I enjoyed this way more than I was expecting. I liked the previous game just a tad more for personal reasons, but this one is the technically better game. The game makers put more of what the players liked about the first one into it; more challenge tombs, more optional side quest missions, more weapons, more action abilities, along with the already grand story/graphics/and awesome game-play/cinematics combination that made the first reboot so cool. These are part of my favorite games forever. I can't say games like this have a lot of replay value though. But I usually feel that way about most games other than racing games and multiplayer games like battlefront, etc. But that shouldn't keep anyone from this great experience. It's definitely worth it. Tomb Raider is a well known franchise, Lara Croft being a recognizable protagonist wether you know about video games or not. Rise of the Tomb Raider exceeded my expectations. Placing you against a new enemy, "Trinity", as seen in the next game. This game had a good balance of combat and puzzles, with challenge tombs and exploration abundant as well. I will say, I prefer Shadow of the Tomb Raider slightly more because of its unique puzzles and numerous challenge tombs. The art in this game is phenomenal, making you really feel the suspense of coming toe to toe with Trinity. The characters are well voiced and fleshed out. Though, I wish we got more Jonah screen time! Overall, a great game in the series.... Show more

This was a very intricate and well designed game. It's clear that the developers spent a lot of time thinking and creating this open world styled game. There were many aspects of the game that I enjoyed in particular that the main character was a female. Lara Croft is an awesome character and I've always been a fan of the game series over the years. The only thing that I felt was frustrating about this game were the amount of small details that contributed to your overall success with obtaining certain tools or weapons. I'm a very objective game player and the small details got in the way of completing a mission at times, however, this is what makes the game so great. Fantastic game
Got it day one, played the crap outta it for the next week or so enjoying every moment of it. Improves almost every aspect of the first (2013) one and adds more. Hunting/gathering is now actually somewhat important and you don't have infinitely deep pockets to carry all your supplies, so you'll have to spend them as soon as you can. You can self heal which I didn't use too much as I took a stealthy approach for most of the game, but it was certainly helpful when a few firefights broke out. Much like the first one, if you sneak around before taking anyone out, you'll often hear conversations between the enemies that give you background on whats going on, or why the bridge in the background has fallen. Theres even a few references to Yamatai and Lara herself. The ... MoreGot it day one, played the crap outta it for the next week or so enjoying every moment of it. Missed out on hefty revolver sounds for the rest of the game as it was one of the first things I got. Kinda wish it said that somewhere. Its a Fantastic game and I loved it to bits unfortunately now I'm itching for a third one. If you liked the first one you'll love this one.... Show more

good game,UPDATE FIRST BEFORE PLAYING on xbox360 !-not-so challenging puzzles
UPDATE HEADS UP! -well known (but not to me) glitch in game!,get all updates while online with xbox360! Glitch / bug is in Geothermal valley at bottom of waterfall is a cave/tomb, DO NOT GO IN THERE TILL AFTER NEXT LEVEL!(if you get notice "need rebreather" it's too late!) (or before updating xbox),,if you do you get STUCK during the big battle in the next chapter! Outside of that puzzles are not very challenging and far between-wish for more. Another note; game is not "linear",many locations mush be revisited later due to not having certain skills or tools so get ready to flip-flop around in game a lot,I was puzzled about many tombs I could not enter with no explanation.... Laura Croft is on top form.
After the 2014 reboot of TombRaider franchise, crystal dynamics return with an XB1 'timed' exclusive and deliver what is perhaps one of the finest action adventure games of a generation. Skipping the origins story framed by the original reboot, we join Laura on her crusade to vindicate her late fathers work. What follows is a glorious adventure filled with some of the best platforming and action set pieces. Laura finally shows Nathan how it should be done. Across open world hub areas scattered with hidden collectables and dozens of hidden tombs rife for exploring, Laura puts all her skills into action. Perfect Sequel
Tomb Raider is my favourite video game franchise and it never disappoints. It's graphically gorgeous(the environment, clothing, fabrics etc have crazy detail), plays great, tons of exploring(Tombs, Crypts, Caves) for items(although if you're a completionist finding some collectibles namely caches are tedious sometimes but there are secret maps you find that may reveal things you haven't yet found) also some side missions to keep you busy. Lara's character has grown and she's more tough than previously, the story is pretty good it is quite long, I'd say the same amount of time it takes to finish the previous game! It would take you two days to finish the story alone(not if you're playing it for 48 hour straight) The ending shows her next location as Square Enix had ... The characters weren't bland. Also like to thank MightyApe, I was expecting just one DLC code(Pre-Order) but surprisingly I got 3 extra codes for outfits! One of them I really wanted and wasn't sure who to get, the T-Shirt is quite big but I love it(I could just go to a printing place and get anything tombraider printed on a blank t-shirt) the steel book case is great(it also comes with the original box case aswell, I wasn't sure) and the Poster is great.... Crystal Dynamics put a lot of effort into crafting this game and it shows in almost every detail. The locations are beautiful, some of the tombs such as the first one you come across just look stunning. The variety of scenery is a welcome change from the bones and candles of the previous game.Bug free - it seems virtually every game I get these days requires patches - this one I only found one error in the landscape tucked away in a hidden corner - otherwise I played a bug free game - which made a nice change.Puzzles - these are well balanced - they require some traversing around the tombs and some thought but you shouldn't need to go online to find an answer - they aren't super simple but neither are they too hardCombat - more of the same of the last game, I ... The game doesn't really give you enough time to converse with the other characters to learn more about Lara or them but this is an action game not a companion game.Style of game - this is a hybrid RPG/Action game, there are lots of RPG elements in crafting, side missions, chatting to people, buying stuff, upgrading gear and it doesn't feel as linear as the last Tomb Raider - still it is primarily an Action game so there is only one way forward.Overall I was wowed by the quality of the game and hope they go on to make another. The special edition I got from Mighty Ape was disappointing though - the T-Shirt was not an official one and the size was too small, I had rang before my order asking for a larger one and was told that would be noted on my order but it wasn't, the poster is just one that goes up in a store with a big Xbox Exclusive bar above and below which felt cheap - within 2 weeks this version was on sale with over $20 off - I felt a bit ripped on that - 2 stars to Mighty Ape for being a bit cheap (first time I've experienced that from them) - but 8 stars for the game so on average 5 stars overall... Very good but similar to previous game
I enjoyed this game but it is nearly identical in game-play to the previous game. This is good and bad depending on whether you liked Tomb Raider. For the PC, the graphics are superb and all the environments are beautiful to look at. The snow and ice is marvellous.Fortunately there are more tombs this time around and some are quite tricky but overall this is still more of an adventure / shooter than a puzzle game. The previous game was also a lot scarier and bloodier. This time around Lara seems to have a much more leisurely romp in the tombs. The supporting characters are more interesting this time around and her annoying friends from the last game do not make an appearance (except for Jonah). The story is OK but didn't grip me very much. It's basically just an Indiana Jones style adventure, but it does have a lot of mystical mumbo jumbo. The game seems like a decent length and will go for much longer if you're keen to find all the hidden relics and tombs. All in all, it was fun and if you have a good PC, it's amazing to look at.I hope the next game really does something more ground-breaking though....
