For the cheaper price you pay for this drugstore primer I would say it does the things it claims to do on the packing (matte complexion, controls shine, ultra lightweight, minimises the appearance of pores) making it a good product as you are getting what you are paying for. \n\nThe packaging says that you can use the primer "alone, under or over makeup". I have personally only used it as a base for under my foundation and concealer and am not entirely sure how it would work over makeup due to its consistency and finish. \n\nInitially I was a bit concerned that the primer would feel heavy and thick on the skin and not lightweight like it says on the packaging as it is a very thick and creamy consistency. Although the initial consistency is very thick and creamy I found that once I applied the product to my face and allowed it to dry I almost couldn't believe I had any kind of product on my face at all as it felt so lightweight and almost non existent on my skin which I really liked. I found it also dried really quickly which was good particularly if you are in a rush and don't have time to wait around for your primer to completely set and dry. I wasn't particularly fond of the way the primer first smelt when I applied it to my skin as it smelt kind of fake (chemically) and plastic like, however I found that once it dried there was hardly any smell left to it at all. \n\nThe primer leaves your skin feeling very matte. I could also see how it somewhat minimised the appearance of my pores (particularly around my cheeks and nose where my pores are larger) as it is almost creates a very lightweight veil over the skin that blurs and smoothes the skins surface reducing the appearance of your pores. I found it also helped my foundation and concealer to apply to my skin easier and go on a lot smoother.\n\nThe primer did help prolong the wear of my makeup however I would say that for me and my skin which tends to be more oily in my T-zone, it didn't last as long as it says on the packaging (8 hours) as I noticed that my skin did get a little shiney throughout the day. I also found that the primer stuck to any little patch of dry skin making it appear really noticeable which I didn't like as it made apply any sort of foundation or concealer in these areas almost impossible. Thus, I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone who is more prone to dry skin or that likes a primer that is somewhat hydrating. \n\nWith that being said I think for the price of this primer it is definitely worth a try for anyone with more oily skin who wants to prolong the wear of there makeup. \n\n

I really didn't notice any difference with this primer at all. It didn't help my makeup stay on, it didn't feel like it moisturized, blurred pores, make things more matte, anything. It also almost seemed like it didn't want to sink into my skin but more like sit on top which I don't usually like because my makeup seems to slide around or come off more easily that way and it just makes things looks worse. I would of returned it had I not lost my receipt. Luckily all rimmel at my local store was on sale so I only ended up paying about $2 for it. I tried it about 3 times and everytime it just seemed to do nothing or make things look more worse then usual.

I’m so glad I stumbled upon what I believe is Rimmel’s best kept secret (: it’s only $4.99 at Target and a little goes a long way so one of these lasts me at least a month or two if I wear makeup everyday hence me feeling the need to apply it. I have very oily skin so I’m constantly searching for new mattifying beauty products that will help to keep my skin in check without having to blot at it every hour. This product takes the cake. (: before this I was spending almost $30 on Benefit’s Porefessional Stay Matte primer and I swore by the stuff. The price didn’t matter because before finding this primer I really thought there was no drugstore brand dupe that would even come close to in comparison. But then enter Rimmel’s Stay Matte primer and I haven’t looked back ... MoreI’m so glad I stumbled upon what I believe is Rimmel’s best kept secret (: it’s only $4.99 at Target and a little goes a long way so one of these lasts me at least a month or two if I wear makeup everyday hence me feeling the need to apply it. Instead it’s a light weight creamy product that goes on my skin and leaves it ridiculously smooth and I can literally watch my skin transform from oily and shiny to it all disappear into a matte perfected look in a matter of seconds . I love this stuff. And it also does not react negatively with my usual prone to breaking out sensitive skin type. My skin hasn’t looked or felt this great since I can’t even tell you when (: This is Rimmel’s best kept secret and I’m letting the cat out of the bag!

This primer is so lightweight and beautifully silky smooth. It goes on fabulously, it's a cold cream that warms your face as you apply it and it literally gets into every pore and crevice you have leaving your skin looking flawless and like porcelain. I love đź’žđź’ž this primer so much I use it daily to make sure my Face looks so flawless and perfect everyday. It is highly recommended if you have larger pores or scars you want to try and hide.

I really wanted to like this product. I tested it a new primer with several different brands of powder foundation, to concealer, to liquid foundation and everytime this primer is so tacky that it doesn't look smooth. It looks very uneven, flaky and cakey. No matter how much i blend or rub it just smears it never rubs in. It just sits on top of the skin. I could only get in to look rubbed in if i used my fingers. It's not the 90s anymore. We don't do that here. This just isn't for me. I'm not against rimmel london just this wasn't made for me.

If you like a thick, heavy, cream primer, then this is the primer for you! It is white in color but doesn't appear white on the face when applied. I thought a little would go a long way but it seems to take a bit of elbow grease to blend it in so I found myself using more than I thought I would. It acted as any other primer I've ever used and created an even base for my makeup to sit on. I enjoyed this product and would recommend it to family and friends. I moreso enjoyed the price as I got a TON of Rimmel makeup (I believe it was 7 items, including the primer, for under $4.00!) from Walgreens when they had a combination of coupons to use online and you were able to do free pickup in store! Love my Freebie groups on Facebook!

This is honestly the best primer I’ve used. With all the mask wearing, this is the first primer that has helped my makeup stay on. The transfer is minimal, I don’t have to reapply makeup during the day and my skin looks great with it on. After 8hrs, there is a bit of shine but it resembles more of a healthy glow than a shiny nightmare.Just for context, on top of it I use a MAC concealer, Estée Lauder double wear foundation, a MAC powder and Urban Decay All Nighter and before using this primer, I was constantly reapplying makeup when I took my mask off.Waiting to see how it holds up during summer in Osaka.iHerb ships quickly to Japan and I’m a super happy customer. Will be stocking up on this primer again very soon.

The Stay Matte, Mattifying Makeup Primer by Rimmel London is a decent option for those looking to control oil and shine on their skin. okay, so... i have oily skin and pores big enough to park a car in. what i like about this is, it tightens pores BEAUTIFULLY. as long as you moisturize well beforehand, it'll give you a smooth, silky, kinda 'matte' finish without that weird, tight, over dry feeling. i don't really like wearing a lot of makeup, and with this, i can just use a little concealer on any blemishes and go. no foundation, no nothin! it coulda been sold for twice the price. i really, really like it. thank you, rimmel.
