Where to start, straight out of box you can see brilliant shoes can’t complain. Comfort, wearing them around house they were fine, out on trails _x0001F44E_, pain pain pain. Certainly don’t buy them when you have a wide feet. I am not that wide and pain was there. Grip _x0001F937_‍♂️_x0001F645__x0001F3FB_‍♂️ none BIG BIG BIG disappointment. What has happened rideconcepts . First day, ok maybe they need bed in properly. Feet were all over the place. Second ride, ohh starting to be worried I have thrown £120 in the air. Still hardly any grip and climbing is difficult. Third ride and I won’t be wearing them again. On technical rocky climb my foot has slipped off and I ended over the bars. If I could I would send them back ... MoreQuality 9, comfort 3 it’s personal, Grip 3.Where to start, straight out of box you can see brilliant shoes can’t complain. First MTB shoes so only comparing to running shoes. Sizing good for me although the heavy padding makes them feel a close fit . Excellent grip . Look well made . Purchased due to excellent reviews. Keen price. Issue with postage cost to the Isle of Wight sorted efficiently by customer service. Many thanks.
I love the RC Hellion, they're like the Five Ten Free Riders, but look better IMO, plus they're much, much, more weather resistant.I sized up one shoe size to fit a Seal Skinz sock inside and they fit great. They seem just as grippy as Five Ten Stealth rubber soles, but the sole is a little thicker with the D3O impact protection, which removes some ride feel in comparison, but they last longer.Buy some if you ride flats.
