Mops very well, but the vacuuming misses picking up things like dog hair, or bits of garden material (leaves, cut grass) that the dog occasionally manages to bring inside. Human oversight is still required, along with at least a spot vacuum cleaner (i.e. can't sell off your old one), for supplementary cleaning.Doesn't recognise or deal with electrical or other cords at all well. To be fair, the manual warns about this, but it hasn't been possible for us to entirely eliminate these obstacles, and we have yet to work out how to micromanage the S7's maps in order for it to stop 'just short' of where any particular cord always is.The mobile app controlling the S7 is distinctly lacking with how-to explanations or help text. And the docking station functionality is very well considered and executed -- also "low maintenance".It mops really well, and while the vacuuming proficiency is average at best, and certainly requires occasional human intervention and effort to achieve good results, we're convinced our house will stay cleaner on an ongoing basis, with less effort from us, than before we got it.

I have owned the S7 Max for a little under a year now. I live in an apartment with other people and wanted to get a maid, but my roommates did not want to pay for it. Because I would’ve been paying the maid myself, I decided it would be a good idea to try out one of the robot cleaners on the market so that if I moved, I could take it with me. I guessed that I would probably be paying $2000 for cleaning services during my lease with a maid, and looked for a product that would last the duration of my lease for under $2000.I genuinely think that the Roborock is the best value in a purchase I have ever made. I got my roborock S7 Max Ultra for a week. I'm sharing several noticeable points in terms of the experience compared to irobot Roomba j7+.- Navigation&Mapping: Roborock S7 Max Ultra > Roomba j7+, e.g., roborock builds the map in 10 mins, while Roomba j7+ takes at least one hour.- General Obstacle avoidance: Roborock S7 Max Ultra > Roomba j7+.- Wire avoidance: Roomba j7+ > Roborock S7 Max Ultra. Although the wire avoidance performance of Roomba j7+ is not satisfactory, Roborock S7 Max Ultra will chew all your wires, shown in the Figure below. In short, set your no go-to zone or clean your wires in advance.- Self-cleaning: Clean dock so far.- Self-drying: Always dry after 3 hours.- Mopping: Satisfactory.- Noise: I generally use it when I'm outside.- Carpet ... I need to clean and refill it per 3-4 days. I know we can choose automatically draining & refilling version in China (G10 pure), why not here?Overall, it is satisfactory, 5 stars.
After a lot of research we selected the S7 Max Ultra over the S8 Pro Ultra. This was an upgrade from a previous Roborock vacuum. Reviews indicated the S7 edged out the S8 in a couple areas that were important to us. After using the S7 for about 3-4 weeks, it does a fabulous job of mopping. I mean, really good! Set it and forget it which is perfect for us. Our previous robot mopped, but required a lot of attention. We have a number of dogs. All of which shed. The vacuum does great keeping pet hair up off the hardwood floors. We never see anything. Carpets are about equal to the previous vacuum. It's keeping the pet hair at bay, but weekly vacuuming with our upright vacuum is still required. It would be a lot worse without the Roborock, but we still haven't hit that ... It's keeping the pet hair at bay, but weekly vacuuming with our upright vacuum is still required. It would be a lot worse without the Roborock, but we still haven't hit that perfect spot where our regular vacuum gathers dust in the closet.I do believe the navigation has been much improved since our previous vacuum and I can't say enough good things about that. The mapping and room separation via app is still difficult, but if you work at it, you can get a good map and divide up the floor into separate rooms. It's just clunky to say the least. All in all, this was an excellent purchase with no regrets.
First, let's start with what's great about this robovac/mop. If I could, I would give it 4 1/2 stars, but I can't give it a 5. I have had other robovacs which were high quality and not cheap. I thought those did a good job. Nothing compares to this robovac/mop. It does a truly outstanding job of vacuuming the floors. It gets everything. It automatically increases the suction when it goes onto a carpeted surface, and then decreases the suction when it goes back onto a hard floor. It even manages to get into corners and tight spots, and those are clean, too. The quality of the vacuum is excellent, and when it's finished, your floors will be spotless. The mop function is equally impressive. It scrubs and preps the mop pad before it even starts, then while it's mopping, if it needs to go back to the base station and clean and scrub the mop pad again, it does, and then it picks up right where it left off. The mop function also has different intensities to really scrub your floors clean. It does an amazing job. If it were just the vacuum/mop, this thing would be 5 stars, but there's more to it.Roborock's documentation is rubbish. There is a quick start guide, but there is no real owner's manual. After you read the included documentation, you'll still have LOTS of questions about how this thing works, which you will figure out by doing. But there should be a full, complete owner's manual, and there isn't.The machine comes with one vacuum bag already installed, and they give you another extra bag, but there isn't a sample of their floor mopping liquid, which is unacceptable. Not including a sample of it to try is just cheap on their part. They will also tell you to either use water or their mopping liquid. What is the point of mopping with plain water? And their liquid is USD$20 a bottle, so ridiculously overpriced. I bought a bottle of Lysol (Dettol) floor liquid and have been using that, and it works just fine. For Roborock to tell you that you MUST use only their liquid is unacceptable. Their mop must be designed to use readily available mopping liquids. This is another huge failure on their part.
I want to start off my saying I’ve been waiting a year to get the guts to pull the trigger on this premium robot vacuum. I’ve watched hours of Vacuum Wars on YouTube and finally decided to get this at target because it was under 1 grand. I loved it, for the first 3 weeks. Then it ran over cat poop and well water and poop does not make a good combination. All I want in a vacuum is object avoidance and it failed to do that. In terms of vacuuming, our basic Roomba from 4 years ago does a better job, ON HARD FLOOR! Not even carpet, which obviously isn’t even a question. I love that it mops, for hard wood and 3 cats yes it is a game changer. But if it can’t avoid simple objects like cords/cables and poop then I’m not interested. FYI I ordered the S8 after returning this, ... MoreI want to start off my saying I’ve been waiting a year to get the guts to pull the trigger on this premium robot vacuum. The Roborock S7 Ultra is a very clever and quite brilliant machine. However, beware the branding. I bought the S7 MaxV Ultra assuming it was an advance on the Max Ultra. The reverse is true. Both are similar in nearly all respects (including the price!) except that the Max Ultra has a built in dryer for the mop and the MaxV Ultra doesn't. Not the end of the world as a dryer add-on is available, but at extra cost. Dryer is strongly recommended as on-line reports identify the mop becoming smelly if not dried off after use.Downloading the app for iOS is best done direct from the app store - I initially used the QR Code in the instruction manual and ended up in the Google store. Two apps are offered - personally I prefer the dedicated Roborock one. The app can be installed on two different iPads/iPhones but, if you do, the advice is to use the same account for both. The app is relatively intuitive but could prove challenging to the less technically minded. The user manual provided is very basic and provides virtually no advice on how to use the app and operate the thing. Fortunately there are U Tube tutorials and a lot of advice out there if you go to the internet search engines.Purchased as a Black Friday deal but, as ever, same item is now cheaper post Christmas!
Over a decade ago I got my first cleaning bot. A Mint hard floor cleaner. Great idea but in practice it regularly missed areas or whole rooms, needed regular maintenance, and broke down often. For a while it seems like robo vacs just couldn't live up to their promise. Happy to say the Roborock S7 MaxV does. After setting it up (which could be made a little easier - my only complaint) it simply works. Schedule cleanings in the app, dump the dirty water and top off the clean every so often and your floors stay clean. I have mostly wood and tile floors, and the mop does a great job cleaning both. It also seamlessly switches to carpet vac mode when it goes only area rugs. The avoidance system works as it should with any items left on the floor. And, it's able to get ... Overall the whole system is better than I expected.
As young parents with toddler, a pregnant wife, and two shedding dogs - no one has time for upkeep on the floors. This device has been AMAZING to keep the floors clean and manage the crazy dog hair that piles up daily. After I mapped out the floorplan, I have routines set up for it to clean various zones of my house. One touch button - just need to do a little set up and press the button and walk away. Set up: pick up dog/children's toys and any other items on the floor, lift chairs onto table restaurant style, open all the doors in the cleaning zone, etc.I do this routine typically at night (or leaving the house), and set it to triple clean/deep wash setting. This setting takes the most time as it does a very intense scrub with a tight mesh pattern to seriously clean every square inch (it ends up needing to recharge midway). Overall it takes about 4 hours to clean my downstairs this way (1000sqft), but I wake up to squeaky clean floors and it's amazing!I have luxury vinyl plank flooring, so this robot is super effective. No carpets so can't comment, but I can imagine it could struggle to get pet hair off it.The AI is incredible, does a very good job with obstacle avoidance and takes a photo of whatever it runs into and sends you a notification. I haven't actually run this thing with my kids/dogs running around, it just seems like a better idea to let it do it's thing alone. My night cleaning routine uses a full tank of clean water, so every morning after I run it I make sure to empty the dirty tank. You may have read a lot of reviews complaining about the smell...well, yea it's pretty dirty water you're smelling (smells like dirty plumbing/sewer smell). That's dirt that's no longer on your floor! The key is don't leave the dirty tank sitting there - empty it as soon as possible and things won't get too bad. The mop washing station can get pretty gross too, you'll want to take that apart and rinse/wash everything about once a month.Maintenance wise, I've had it for just two months and run my routines every two days and haven't had to replace anything yet except swapping out mop pads to wash them. The Roborock software tells you the status of every part and what maintenance is required, so the only thing you need to really keep track of is the mop pads and dirty tank. I bought the cyclone bin but haven't installed it yet because the bag that came with the vacuum is still not full yet.I also bought the mop dryer module, which does a very good job of drying the mop pad after use - which would otherwise remain damp for 12-24 hours after use which is a magnet for bacteria and bad smells. Is it worth it? I suppose so, helps mitigate smells and extends the use of mop pads between washes. All in all, I am glad I bought this device. I'd argue it's the best one on the market but it's the first smart vacuum I've ever owned so I don't have much experience. I can't imagine having a smart robot without the docking station - it makes it SO easy. If you have the money and you need it - BUY IT.
