Xiaomi Mi Robot Smart Vacuum Cleaner - Mop 2 Pro White

I've been using this for a few weeks now. I was initially hesitant to buy a robot vac, as my house has that 70s style of having decorative steps everywhere, meaning there were 5 levels (on a 2 story house). Anyway, it maps the levels really well, and does a really thorough job. Cannot stop raving about it to anyone.I'd heard some robo vacs don't do well on dark carpet, but this wasn't an issue at all.Really impressed with how it senses stairs and vacuums up to the edge. My house also has a weird ramp in one part, it fell down that and "needed help", but i just marked it as a blocked off area in future. Hasn't slid down it since. But again, just set it as a restricted area like a virtual wall.Negative:It doesn't charge well when it's on carpet, much better to charge it on wood/lino if you have that option.The xiaomi app doesn't always behave, I haven't been able to set up a schedule on that (for it to run at certain times), it tells me the wifi isn't strong enough. But I've set a schedule on Alexa and that works fine. I only use it for vacuuming on schedule, not mopping though.

The vacuum is efficient and picks up a lot of stuff. The mop function works well to keep things looking fresh.For best results tidy your house as much as possible before first use, and once it has created its map, you should tweak this in the map editor so each room or area is defined and named. You can later use this to do a room on its own and create schedules of mop areas vs carpet vacuum only. It's nice that the vacuum comes with a spare mop pad, brush, and a little tool for removing dust from the filter and hair from the mechanism. If you have a major spill then you should use a proper vacuum, but this thing is great for daily maintenance and I've absolutely noticed a difference in overall cleanliness since getting her. It's also nice that thanks to the mapping feature she knows where she's going and goes in straight lines, creating a satisfying pattern on the carpet/floors.Honestly, this would have been a 5 star review but I've found 2 downsides so far. Firstly, the app isn't great. In particular I can't set up the vacuum to do a scheduled clean - the one thing I bought it for - because whenever I try to set it up the app gives me an error message about "weak internet connection". It's full wifi signal on 1000Mbit fibre and everything else works fine, but this one particular feature blames bad internet connection for not being able to just set a time to automatically clean. So I'm having to manually trigger what should be an automatic clean every evening. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying.The second issue is that she sometimes has problems docking - she'll slowly back into the charging dock and then give up right as she's about to get there, and repeat about 5 times until she finally gets it right. Moving the dock to somewhere with more space around it seems to increase docking chance, but it's still rarely first time. However, we've made this into a positive by turning it into a drinking game, where bets are placed on whether she'll manage it this time.The only other slight negative is that while you can change the language of the robot's voice, it only has a female voice. Absolutely not a big deal, but I liked the idea of my robot being a bloke.All in all I'm glad we bought this little vacuum/mop robot. Hopefully the issues I mentioned can be resolved in a future software update - the hardware is sound.

While not having the move the chairs, it does make life simpler.Setup of the mobile app is fairly straight forward and allows control of functionality and locations to clean. Very reliable once mapped out and the battery life is great.One small issue I had with this model is the charging not working super effectively when dock was placed on thick carpet against the wall. Robot would constantly struggle trying to dock and when successful would often fall off the contacts which put the unit into offline mode until I manually redocked it. Moving it to hard floor to dock corrected this issue.Only other thing is that getting spare parts is a little tricky. Seems like all of the NZ stores are sold out for filters. I just get "Ben" (renamed the robot vacuum and this is no one's name in particular) to do a spot clean.The only other comments I would make are that it's not a replacement for a full-fledged vacuum (but very close to it). Make sure you have cords and cables off the floor otherwise it will get stuck but the app gives you an alert about this and it's location so you can find it with ease.

First try mapping the whole house I did not lift every thing off the floor so some areas where boxes had been when it mapped were missed every time. Also it did not seem able to dock properly. I reset and started again clearing all obstacles for the mapping this time, but still it could not dock properly. Took it and a video back to PBTech. Bought this on sale and was impressed with the ease of use and performance, I now use this every day as I have 2 dogs and every day the dust compartment is filled with dog hair. Was really easy to set up and the Xiaomi app works really well. I still do a full vacuum but now only do it fortnightly as the MI vac does a very good job. The mop function is average, and I find it easier to not use the mop function at all as I only have a relatively small amount of hard floor to clean. Recommend this product, this is the second Xiaomi product I have purchased and have found the build quality very good and functionality excellent for the price. It is one of my trusted brands now. Great budget robo vac, would highly recommend
