If you think it’s going to eliminate 100% of your manual efforts to clean you’ve got another thing coming. I say it’s 90% which is awesome, but you’ll still need to do some manual cleaning. The robot can not climb stairs so don’t try it. For all it’s intelligence, it can still be pretty dumb if you don’t have the kind of floors/walls/furniture that it’s programmed to work well with. But having spent a week with the S7 MaxV compared with my current S6 MaxV, Roborock has made some game changing improvements. Let’s dive into a few of those. We will start with a simple one: my bar stools. I have some bar stools with metal legs that form a round circle at the base and it’s been coated to be very reflective. Almost like a mirror. The RoboRock S6 Max swears these legs don’t exist and tries to climb over the thing each time it cleans. It can’t make it and so it gets stuck on the stools and cries out for help until I manually pick it up and move it back to the carpeted floor it came from. The software included lets you build no-go zones and I do that for these stools but this was the first test for the S7 MaxV and I’m happy to report that the S7 MaxV properly stops before hitting the circular base and then moves around the stools without requiring a go-zone. Go RoboRock! A huge annoyance with the S6 MaxV and all the models below them is that the mopping attachment gets in the way of normal vacuuming and is better removed from the unit. Unless you like wet mopping carpet. This means you have to remember to go put it back on, and refill the water tank each time you decide it’s mopping time. Then you have to empty the water tank. You know - all the things you do manually anyway as part of a mopping job. What’s the point of having a robot vacuum if you still have to do all the mopping!? Well, if you’re like my friend (no pets, only hardware floors) you don’t need to mop all that often so it’s a minor inconvenience. If you’re like my family, our 17 year old lab sheds his 80 pounds of dog hair like its going out of style and he now slobbers all over the floors making mopping several times a day a must-do. The S7 MaxV solves this problem not only with it’s auto fill and auto-empty water tank, but now when the mopping attachment is left connected, the S7 MaxV includes “Dynamic Lift” which means the robot lifts the mopping module when it begins moving over carpets. But remember - it’s not The Jetson’s, so while the “Dynamic Lift” is a huge improvement, it only works with low pile carpets and mats. With the S6 MaxV I had to exclude my wife’s office because the S6 MaxV would scuff up the baseboards and her desk as it drove by. Thank god for Magic Eraser. With the S7 MaxV after a lot of begging she let me give it another go and I’m happy to say that the S7 MaxV does so much better at avoiding wall scuffing as it drives that it’s earned it’s right to clean her office back. There are tons of other minor improvements to the RoboRock app regarding pet avoidance, obstacle avoidance, cleaning patterns, I mean basically the entire software stack seems to have been improved between the S6 MaxV and the S7 MaxV making this a smarter robot than before. The marquee feature though has to be the new dock which is where the magic happens. Automatically emptying the dust bin, the dirty water, and refilling with clean water each time is such a welcome improvement. But the dock does have its downsides which is that it is HUGE and bulky, and the real annoyance is that it sounds like a jet engine when it’s cleaning the mop. In the week I’ve spent with the S7 MaxV I’ve done daily cleanings and only had to empty the dirty water tank once. That said, it smelled like a sewer coming out so brace your nostrils. Having spent a year with the S6 MaxV and cleaning out the dust bin after ever run, my mind was in shock over how well the auto-suction cleans out the dust bin of the S7 MaxV. Just don’t be in the room, or the room next to it, or the room next to that one when the cleaning cycle is complete. Unless you’re a pilot and the sound of a jet engine is something you love. Overall there are so many welcome improvements to the S7 MaxV I think it’s a giant leap forward in the Robot Vacuum industry… now Roborock just needs to create one that can handle stairs.

This makes the cleaning path smaller than the D shaped robotic vacuums and leaves a much larger gap on side which the spinning side brush attempts to handle. The mopping pad is on the back section and is the entire width of the vacuum allowing it to mop large sections without a problem. The top hinges open allowing access to the dust bin while the water tank is accessible from the back. The top has the LIDAR scanner which maps the room approximately 4 inches off the ground while the front has the structured light scanner, camera, and LED light to allow the camera to see in the dark and still perform AI detection. The cleaning base is very large but not as tall as others. You will need to find a large space in your house to place it, but thankfully it only needs about a foot and a half of clearance on the sides to work. In testing it worked fine in a space of 32 inches wide by 20 inches deep even though that is far less than the recommendation. There are separate tanks for dirty water, clean water, and the vacuum bag. While the vacuum section is not removable, the two water tanks are making it easy to bring to a sink for emptying and refilling. Setup and Performance Setup is straightforward. You just create your account via the app and connect the robot to your Wi-Fi. It will prompt to update if needed and then you can have it perform a mapping run. It takes about 45 minutes to map the entire house and then you can name your rooms. It does detect floor types, but you can also define them yourself in the app. It will automatically suggest room dividers, but they are adjustable. You can define no go zones, zones for only mopping, and zones for only vacuuming. You can also place furniture in the rooms to help better visualize the layout. Zones can be defined for cleaning but each time you browse to the zones section it automatically adds a new one. You also can’t tell it to vacuum a zone by voice or via schedule. Zone cleaning can only be done manually. Hopefully they will update to allow zone cleaning on schedule so you can have small, high traffic areas cleaned more frequently without cleaning a whole room. You can clean the whole house or a specific room by voice. Scheduling can clean the whole house or several rooms. The latest update says the option to choose room cleaning order has been added by so far it is not visible in the app. The floor plan can be viewed in 2D with each room being a different color, as a grayscale 3D map, or in what is called matrix which is like an AR version that only works on newer iPhones with a Lidar scanner. While 3D and Matrix are nice and help you better visualize what the vacuum sees, the most useful is the standard 2D map. Cleaning starts with the vacuuming announcing what is going to do. It will announce “starting selective cleaning” or “starting room cleaning” followed by “going to wash the mop” each time before it starts to work. It can be helpful to hear as you can verify what it is going to do. While there isn’t a specific setting to turn this off you can turn the volume down if you have a consistent fixed schedule. Strangely while the voice feedback for what it is doing is specific, problems are sometimes spoken as error codes. For example, when there is a problem with the dirty water bin or the clean water bin it has just said error code 39 instead of, please refill water or please empty dirty water. It would be nice to see Roborock further refine these error messages to be more descriptive in the future. Cleaning has been very good, but the full effect takes several runs. You can start by setting the vacuum to maximum suction and the mop to intense cleaning as well as set it to do 4 passes to speed up the process. After a few runs all but the most stubborn stains are cleaned off hard floors. On low and medium ply carpets it does a good job cleaning but doesn’t clean deep enough to create distinct cleaning lines. Also, because of the inset roller, the carpet isn’t cleaned as thoroughly up to about 3 inches from the wall so for those with pets you might need to occasionally do a manual touch up vacuuming against the walls. While the documentation says it can switch between mopping and vacuuming only on low pile carpet, it has done well on medium pile carpet and barely adds any moisture to it. When verified with an infrared camera the mop does touch medium pile carpet when lifted, but the amount of moisture it adds is already evaporated by the time it is starting the next row. The bonus of running a vacuum and mopping run in one is that on hard floors it vacuums up debris and them immediately mops leaving no chance for new grime to collect before mopping. This reduces the likelihood of leftover dirt and loose material from scratching the floor during mopping. The result is a clean, grit free floor with little to no streaks. One area that could be improved is, somewhat oddly, sensors. No sensors are included for dirt, full bin, or empty water tank. It would be nice to see future versions include a dirt sensor to know if more cleaning is needed in a certain area as well as a dust bin full sensor or water tank empty sensor. As it stands now, the S7 empties the dust bin and refills the water on a set schedule instead of as needed. It would also be nice to see an update to the charging logic to shorten cleaning times. In use, it cleans all but two rooms of the house on one charge. Then it returns to the dock to charge for several hours until the battery is fully charged only to clean for 20 minutes. Instead, since it knows how many square feet are left it would be great if it could charge enough to clean that remaining area and then finish the job. Surprisingly even though Roborock makes no claims of handling hair without tangling it has done an excellent job of keeping the roller clean with two dogs and two long hair family members. The only area that does collect hair is on the main shaft of the roller but so far it hasn’t caused damage to the roller whereas this has happened on vacuums made specifically to handle hair. Noise has been good with guest stating the vacuum is quieter than they would have thought, possibly this is because it doesn’t speed up the vacuum until it is on carpet which tends to muffle the sound more. You could watch a show or hold a conversation in the same room with it albeit at increased volume. It does also list a quiet setting, but no one could notice a significant difference in volume between modes. Probably the most important question for the S7 MaxV is how good the new AI is. The short answer is, nearly flawless. The LIDAR navigation means it knows exactly how close to get to furniture without touching or bumping, with the minor caveat being that bed or couch skirts are seen as walls. Combine that with the structured light camera, visual camera, and LED light and the AI recognizes most things even in the dark correctly and avoids as needed. You can also set it to save pictures of obstacles in the onboard storage so that you could inspect them later to see if it correctly identified them as well as instruct it to not classify an object as an obstacle in the future. Most of the time this works very well. If you are concerned about privacy, the AI doesn’t seem to send anything to the cloud as it worked just as well without an internet connection. You just can’t control it via your phone or voice assistant without internet. It was able to identify couches correctly as well as shoes and power strips. It even saw the dogs walking around and would pause so as not to get in the way. If the dog moved fast enough it would continue, otherwise it would check back later to see if the area is clear to clean. The one area that could still use improvement is recognizing cords lying flat on the floor or pieces of paper. On more than one occasion it would fail to recognize a charging cord and would snag on it and drag it around the room. It also sometimes sucks up small pieces of paper which have become lodged in the rollers. Still much better than average but still has room for further improvement. The camera can also be used for remote viewing if you like. By default, this feature is disabled and can only be enabled locally by holding down the buttons on the vacuum. After enabled it can be used remotely without pressing the buttons again. Audio and video quality is good, but reliability is hit or miss even when at home or on a good internet connection. The base has been excellent at both emptying the dust bin and cleaning the mop. It empties the dust bin through the roller. This seems have the benefit of cleaning the roller. After over a week of daily cleaning the mopping pad is also fairy clean with minimal stains, however the water used to clean the mop sits in the base and develops a smell. Cleaning the mop cleaning area helped. Final Thoughts The S7 MaxV Ultra is the closest yet to fully automated floor cleaning. It only needs very occasional attention with some periodic maintenance. If you have been wanting a robotic floor cleaner that takes most of the work off your hands without much fuss, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is hard to beat right now.

Even though the vac has a object avoidance system via Roborock's AI system and camera I wouldl recommend trying to provide the clearest path possible especially during the 3D mapping phase so that most of your cleanable surface is cleaned properly. The cleaning path is 6.7 inches which is nice for a robo vac because previous robo vacs that I have use have had smaller cleaning paths. The vac features sell emptying and mop pad cleaning upon returning to the dock to ensure the mopping pad is clean each time the vac goes out to clean. The water tank also refills itself when it returns to the dock so you can clean a little over 3000 sq ft without having to refill the clean water. The mopping also features sonic vibration technology which means it can scrub at 3000 scrubs per minute so you don't have to worry about dried on dirt. The mop will also lift automatically, up to 5mm to avoid getting any carpeted areas wet. This feature worked well in my living room where I have an area rug adjacent to to my tile floor. This vacuum may not work well on high pile carpets as it is not meant for high pile carpet. You can also adjust the suction via the app so areas that may need higher or lower suction can be adjusted. You can also video call via the on board camera which is nice in case the vacuum gets stuck somewhere. The obstacle avoidance system works very well since it usually has to avoid my son's hotwheels cars and unlike other robot vacs it has not tried to suck up one of his cars yet. There are tons of other minor improvements to the RoboRock app regarding pet avoidance, obstacle avoidance, cleaning patterns, I mean basically the entire software stack seems to have been improved between the S6 MaxV and the S7 MaxV making this a smarter robot than before. The marquee feature though has to be the new dock which is where the magic happens. Automatically emptying the dust bin, the dirty water, and refilling with clean water each time is such a welcome improvement. But the dock does have its downsides which is that it is HUGE and bulky, and the real annoyance is that it sounds like a jet engine when it’s cleaning the mop. In the week I’ve spent with the S7 MaxV I’ve done daily cleanings and only had to empty the dirty water tank once. That said, it smelled like a sewer coming out so brace your nostrils. Having spent a year with the S6 MaxV and cleaning out the dust bin after ever run, my mind was in shock over how well the auto-suction cleans out the dust bin of the S7 MaxV. Just don’t be in the room, or the room next to it, or the room next to that one when the cleaning cycle is complete. Unless you’re a pilot and the sound of a jet engine is something you love. Overall there are so many welcome improvements to the S7 MaxV I think it’s a giant leap forward in the Robot Vacuum industry… now Roborock just needs to create one that can handle stairs.

This makes the cleaning path smaller than the D shaped robotic vacuums and leaves a much larger gap on side which the spinning side brush attempts to handle. The mopping pad is on the back section and is the entire width of the vacuum allowing it to mop large sections without a problem. The top hinges open allowing access to the dust bin while the water tank is accessible from the back. The top has the LIDAR scanner which maps the room approximately 4 inches off the ground while the front has the structured light scanner, camera, and LED light to allow the camera to see in the dark and still perform AI detection. The cleaning base is very large but not as tall as others. You will need to find a large space in your house to place it, but thankfully it only needs about a foot and a half of clearance on the sides to work. In testing it worked fine in a space of 32 inches wide by 20 inches deep even though that is far less than the recommendation. There are separate tanks for dirty water, clean water, and the vacuum bag. While the vacuum section is not removable, the two water tanks are making it easy to bring to a sink for emptying and refilling. Setup and Performance Setup is straightforward. You just create your account via the app and connect the robot to your Wi-Fi. It will prompt to update if needed and then you can have it perform a mapping run. It takes about 45 minutes to map the entire house and then you can name your rooms. It does detect floor types, but you can also define them yourself in the app. It will automatically suggest room dividers, but they are adjustable. You can define no go zones, zones for only mopping, and zones for only vacuuming. You can also place furniture in the rooms to help better visualize the layout. Zones can be defined for cleaning but each time you browse to the zones section it automatically adds a new one. You also can’t tell it to vacuum a zone by voice or via schedule. Zone cleaning can only be done manually. Hopefully they will update to allow zone cleaning on schedule so you can have small, high traffic areas cleaned more frequently without cleaning a whole room. You can clean the whole house or a specific room by voice. Scheduling can clean the whole house or several rooms. The latest update says the option to choose room cleaning order has been added by so far it is not visible in the app. The floor plan can be viewed in 2D with each room being a different color, as a grayscale 3D map, or in what is called matrix which is like an AR version that only works on newer iPhones with a Lidar scanner. While 3D and Matrix are nice and help you better visualize what the vacuum sees, the most useful is the standard 2D map. Cleaning starts with the vacuuming announcing what is going to do. It will announce “starting selective cleaning” or “starting room cleaning” followed by “going to wash the mop” each time before it starts to work. It can be helpful to hear as you can verify what it is going to do. While there isn’t a specific setting to turn this off you can turn the volume down if you have a consistent fixed schedule. Strangely while the voice feedback for what it is doing is specific, problems are sometimes spoken as error codes. For example, when there is a problem with the dirty water bin or the clean water bin it has just said error code 39 instead of, please refill water or please empty dirty water. It would be nice to see Roborock further refine these error messages to be more descriptive in the future. Cleaning has been very good, but the full effect takes several runs. You can start by setting the vacuum to maximum suction and the mop to intense cleaning as well as set it to do 4 passes to speed up the process. After a few runs all but the most stubborn stains are cleaned off hard floors. On low and medium ply carpets it does a good job cleaning but doesn’t clean deep enough to create distinct cleaning lines. Also, because of the inset roller, the carpet isn’t cleaned as thoroughly up to about 3 inches from the wall so for those with pets you might need to occasionally do a manual touch up vacuuming against the walls. While the documentation says it can switch between mopping and vacuuming only on low pile carpet, it has done well on medium pile carpet and barely adds any moisture to it. When verified with an infrared camera the mop does touch medium pile carpet when lifted, but the amount of moisture it adds is already evaporated by the time it is starting the next row. The bonus of running a vacuum and mopping run in one is that on hard floors it vacuums up debris and them immediately mops leaving no chance for new grime to collect before mopping. This reduces the likelihood of leftover dirt and loose material from scratching the floor during mopping. The result is a clean, grit free floor with little to no streaks. One area that could be improved is, somewhat oddly, sensors. No sensors are included for dirt, full bin, or empty water tank. It would be nice to see future versions include a dirt sensor to know if more cleaning is needed in a certain area as well as a dust bin full sensor or water tank empty sensor. As it stands now, the S7 empties the dust bin and refills the water on a set schedule instead of as needed. It would also be nice to see an update to the charging logic to shorten cleaning times. In use, it cleans all but two rooms of the house on one charge. Then it returns to the dock to charge for several hours until the battery is fully charged only to clean for 20 minutes. Instead, since it knows how many square feet are left it would be great if it could charge enough to clean that remaining area and then finish the job. Surprisingly even though Roborock makes no claims of handling hair without tangling it has done an excellent job of keeping the roller clean with two dogs and two long hair family members. The only area that does collect hair is on the main shaft of the roller but so far it hasn’t caused damage to the roller whereas this has happened on vacuums made specifically to handle hair. Noise has been good with guest stating the vacuum is quieter than they would have thought, possibly this is because it doesn’t speed up the vacuum until it is on carpet which tends to muffle the sound more. You could watch a show or hold a conversation in the same room with it albeit at increased volume. It does also list a quiet setting, but no one could notice a significant difference in volume between modes. Probably the most important question for the S7 MaxV is how good the new AI is. The short answer is, nearly flawless. The LIDAR navigation means it knows exactly how close to get to furniture without touching or bumping, with the minor caveat being that bed or couch skirts are seen as walls. Combine that with the structured light camera, visual camera, and LED light and the AI recognizes most things even in the dark correctly and avoids as needed. You can also set it to save pictures of obstacles in the onboard storage so that you could inspect them later to see if it correctly identified them as well as instruct it to not classify an object as an obstacle in the future. Most of the time this works very well. If you are concerned about privacy, the AI doesn’t seem to send anything to the cloud as it worked just as well without an internet connection. You just can’t control it via your phone or voice assistant without internet. It was able to identify couches correctly as well as shoes and power strips. It even saw the dogs walking around and would pause so as not to get in the way. If the dog moved fast enough it would continue, otherwise it would check back later to see if the area is clear to clean. The one area that could still use improvement is recognizing cords lying flat on the floor or pieces of paper. On more than one occasion it would fail to recognize a charging cord and would snag on it and drag it around the room. It also sometimes sucks up small pieces of paper which have become lodged in the rollers. Still much better than average but still has room for further improvement. The camera can also be used for remote viewing if you like. By default, this feature is disabled and can only be enabled locally by holding down the buttons on the vacuum. After enabled it can be used remotely without pressing the buttons again. Audio and video quality is good, but reliability is hit or miss even when at home or on a good internet connection. The base has been excellent at both emptying the dust bin and cleaning the mop. It empties the dust bin through the roller. This seems have the benefit of cleaning the roller. After over a week of daily cleaning the mopping pad is also fairy clean with minimal stains, however the water used to clean the mop sits in the base and develops a smell. Cleaning the mop cleaning area helped. Final Thoughts The S7 MaxV Ultra is the closest yet to fully automated floor cleaning. It only needs very occasional attention with some periodic maintenance. If you have been wanting a robotic floor cleaner that takes most of the work off your hands without much fuss, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is hard to beat right now.

Even though the vac has a object avoidance system via Roborock's AI system and camera I wouldl recommend trying to provide the clearest path possible especially during the 3D mapping phase so that most of your cleanable surface is cleaned properly. The cleaning path is 6.7 inches which is nice for a robo vac because previous robo vacs that I have use have had smaller cleaning paths. The vac features sell emptying and mop pad cleaning upon returning to the dock to ensure the mopping pad is clean each time the vac goes out to clean. The water tank also refills itself when it returns to the dock so you can clean a little over 3000 sq ft without having to refill the clean water. The mopping also features sonic vibration technology which means it can scrub at 3000 scrubs per minute so you don't have to worry about dried on dirt. The mop will also lift automatically, up to 5mm to avoid getting any carpeted areas wet. This feature worked well in my living room where I have an area rug adjacent to to my tile floor. This vacuum may not work well on high pile carpets as it is not meant for high pile carpet. You can also adjust the suction via the app so areas that may need higher or lower suction can be adjusted. You can also video call via the on board camera which is nice in case the vacuum gets stuck somewhere. The obstacle avoidance system works very well since it usually has to avoid my son's hotwheels cars and unlike other robot vacs it has not tried to suck up one of his cars yet. Overall the Roborock S7 Mac V Ultra is the ultimate robot mop vac combo that you can currently purchase. It really is incredible to see how far they are pushing the technology compared to my previous year old robovac, which was already a jump ahead of my other robotic vacuums I have owned over the years. The onboard RGB camera also provides the ability to live view through the app. While providing little use during a cleaning cycle, it is suggested it could be used to check on pets and even use the onboard speaker and microphone to really pester them. I could also see using this to check on your home while away, though not really practical as surveillance and more of a novelty. Fortunately you have to physically enable remote viewing on the S7 and you set a live viewing pattern to deter unauthorized access. Of course many are probably more concerned Roborock is trying to see their poor interior design choices, but rest assured Roborock has attained TUV certification with respect to privacy. From what little network traffic I have monitored from the S7, it does not seem to be streaming live video when not activated in the app. In addition to whole home cleaning, you can specify rooms or zones to clean on demand or scheduled. The S7 MaxV has 5100Pa of suction power, but to achieve that number you have to run the vac on Max+ mode which still does not replace the need for a full size vacuum. I prefer to run the S7 MaxV on balanced or turbo, depending on time of day to reduce noise though it still is not as loud as my previous robovac. The S7 detects floor types and using their VibraRise mopping system, can lift the mop pad when traversing carpet instead of dragging the wet pad over carpet or rugs. It is reported the mop pad scrubs 3,000 times a minute, which does a great job maintaining clean floors but obviously will not work miracles or clean grout. The Roborock app is by far, the most well polished and customizable app for a robotic vacuum I have used. With intuitive maps you can easily modify room demarcation and floor type, though the S7 does a commendable job at doing this automatically with its Reactive AI. though I prefer a standard 2D map, you have the option to view a 3D model or even use your iPhone to create a Matrix view overlaying a wireframe of your home onto the map. Within the app you can even adjust everything from the Reactive AI’s functionality, schedules, and carpet settings to even how the dock will perform. The final piece of the puzzle that lets this device finally achieve less hands on interaction is the Ultra dock. The dock further automates floor cleaning by cleaning the mop pad, emptying dust bin, and refilling of mop water in S7. Inside the dock, there is a cleaning apparatus, tanks for storying clean/dirty water, and replaceable dust bag filter. Roborock even lets you customize the behavior of the S7 and the dock so you can adjust frequency and water usage. With balanced settings, I can get 5 days of cleaning before needing to empty the dirty water tank or refill the clean water tank. Unfortunately, I have found if I wait that long the dirty water tank develops an odor. I have found maintaining the dock every few days reduces this but that will vary depending on you cleaning area and environment. It would have been nice to have a bagless bin in the dock to reduce maintenance items to buy but it seems the bag should last a couple months. My only other issue is the mop pad, while “clean”, is constantly damp despite the S7 lifting the mop pad when docked to help dry. A recent update does show an “auto drying” option that will require a separate dryer module but it is unfortunate that the dock did not ship with this. Despite a few short comings, the Ultra dock finally closes the gap on floor cleaning automation. With the S7 MaxV’s excellent mapping, navigation, and obstacle avoidance combined with the automation of the Ultra dock Roborock has solved many of the downsides of owning a robovac. Now, if only our robot overlords could help me with the laundry.

Usage: The robot will first do a fairly detailed mapping session on its first cleaning cycle so don’t expect it to do everything on its first run. It took about 1 hour to map a 1,500 square foot area of the house. The app with automatically trying detecting the “rooms” inside this area. Given, I have had two different robots so its done this process twice it detected different rooms each time but you can adjust this yourself inside the app after a few runs. It will continue to map the layout after a few runs and eventually it will get to the point of knowing where everything is. You can manually add barriers, objects, and zones to customize the cleaning experience for you. Of this roughly 1,500 square feet, about 60% of it is tile and the rest is carpet. During a full clean including mopping and vacuuming, the robot will pre-wet the pad on the dock assuming the clean water take is full. Once the pad is wet, it will begin scrubbing the floor. Once it encounters a carpet section, the pad will lift and the vacuum will run. Then once back on hard floor, the mop will drop down and start scrubbing again. This is truly very neat to see because it works very well overall. You can set vacuum and scrub intensity inside the app separately. After so long as mopping the robot will return to the dock, clean the pad, and return to its cleaning cycling. In my typical cleaning cycle it will return to clean the pad twice which adds a few minutes but it’s nice to know the pad is cleaner than it would be if not cleaned during the cycle. After a complete cycle, the robot will clean the pad, dry it if you want, and then self-empty the vacuums dustbin into the bag on the dock. This is done all by itself! It is loud when it self-empties but good thing you can set when it empties and when it doesn’t. Overall functionality is great and it does a great job avoiding obstacles and cleaning the floors. When it comes to the water tanks, I believe you should be able to go at least 5 cleaning cycles before even having to worry about checking them. The vacuum bag should be able to go for a long while assuming your house is fairly clean and pet free. If you have several pets, it will obviously fill up quicker. This vacuum is truly hassle free as long as it works properly. Defective First Robot: I feel like I need to disclose the problems of the first robot to be fully transparent. The customer service was actually better than average. After troubleshooting the issue (Which took a couple days) I had a label emailed, the robot was sent back, and a new unit was sent out later the same day it was received! Anyways, the issue I experience appeared to be battery related as the robot would constantly back off the dock by itself and send charging errors through the app. The charging speed of the battery and how quickly it died was also an indication the battery inside was not healthy. The symptoms occurred within 3 hours of placing the first robot on the docking station. Several times a day it would back off the dock and sit about 2 feet in front of it. Sometimes it would end up about 4 feet away rotated at a odd angle like it started a cleaning cycle and just stopped in the middle of the floor. If you want to simulate this, you could unplug the dock from the wall, wait about 10 seconds, and the robot should back off the dock by itself. This is what my first unit did several time a day. I have had the second robot for over 48 hours so far and it has yet to show ANY symptoms of the first one. Fingers crossed this one works as designed because it functions really well. Pros: - Excellent Mapping/Navigation - Doesn’t contact most furniture/walls - Very little hair tangle on brush - Mop and Vacuum Combo - Mopping function quiet - Can provide on demand camera/video call function via app - Self-empting Cons: - Dock is large - Vacuum function can be loud on higher suction - Can get stuck under furniture at “perfect” height to fit under - LIDAR interprets soft objects as a barrier (Curtains) - Thresholds of a certain height cause issues for climbing (Especially hard surface to carpet) - Robot emptying into dock is loud (Sounds like regular upright vacuum) Overall: This is by far the most feature packed and advanced robot vacuum I have used. It makes it stand out from the crowd for sure but it also has a price tag to go with it. I really have enjoyed using the second unit thus far I was just disappointed when I had to use the warranty straight out of the box. I am hopeful that that is in the past and I am on to continually clean floors for years to come!

And then, to add an amazing mop that is utilized simultaneously with the vacuuming feature, and the ability to customize from a light mop job to a extra duty session— YESSSSS nailed it in execution, nailed it in design, and nailed it in understanding the deficiencies of the current technologies on the market, and then bring the technology market :) Summarized, and in general, I have been pretty darn critical of most of them tech purchases in the past 10 years because of shifty retailers, manufactures, ad campaigns, all implying, amazing features and benefits that blend into a disappointment and waste. If not a complete failure. It’s usually what is implied by the manufacture, but not stated that leaves disappointment in execution. And then, of course, there are the glaring issues, confronting consumers in the marketplace by way of the retailers, not Best Buy that don’t care about the customer enough to mandate that pro product descriptions are actually in English enough to understand but to me that basically means that a manufacture doesn’t really care about the American consumer at all because if they did, they would find somebody who speaks English enough to write a manual for whatever product and to write print and advertise that product in a way that respects the customer and doesn’t make them have to read between the lines or reword, poor grammatical errors, because of a lack of regard that upsets me more than anything so I’m very glad to have retailers that are still around like Best Buy where I know specifications for a product are going to be the specs for the product. Anyway, the bottom line is, this is a win. I’m pleased, and I have not been pleased in the product and I can say this pretty certainly in a very, very long time, so great job, Robo rock. This truly is THE robovac to rule them all. I've been using the Roborock S7 MaxV ultra in my 1400sqft two-story townhome almost daily for almost two weeks now. It has done an incredible job of keeping both my carpeted and tile floors clean. For the most part, the entire experience has been flawless with a couple of minor exceptions during it's first cleaning run. The Roborock S7 did get stuck once underneath one of my recliners. It also had a problem with getting back to it's dock. Again, this was only during it's first run where it was still trying to map and learn the environment. For both of those instances, the Robovac app notified me to please check on the device and free it from any obstructions. I've been using the Roborock S7 MaxV ultra in my 1400sqft two-story townhome almost daily for almost two weeks now. It has done an incredible job of keeping both my carpeted and tile floors clean. For the most part, the entire experience has been flawless with a couple of minor exceptions during it's first cleaning run. The Roborock S7 did get stuck once underneath one of my recliners. It also had a problem with getting back to it's dock. Again, this was only during it's first run where it was still trying to map and learn the environment. For both of those instances, the Robovac app notified me to please check on the device and free it from any obstructions. All I had to do both times was briefly pick it up off the floor and just set it back down. It automatically re-positioned itself and managed to finish it's cleaning session and return to it's dock with no issues. The Roborock S7 MaxV has incredible floor mapping and obstacle recognition which is made possible by it's LiDAR navigation. I've watched it several times easily breeze around tight corners, tv stands, coffee tables, underneath my dining table with several scattered chairs, and around fitness equipment that I have in the living room with no issues. Having both functions of a vacuum and a mop in a robovac has been a game changer. The vacuum easily has the most powerful motor out of any robovac I've ever tested (it has 5100Pa of suction which is insane for a robovac!). This robovac does a phenomenal job of auto detecting the surface it's cleaning. During it's cleaning sessions, the mop would automatically retract whenever it detected carpet. The mop head performance was also very impressive. I was honestly surprised by how well my tiled floors turned out. I became curious and researched the mop performance. Turns out the mop head vibrates 3,000 cycles per minute! I've constantly watched this robovac to see if it would mix up the surfaces and start mopping over rugs or carpeted surfaces but it has performed perfectly. It also has a strong headlight that automatically illuminates any dim or dark areas in it's environment. The charging dock truly is the star of the show here. The included 3L clean water tank, 2.5L dirty water tank, and dust bin makes it so that your cleaning experience is practically fully automated. I love the practical design of these tanks. They're basically small tubs with handles which makes it very easy to fill or pour water out. I've filled the clean water tank once and it's easily lasted over a week through multiple mopping sessions. When the robovac returns to it's base, it automatically empties it's dustbin, washes the mopping pad, and refills the clean water compartment inside the robovac. Roborock claims that the auto-dustbin emptying can go upto 7 weeks without having to change the dust bag. This robovac comes with one preinstalled 2.5L dust bag as well as an extra one inside the box. I think it's worth mentioning that Roborock recommends that you setup the docking station on a hard flat surface with clearances on either side as well as in front of the dock. For testing purposes, I placed the dock on carpet in my living room to see if the roborock S7 would have any trouble either dispatching from it's dock or returning to it's dock. Aside from it's first run, it has never had any issues leaving the dock or returning to the dock over a carpeted area. Figured this bit of information may be useful for those who may be limited on where they can place their dock. The Roborock android/ios application for this product is on another level both in terms of practical usability and features. This is one of those products where the the mobile app completely elevates the experience. I have to give kudos to the dev & design team. There are so many useful and practical features in the Roborock app. For starters, the app displays the battery level, the cleaning area size in your home, and the amount of time it will take to clean that area. It automatically draws an entire map of your home which includes all of the different rooms and areas. The app automatically labels all the rooms and the floor types for each room. It even places little icons that resemble things like furniture, tv stands, footwear, obstacles, dining tables, and several other points of interest. Very impressive. As the robovac cleans and makes it's way throughout your home, it visibly draws it's route on the map in real-time. Since I have two stories, it saves two seperate maps (it can store upto four). You can start, pause, resume, and return the robovac to it's docking station directly from the mobile app. You also have a plethora of options in terms of changing the suction power (i.e. quiet, balanced, turbo, max), the mop scrub intensity (i.e. mild, moderate, intense), the mop route (i.e. standard, deep), and you can even manually customize the way the Roborock S7 will clean based on the floor and room type. A very neat feature within the app is "Remote Viewing". This feature allows the app to tap into the robovac's camera, regardless of your location, and watch in real-time as your Roborock S7 roams around your house cleaning. You can even talk through the app and the robovac will use the built-in mic to reproduce your voice. Although this feature seems more of a novelty, I found it to be pretty neat. It allows people that may not have an existing indoor camera system in the home to take a quick peek at what's going on. For those that have kids or pets, you can quickly say Hi! It also has a feature for pets where it will improve obstacle recognition at the cost of cleaning efficiency. Lastly, I'm impressed by the amount of firmware updates that are regularly released on the app and pushed to the robovac. It instills confidence that Roborock is continously working to improve things like obstacle recognition and performance to ensure that their flagship remains the best possible offering on the market. Overall, I can't state enough how impressed I've been with the performance, features, and practicality of this product. It is, without a doubt, the most innovative and complete robot vacuum solution that you can possibly get. Even the presentation of this product was extremely premium. Not only was it packaged very thoughtfully, but immediately upon opening it, I was presented with a large quick guide with clear illustrations on how to immediately get started with my new robovac. When a manufacturer goes the extra mile to ensure you have the best possible hollistic experience through it's packaing & presentation, ease of product use, well optimized app integration, and the best product performance on the market, it truly makes for a 5 star product. Working to unbox the vacuum you will notice everything is a touch larger than most other robotic vacuum systems, most specifically the docking station. The docking stations features a clean water and dirty water tank, both of which are removeable for easy emptying and filling, a debris bin, auto emptying from the vacuum to the dock, and a cleaning system for the mop portion of the vacuum. Packing all those automation features in definitely comes at a cost on space. While this isn’t a big issue, if you have very limited storage space in the room you’re looking to place the docking station, you may have to reconsider some things. Initial setup is fairly straight forward. Download the mobile app, create an account, and connect your new assistant to Wi-Fi. You’ll be prompted to look for any updates, and then to really start digging into settings, you can perform a mapping run to create a layout of your house. This is the part that I would argue that could start to get a little on the advanced side. I’m very comfortable with technology as I deal with it every day for work and a hobby, but there’s a lot of settings you can start to dive into to take full advantage of everything the Roborock has to offer. Once the vacuum creates a layout, it will take guesses on room types, floor types, and obstacles based on machine learning. You can override any of these settings, adjust room dividers, define no-go zones, zones only for vacuuming or mopping exclusively, and more. The app will attempt to try and detect what types of obstacles exist in the room, and you can additionally place some generic furniture items on the map to better match your environment. Once you have your rooms setup, you can create different schedules based on specific rooms or have it clean the whole house. You also currently have the ability to create specific zones within rooms to go manually “spot” clean a zone if needed. You also have the ability to tie in voice control and request cleaning of specific rooms or the whole house. Quirky features, if the vacuum is connected to Wi-Fi, you can remotely check into the onboard camera and even talk and listen through the vacuum to touch base with pets or anyone else who might be nearby. The vacuum is also surprisingly quiet and its rubber coated brush does a good job at not getting all tangled up in hair. Let’s dive a touch deeper now into arguably the biggest feature of this vacuum, it’s obstacle avoidance system. We touched on the ability for the device to “map out” a floor plan, but the technology goes much deeper than that. Roborock’s ReactiveAI 2.0 Obstacle Avoidance system is what’s been needed in these vacuums for a long time. With the Roborock’s PreciSense LiDAR Navigation to quickly map an entire room, its structured light 3D scanner, RGB camera, and LED light to scan and identify the location and size of obstacles and hazards in both bright and dark rooms, you won't need to worry about this vacuum getting into any trouble. The Roborock utilizes machine learning and a dedicated neural processing unit to recognize numerous hazards from wires, shoes, and even pet waste and intelligently plots an adaptive route to avoid them all. I listed some of the notable features this product has. • Minimized human interaction with fully automatic wash + vacuum docking/station + self-refilling/emptying vacuum tanks, self-cleaning, etc. - just fill the docking station's water tank and you don't have to bother filling or emptying the tank for at least a few weeks (10+ runs). It also cleans the mop automatically after each run. • It has superior 3D mapping technology. It mapped out the entire place in the first run and picked the best route to clean avoiding zig-zag operations. It didn't bump against any furniture even while mapping the place. The one thing that I see can be improved on this device is the wire detection, it avoided few wires but failed to detect few wires by the wall and kept running into it. Am guessing, it will eventually learn and avoid those as well. It auto detected the rooms and obstacles named them as well - guessing it used the camera and lidar technology to identify the objects around and figure out what room it's in. • In terms of operation itself, it was quieter than two other brands that I currently use. Suction power comparable to the top brand ones in the market, and I did inspect the dustbin in the vacuum before it emptied it to see if it picked up the fine dust. I am allergic to dust and run my vacuums 4-5 times a week and this one did an equally impressive job of picking up the fine dust. It automatically detected the hardwood floor in the kitchen and bathrooms and turned on the sonic vibration mob. It didn't leave any streaks or wet trails on the carpet when it transitioned from hardwood moping to carpet cleaning. It did an equally good job on hardwood mopping compared to my $500 mop robot. I inspected the dirty tank water to gauge its mopping skills. • The app has all the features that you see on the new robo vacuums - room mapping, scheduling, suction and mop settings, obstacle detection and identification. The best part is the camera, you can remotely turn on the robot's camera and look to see what it's doing - a good feature for pet owners! You can also talk to people (and your pets ;-) at home via the robot's speaker!! Can be controlled by Alexa and Google Home. It also has voice guided features/messages when starting, self-cleaning, and guides you when it runs into issues and recommends what to do. It also has a smart feature for you to set the charging time to prevent it from charging during the peak hours - a super smart feature to save on energy bill! It also has a child lock feature to disable the buttons on the robo vacuum. Highly recommend for those who want to consolidate mop and vacuum products into one device and save on space and power consumption. Can't comment on the durability as I had it for a week. Price, performance, and value are comparable to the name brand ones in the market but definitely cheaper to own and maintain one bot that does both mopping and vacuum.
