Very secure shockmount. Fits in the Rode NTK carrying case like a glove! The tightening mechanism is pretty nifty too.

This shock mount is awesome and B&H had it to me quickly and at a good price. It's light weight but sturdy and works great. I highly recommend the product and he service.

Definitely a better design than the squeeze/springy style. The mic goes thru the bottom and you screw it on with the mics own bottom nut. using this with an NT1000. sturdy and won't damage your mic. the adjustment mechanism feels a little cheap like i might break it some day, but so far I have not, so it retains a good rating from me.

Overall:I don't like to give bad reviews on gear unless it's really bad and this mount really does flip the bill. I don't know why Rode wouldn't just include a shock mount with the NTK mic but if you want a shock mount you have to purchase it separately and the only choice you have is the SM2.This is a composite mount which means it is plastic. The bonus of that is that it's lightweight the downside to that is that it's not built as well as metal shock mounts. It's very "bulky" and of all things it sags and doesn't hold well. If there isn't one thing I can't stand it's saggy, loose, limp shock mounts that cause me to readjust my microphone every 2 minutes. It's not just a Rode problem even Telefunkens have that issue. I just don't know why these companies spend ... MoreOverall:I don't like to give bad reviews on gear unless it's really bad and this mount really does flip the bill. I just don't know why these companies spend their time developing these great mics only to have them sit on the worst mounts known to mankind. I ended up returning the original I brought for an exchange I hope the exchange is built better because I really want a decent mount for my NTK and for the price of this one it's not worth it at all.
I got this with a used NT1A and it's obviously an upgrade over the included one but it doesn't grip the body, it only uses the screw fitting on the bottom to hold the mic, but it holds well. Construction and elastic band are robust and it seems to do the job really well. I like it.
I still give it 5 stars for being fully compatible with my NTK, only $50, and has given me NO hassle. I am a long user of Pro Audio Gear and I would like to suggest the the item be made of more metal parts and not just black plastic. Makes it inexpensive, but also very cheap feeling. But, Fifty bucks is not a bad deal for a shockmount made specifically for my brand of microphone. Im pretty sure there are nicer ones out there, but you will have to pay more than $50 for it. -PJ Presidential Entertainment
I'm really happy with it--quick and easy to install and move from stand to stand without having to wrench the heck out of my hands. The shockmount is sturdy and secure. I especially like that the threaded botom of the NTK slips through the aperture the washer locks it down solid. The NTK is a very substantial mic and weighs a ton, so it's a good thing the mount is built like a tank. Holds in place very well, even with all my reflexion chamber gear and pop filter all on the same atlas stand.I appreciate the integrity of the position clamp. In so many other shock mounts, the clamp is wimpy and has to be tightened with the strength of Hans and Franz. Great quality...I own the Rode NT1000 microphone and the shockmount is a perfect fit. It seems VERY solidly built, and I don't fear the mic falling at all. It is jet black and is impressive to vocalists when they come in to the studio. I like it and will own it forever...if I broke it I would get another. That goes for the NT1000 as well. Get this with confidence...
The first one that came with the NTK lasted about 6 months, along with all the constant frustration of it not upholding the weight of the relatively heavy NTK microphone it comes with, and subsequently having to tighten it down, further tiring out the already incapable and underspec'd hardware. I idiotically decided to give Rode another chance and purchased a second one thinking the first one was a B-stock fluke, but ended up yielding the same result. Failure do to cheap & supple plastic construction. To its credit, I believe it lasted a couple months longer, but that's still, frankly, pathetic. Unless that's your objective, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. I'll give it two stars because they still do the job they're supposed to... For a short amount of time albeit.
This shock mount has some great features. It is wide and can handle a large capsule. The spring rubber is very easy to wind through the spider work. The mic can screw onto the base very securely. Previously I had a spring clamp model with very hard to braid webwork. This is great. It is made of very sturdy, beefy, light weight plastic.
