This tracks where a person has walked within the view of the cam but I don’t really see the point as the camera will have recorded it. There is a problem in the UK as it uses Mapbox satellite imagery to set up the position of the cam. The issue is that the image is far too blurry and so difficult to accurately set up. This is the feedback I have seen across the uK whereas in the US the image is crystal clear. But on testing one can certainly see the track taken by somebody.Now to my one gripe and the reason for giving only 4 Stars. My old halogen floodlight lit up my whole garden when triggered. The Ring floodlight only covers the patio and leaves the garden largely unlit. This is a shame and detracts from an otherwise good piece of equipment.

I bought this over a week ago and just got around to installing it since it finally stopped raining. I removed an existing floodlight and installed the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired Pro over the existing junction box. First you flip the breaker and remove the existing floodlight, if you have one, including the metal crossbar. Then you install the metal crossbar that came with the Ring and then the backplate. Next part was somewhat challenging given I was about 20-25 feet up on a ladder doing this above my head. The ring backplate comes with a "holder" where you hook the camera/light portion of the device onto the backplate/wall that you're installing onto. This frees up your hands so that you can connect the electrical wires from the house to the device. Then you have ... Then you have to tuck the wires & wire nuts into the j-box and line up the mounting screws to go through the camera/light portion of the device and attach the lug nuts. Word of advice, insert a lug nut into the orange handle first before climbing a ladder to screw on to the mounting screws. I initially hand tightened the first nut before placing the nut in the orange handle to tighten for the second, which went much smoother. Now that the device is physically installed, you flip the breaker on and the Ring will talk to you and let you know it's performing an update. Once that finishes, you can configure your specific settings in the app. Overall, the picture quality is great and installation was simple. The lights aren't the brightest, and glow a warm white temperature (more yellow than white). I would have preferred the color temp to be more pure white (4000-5000k), but it does well enough. I would highly recommend this to any of my family or friends.

The setup of the camera was very easy and it has some great functions. The wide angle lens captures the majority of our deck and garden. The microphone is very sensitive but eliminates most background noise. The floodlight is VERY bright but can be dimmed in the app. The Ring app itself is enhances the functionality of the camera, allowing you to set some adjustments to suit your needs, like floodlight sensitivity and Geo-fencing. I like the auto-capture function, where an image is taken at a set frequency and the video recording when there is motion detected. I am current on a 30 day free trial of the Ring Protect Plan so I don't ... There are so many positive things to say about this product that I will focus on two main areas – set up and features.First, regarding setup, the process is fairly painless. Starting with connectivity, WIFI is dual-band, and it seems to work very well with no lag thus far! I highly recommend having a mesh network with a router close by to ensure the best connection. Along with great connectivity it has an even better picture! At 1080p with HDR and night vision, I’m very impressed with how clear the video is, especially at night. The wide view works perfectly with my driveway, and it also has motion detection. This means you can even pinpoint motion at a distance if needed! It also has two-way talk, which allows me to talk in real-time if necessary. Although I’m not sure I’ll ever need it, it even has a siren if something really bad goes down!One thing that makes this so easy to use is the Ring app, which is very user intuitive and full of options. This is where you can do things like set up notifications, view live video and even set the sensitivity for what it reacts to. I really like how it provides a picture snapshot so you can preview what caused the alert. Overall the dashboard is really easy to navigate. You can even connect with your community and see crime and safety alerts in your area.I’m very pleased with this product overall. It’s high quality and loaded with features. The LED lights are very bright and it’s very responsive. If you’re looking for peace of mind with an aerial view, I highly recommend checking this out!

Pros: Brilliant clear picture on videos. Lights good and bright. Easy to install by competent DIY’er.Cons: The detection zones are a little difficult to set up and seem to be inconsistent - the motion detection picks up things that are outside of the detection zone I have set. Also detection seems more sensitive at night - being set off by cars passing in the street (even on the other side) when the zone is set to just inside the bottom of my drive. The lack of ability to move spotlights sideways (they only move up and down) - to cover the area I wanted to cover (and not light up half my neighbours garden) I had to mount the whole unit at an angle - the camera though flexes in all directions so doing this did work.

I bought this version because a friend said they get false alerts on their original version. However that version (made of metal) has since been withdrawn so the new entry level Plus may have fixed that. The versions are now made of plastic but that's no real issue.There are some features of this camera that disappoint me. Firstly the lights are nowhere near as bright as the floodlight this replaced. It's fine for a smaller garden but the light doesn't shine very far forward and even close up it's fairly dim still. The siren isn't especially loud either. The camera is good, but I do think the quality is a tiny bit lower than a wired camera from the main competitor that I bought 5 years ago. Also, unlike that camera the Ring only records movement. You can't go back and view any point in time.Then there is the 3D motion detector. This is a big selling point for this camera over the cheaper version. The problem is, it's terrible. It blocks your actual video of the garden and and just shows dots over a blurry map. Most people are unlikely to find this helpful and will swipe it away or turn it off. However, it may be of interest to people with places for an intruder to hide behind as the dots show movement between different areas.My other issue is that the lights can't shine directly ahead, they have to have a slight left, tight or down. That will be fine for most people, but I needed one to shine forwards and one sideways.That may all sound negative. Actually it's a really good camera aside from the above. I want to highlight what I wish I had known when I bought it. There are lots of settings on this to adjust sensitivity, and I like being able to turn off motion detection in different zones, meaning my neighbour doesn't set it off. They also don't get filmed as you can set two areas to black out.The picture in this review is of the blurry map.

I already had a floodlight mounted to the front of my garage so installation was literally a few mins. Ring did an amazing job supplying me with ALL the tools I would need for the job, even different size screws to perfectly fit your existing floodlight mount. Plus a perfect little 2 in 1 screwdriver. The pro camera allows for you to set zones and establish Ring's 3D motion w/birds eye view. I had to go back and make changes to these settings as I wanted to move the camera to capture more of a certain portion of our yard. This doesn't really take away from the overall ease of installation and use though, just added time.The cameral has a very wide angle and captures our entire street view, which is 100ft across. The lights are bright and bring needed illumination to the dark side of our house and ensure the night views of the camera are crystal clear.I would recommend this production to anyone.
