I really missed playing with roland action keys and a roland midi controller in general, so this has definitely been a surprisingly excellent product to use after a while. Familiar features, excellent weight action, works "just like i remember" but better.

I got the A-88 MKII to replace my original A-88 and couldn't believe the action was even better. It's somehow subjective, but I pity the fool who buys another hammer-action keyboard without having checked this one out first. Very solid and high quality, as one could expect from Roland.
I researched midi controllers that had the most realistic piano feel. After narrowing it down I decided to go with the Roland. I am not disappointed. It is great for playing Beethoven Joplin or some pop tune.

Everything I needed for studio and live performance.
The first one I received was defective, with the control panel not sitting flush against the keyboard, and should never have gotten past quality control at the factory. Kudos to Sam Ash for making the return/exchange process fast and easy. The replacement is the piece of equipment I was hoping for and is an absolute pleasure to play--expressive, responsive, and (I hope) built to last. (I think I actually like the combined mod wheel/pitch shifter, too.)
Purchased my A-88 mk II back in November of 2020. The controller doesn't come with a power supply, so I had to purchase this separately. Last week (4.5 months of ownership) the device stopped powering on. I've tried two new power cords (both PSB-120, which Roland recommends) and neither will power the device on. Roland support has informed me that I need to drive the controller to a repair shop, 2 hours away, and pay to have it repaired. Not a wise use of $1000. I'd recommend spending your money elsewhere.
