Beautiful color.
I love the color. You need to pay attention though. I added the amount of dye and did some very sheer valances in my kitchen sink. I wanted a specific color so wanted to keep a close eye on them. After about 5 minutes I needed to add a little my dye. Continued to swish. In another 5 minutes added a little more. Swished some mor. Waited 10 minutes and BINGO! Exactly the shade I was looking for. Rinsed and rolled in a towel for wringing out. Love the shade. If you are looking for a lighter shade of the dye you like, My suggestion would be to take your time and start with a little, and continue adding until you see what you want.... Cottons really grab color
I've used Rit dyes for years and enjoy the whole process of restoring , recreating and making anew. one bit of advice i will share is that cotton fabrics really suck up the dye stronger . I also have been following the advice on the package (always a good idea) and add the dish soap and cup of salt. So last i dyed some cotton chenille bath rugs and used the RIT charcoal color , added salt and soap and it came out pretty black. I'm not disappointed , it just wont work in the original spot . Also, keep in mind the color that exists in the fabric you are dyeing will also effect your outcome. if it has a bit of blue or yellow perhaps in the original color, it will still show some. Used the pearl grey also on light blue rugs and they came out a nice smoky blue grey. Just ... Excellent dye, vibrant color
Worked great on a pair of old jeans and a white tshirt. Super vibrant. Easy to use. Doesn’t bleed or fade if instructions are followed. Shirt soaked up the dye like a sponge almost instantly. Left jeans in dye bath over night and they came out with a bright green tint. Not truly green, but that’s the nature of the material. Still looked great for an event. The pictures don’t do the color of the jeans justice. Also note that they are old jeans, medium wash. I believe the wear and tear of the material helped with the absorption of the dye. If I had used a new pair as originally planned,I don’t think there would have been any absorption. RIT also makes dye for synthetic materials and since my jeans were stretchy, maybe that would have provided a more saturated effect. ... MoreWorked great on a pair of old jeans and a white tshirt. HORRIBLE! DO NOT BUY!
I Purchase, the black dye, because I wanted to dye my faded Nuna Demi Grow stroller fabric. I thought that this would work because so many people had left 5 star reviews about the product. It’s complete garbage! And I did all the steps correctly and TWICE because the first time I got the same results it went back to being faded. I am so mad I spent $40 on something that didn’t even work. Now I’m off to find a different way to get what I need for my stroller and get my money back! The part I’m pulling back on the stroller that’s the part that never saw the sun that why it looks fine. I wasted 2 days for nothing I have done all the dying and washing and then letting it air dry ridiculous!!!! extremely sad, and upset... Show more

Perfect
I was a bit hesitant to try dyeing my favorite pair of white jeans because I've heard people talk about their bad experiences. Unfortunately, these jeans got stained with red/pink juice from a sippy cup. But I decided to give it a shot and bought some Rit dye. I followed the instructions exactly and chose to dye them in the sink. The whole process took about an hour, with the most challenging part being the 30 minutes of constantly moving the fabric. Stirring something isn't that difficult though. After dyeing, I used another Rit product to set the color and prevent bleeding when washed. I can't even express how happy I am with the results. The jeans turned out to be a beautiful shade of pink, and they look amazing and feel even better. The dye is evenly distributed ... Perfect!
I needed to re-dye my dogs’ discolored nylon collars. They are outside dogs and their collars became discolored over time from the sun. They are a good quality and in excellent shape. No need to buy another one. So I dyed them the same original colors that they were when they were new! One purple and one red. I simply followed the instructions, only I used a very small four-cup capacity plastic container that was able to withstand the three cups of hot water that I used for the process. I also only used four tablespoons (which was a bit much; probably should have used half the amount) of the liquid dye as well as just a little bit of vinegar because the collars are made of nylon. Followed the general instructions (only on a much smaller scale). And voila! The result ... MoreI needed to re-dye my dogs’ discolored nylon collars. Followed the general instructions (only on a much smaller scale). And voila! The result was two beautiful, colorful very vibrant, new- looking collars! 😁 The original purple collar was a lavender color when it was new. But once dyed, it turned out a quite vibrant full-on purple! That’s why I say I should have used only half the amount of dye. So, instead of the 4 tablespoons, I should have used maybe two to get a lighter purple. But, nonetheless, I will still very satisfied with my dog’s, beautiful very brilliantly, purple collar. So it didn’t take much dye to get those colors in. I don’t have pictures because I already put them back on the dogs once the collars were completely and thoroughly and properly rinsed through and dried. I was concerned the fur on the dogs’ necks would get colored, but it did not, because I followed the instructions and properly rinsed them. I also dried them thoroughly before putting them back on the dogs. So everything is fine. Excellent product. And, I have so much leftover dye for another project, so it was still worth it. Oh. One more thing. NONE of my equipment had any dye residue on it after the process was complete! And my little bucket was (and still is) white! So I can just use my little clean “dirty job” bucket for anything else I need in the future!... Show more

Rit Dye saved my Bleach Stained Pant!!!!
I accidentally got bleach on my new green cargo pants. I had worn them maybe 2 times. I quickly ordered a new pair…. But I also decided to experiment with dye. I looked up the directions for washing machine dying techniques on the Rit Dye website! I followed their advice. I purchased 2 bottles of the liquid dye at Michael’s. They had the perfect color match available, I had a glass of Prosecco to calm my nerves. The whole process went smoothly. The cargo pants were approximately 90% perfect with one bottle of dye. I ran them through a 2nd time with the 2nd bottle that I had purchased and I honestly have perfection. I cannot see where the bleach stains were at all. And these were like 2 inch blotches. My pants are a bit darker than they were- but that is fine. I ... MoreI accidentally got bleach on my new green cargo pants. I had worn them maybe 2 times. I quickly ordered a new pair…. Saved her favorite shirt!
My daughter’s favorite shirt was badly stained. With a bright, fun Hello Kitty feature, she wore it often, but the white t-shirt wasn’t coming clean! Sooo, I added a couple drops of RIT dye to boiling water, dropped her shirt in and saved the day! I wasn’t going for a smooth dye, because of the stain, I needed it to marble, (not quite tie-dye, but close). I left it in the boiling water long enough for it to darken in some areas but not others and quickly dipped it in ice water to lock the colors (not sure if that works or if I just think it should). Sorry, I wish I had photos to post, but I don’t at the time.I’ve started doing this with my kids cloths it gives them just a few more wears and helps max out our clothing investments!... Show more

Spots everywhere
I spent HOURS sewing my dream dress with a beautiful raw silk fabric, only for it to be ruined after dyeing by a product that Rit knows has had serious quality issues for over a year. Their liquid dye is not integrated at all. I had this exact same issue with a different project one year ago. I thought it was my own mistake, so I stripped the color and redyed it four times, only successfully avoiding these hot pink spots (on a light blue dress) when I used dye from a different company. I don't know whether this dress will survive a color strip. I think all of my effort has gone in the trash. DO NOT use this product. Buy an acid dye somewhere else instead.... Show more
