Bought the remote less than a year ago and all of a sudden it stopped working. Love that it was rechargeable and even though we had to charge the remote several times (Replaceable batteries would've easily lasted longer), it's better than throwing batteries into e-waste. Only problem is that we now have to throw the rechargeable battery away (or the whole remote), cause it's dead. Apparently there's no warranty on the remotes, even though it's been less than a year. Tried to work with support, but they only talked about how my TV was not Roku branded. This would've been a great product, if the battery didn't die so soon. There is no use for a recheargable product, if you have to replace the product more often than the batteries in the non-rechargeable product.

I bought this remote because the original remote took a cola bath. I love my grandchildren but can't take your eyes of them for a second. PROS: Love the added mute button. This new remote seems to have a better microphone than my original remote as it picks up what I'm saying with better accuracy. I have found the hands free option quite useful a few times as well. The battery is at 67% with 23 days of use where my old remote was a battery hog. I appreciate the two added buttons to set my own favorite channels/apps. CONS: I don't have two of the pre-set apps so those buttons are wasted. I have a second tv with ROKU and there is nothing wrong with the remote for that device however this remote is definitely better and I will be getting a new remote for that tv as well.

Bought this a couple years ago back in April 2021. Worked for a while but the last several months it has stopped working randomly, then I plug it into power to charge and the supposed “charge” fluctuates randomly between 50% and 100%, then it works for a bit then inexplicably stops working again. Chatted with support for a while trying to resolve, maybe at least get a replacement charging cable, but of course not, “out of warranty” (shocking this happened just after 2 years lol). It literally only worked for 2 years, don’t get unless you are willing to spend 30 bucks for a new one every couple of years and waste a bunch of time talking to support for no reason. Get a battery powered one so you can control the battery yourself instead of depending on whatever ... MoreBought this a couple years ago back in April 2021. After my original remote stopped working after accidentally going through the washing machine, I splurged for the “fancy” remote. I had it for a month or two before I dropped it, while soaking my feet. I recovered it, quickly, but it did hit the water. This remote wasn’t even submerged for one second and I was able to grab it before it sunk further than a 1/2 an inch in the water. I towel-dried it well, and put the remote in rice for a couple of days. I learned it had a long range because even after putting the rice container on the other side of the house, I had to disconnect the remote from the Roku (via the mobile app) because every few minutes, it was directing the Roku player to the Home Screen or a channel/app from a shortcut button. That glitch didn’t persist after pulling it out of the rice, but the water damaged the volume function.I again had to disconnect the remote from the player because, even if used the TV remote to change the volume, it would “trigger” continuous action of the remote’s volume. If I turned the volume down, the remote kept turning the volume down. Even after the volume was on “0”, the flashing on the tv screen indicated that the volume down button was still being pressed. If I turned the volume up, the remote would keep turning it up to max volume. I paired and disconnected the remote a couple of times, but every time, the volume would begin changing as soon as the device was paired, and it would continue until I disconnected the remote from the device or the remote battery was dead.I wasn’t surprised that the first remote didn’t work after going through an entire wash cycle, but I didn’t expect that the small amount of water that this remote encountered, especially for such a short time, would cause catastrophic damage. There’s a million knock-offs on Amazon, for a fraction of the price, I opted for the authentic Roku remote under the assumption that I was paying the higher price for quality, rather than just the brand name on the device.
Functionality is not any better than the previous pro remote. Pain in the butt when it dies and you have to charge it and wait to use the remote again (mine got lost in the couch and was found dead). Then i have to pull out my phone as a remote until it charges. But hey, now that it has a non-replaceable battery, I can't expect this remote to survive more than a few years. Give us replaceable batteries, so we don't have to throw away the circuits and chips and plastic. And we can keep a battery pack charged so when it dies we have fresh ones to put in. You can make it replaceable and rechargeable. RC cars have been doing it for decades. Lithium ion is also really bad for the environment. Anyway, I'm not impressed. All my other remotes have lasted 5 years or more, and are usually destroyed by a dog or kid or something. These won't do that. But I'm sure ROKU thinks it will be great to get all those $50 remote sales in the near future.
This is my 2nd remote. The 1st remote worked fine out of the box with the Roku device as well as my Panasonic T.V. for about a month and a half. However, the remote finder feature would only work intermittently. After the month and a half passed, the TV control features stopped working all of a sudden. I followed all the troubleshooting steps, but nothing worked. I got a replacement and the same thing happened within a month. The only difference with the 2nd remote is that the remote finder feature never worked at all out of the box, so I just let it go. This remote is an unreliable pile of junk and total waste of money. The standard remote with the TCL 4 Series Roku TVs need direct line of sight to the sensor. Well, I have a TCL Roku Soundbar that I love, but it is a little too tall and blocks that sensor. I debated whether to get the Voice Remote or the Pro because I don't know whether I will use the private listening mode or not. In the end, the rechargeable feature is what sold me. Super easy to pair to the TV. Power on, press and hold the Home button for 5 seconds and select a new remote. I have yet to assign the favorite buttons. Not sure why Roku decided to display headphones on the box because it DOES NOT come with them. I have several sets so not a big deal for me.
I picked up this ROKU Voice Remote Pro because I had a Roku device that I changed the location the streaming stick was located and the remote I had was the Simple Remote that needed to have a line of site between the remote and Roku Streaming Stick. The new location I had to hide the cabling and the Streaming Stick be hidden. The Voice Remote Pro establishes a direct wireless connection between the streaming device and the remote. I tried using my smart phone as the remote but I had 3 different WiFi connections and the Roku device and the phone must be on the same WiFi network so every so often the phone remote app would not find the Roku until it got on the same network. 11 days ago I posted a critical review of this remote after my second one, owned for less than a year, lost the ability to connect my headphones using its jack. Roku responded and advised me to contact customer service, which I did via chat. Didn't expect more from Roku than the usual troubleshoot assistance. However, once I'd satisfied the rep that I actually had a non-working jack in my remote, they immediatedly offered to send me a new one within 5 biz days! I got the new one this past Saturday, two days ago, set it up and am now using it. Very pleased that Roku replaced this in spite of its being out of warranty. And that they offered to replace it without my requesting that was also very good. And that they offered to replace it without my requesting that was also very good. However, I'm still deducting one star from this updated review, as these jacks in my opinion fail too soon on all the Roku remotes we've owned. A weak point in an otherwise good product that I use multiple times daily and mostly appreciate.PS For those of you reading this with a broken headphone jack on your remote: While I waited to get the replacement remote, I used the Roku app on my Androie phone as a 'remote' and that set-up did work perfectly with my headphones. But you have to fiddle a bit to connect and disconnect the Roku device in the app every time before it will work as a remote, so it's not a totally smooth process. But once you are familiar with how to use the app, it does work well, and the sound through my headphones was better quailty than with their actual remotes. However, I still prefer having a physical remote in my hand compared to holding and using my cell phone in the darkened room with the virtual remote.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT! I have been using roku for years and was really excited for this remote because of the volume control. The remote has such an overwhelmingly STRONG chemically smell that I can't even use it. I have not had a similar problem with other roku products before. The remote actually stinks up the entire room it's in. Anything it touches takes on the smell (including hands when using it). It smells like a car smells after being detailed but even stronger. I'm very concerned about whether it's even safe. I purchased the remote in July of 2022 and as of February 2023, the smell has not faded at all. This purchase ended up being a total waste of money as I don't feel that it is safe to use.
