Works well. Delivers over 1 gigabit speed with Charter Spectrum. Charter overprovisions the 1gig plan by 1100megabits/per sec. If you have a cable modem that has a 2.5gig port with Charter, you can get the overprovisioned speeds with this router. Currently I am pulling down 1060mb/s with steam and blizzard downloads. So I am getting 120mb/s extra with this router vs spectrums rental. Not to mention this thing is eons more powerful than what spectrum gives out. Well worth the upgrade if you want to eek out more speed from your Charter gigabit plan.

It has great performance as a router. I personally love the fact that Asus provides free DDNS services and easy setup for a home VPN access. the 2.5GB port on the WAN and 1 of the LAN ports allow you to take advantage of the full speeds of your internet connection as well. Can enable all QOS and protections without a hit to routing performance.Cons: the latest ver. 388 firmware is BUGGY and not stable. Basic routing performance drops by half with the latest firmware, BUT you can load older firmware revisions (i'm using ver. 386) and with that i have no problems. You lose WireGuard as a VPN option, but OpenVPN gives you more customizations anyways.

Ordered this May 2022. Recieved it in June. Love it! Rarely loose a connection. My old wifi router was dropping connection and buffering alot. No problems at all with this Router. Performance is excellent. You have so much control with the app you have to download. Takes about 20 minutes to setup. I'm impressed. Bandwidth is not a problem. I can have 12 devices connected and no issues. I'm not pushing it to it's limit like some lol. Buy it and you wont regret it. I waited months to give a review. Only makes sense to do so.

Its easy to setup this router via their Asus app. But the network gives up and cannot reach 1 level up nor down. The speeds reduce drasctially if you move away from it. I have 5 Gbps At&t network and this router(has 2.5Gbps max output when you are close to the router)hence doesn’t meet my requirement. Will opt for Netgear Orbi instead. One more thing would like to add here is if you are planning to go above 1Gbps internet plan do remember you need to upgrade your switches from 1Gb port to 5Gb or 10Gb port(expensive ethernet/SFP+ switches). Also, I would recommend CAT6A/CAT7 cables to get the best speeds for all the devices. Only a few routers in the market have 1 x 10Gbps port on it. I picked this up after getting intermittent signal drops with my aging Linksys WRT 1900ACS and wanting to modernize my network.Pros:1.) Very fast 5ghz connectivity at ranges spanning my home and most of my yard.2.) 2.5Gb NIC - great for compatible NAS systems with 4k transcoding3.) Easy to use software to setup and configure your network including VPN support and local NAS drive using an external USB drive.Cons:1.) Size and form factor - this is not a small router, and given its feet geometry it is nigh impossible to wall mount2.) AI Mesh is still pretty buggy when not using a wired back-endThis is probably as top tier a 5ghz wireless router as it gets. I'd safely say that this should be the go to option unless you have several 6GHz (Wifi6) ... MoreI picked this up after getting intermittent signal drops with my aging Linksys WRT 1900ACS and wanting to modernize my network.Pros:1.) I'd safely say that this should be the go to option unless you have several 6GHz (Wifi6) compatible devices that live within 10ft of your networking hub or really need a 10Gb NIC for your NAS setup. I've been getting about 850mbps at the top floor where my router is located, ~500mbps on the main floor, and ~350 is the basement, nearly doubling what my 1900ACS what providing if I could stay connected at all.I dabbled with both the Asus and Netgear Mesh offerings before setting on the GT-AX6000, and had marginally better performance and fewer connectivity drops with this single device solution than the 3-hub versions of the same AX6000 speeds. That said, I was not using the mesh with a cabled backend (house isn't wired for it) and have a boiler/radiant heat solution which leads to water piping everywhere, thus doing no favors to the backend bandwidth.
This router is expensive and large, but the expense and size is commensurate with the features that are packed into it. There are a lot of configuration options and gaming tools and tweaks to help you get peak performance and have hassle free management. The thing that lets it down is the same thing as previous ASUS routers being the McAfee and other 3rd party service integration that promises packet prioritisation and enhanced firewall protection servicer to name a few, at the cost of collecting all the data about you and your network. You do not have to use these services but if you do want to use them then you MUST agree to the data collection or it will not enable.
Excellent router, with no change in service provider, this router removed our online gaming issues and remote work (lag with remote desktop application). With a connection averaging speeds of between 10 to 20 Mbps we are able to game online or work remotely with splashtop remote access. Software. Wi-Fi coverage in 2 story home is three time further than verizon provided lte home router.Setup is easy, software is great. Would highly recommend router to others. Worth the money. Latency is significantly better, before router some applications would not load, time out and throw an error code, with new router they load almost instantaneously.
I wanted to replace an Asus AC3100 with a router that was capable of AX for a select number of new devices (iphone 13's). The previous one was fantastic with excellent range (two slow spots in the house) for a 3,400 square foot house and almost never required a reboot. Extremely happy so far. The range seems to be very similar but I am now getting slightly faster speeds on all 5ghz legacy devices as well as significantly more speed with AX devices. The router has been stable and I have not has to reboot once since I turned it on. I love Asus routers plus you do not have to pay additional fees for some of the features like other brands. Please note, that the previous Asus router before the AC3100 was terrible but I am glad I kept with them. I have had this router for several weeks now. It has increased the download speed considerably (+100gb) over the old nighthawk I had.I utilize both 2.5G ports. Wan with my modem and three pcs that have 2.5G ports using a 2.5G switch. Speed testing two of the 3 pcs on that port gave me the speed increase noted above. As far as wifi saturation, it completely covers my 2600 sqft one level home with no loss of throughput. This happening with my router located at one end of the house no less and competing with over 10 other wireless networks from my neighbors.I like it!
I purchased this ASUS ROG GT-AX6000 as an upgrade to my ASUS RT-AX82U mesh system. No issues with the previous router. I pay for 1Gbps/1Gbps up/down on fiber with Cat6 going to router and other clients. I’ve consistently gotten 3mbps upload speeds hardwired to one client. I’ve completed several firmware updates to include Merlin firmware. It did not fix the issue. Tested WiFi upload speeds to an AX client (iPhone 13 Pro) and was able to get an avg of 80mbps at the most.I contacted ASUS support to have my router repaired under manufacturer warranty. I was out of the return policy due to me being optimistic and waiting for firmware updates to rollout. I was hoping this was an isolated issue and possibly defective hardware. I was out of the return policy due to me being optimistic and waiting for firmware updates to rollout. I was hoping this was an isolated issue and possibly defective hardware. I’ve done plenty of research on the ASUS forums and Reddit. It is a known issue without a fix. I had detailed troubleshooting to rule out other variables such as my ISP and cables. Believe me, I wanted this router to work. I specifically noted in my troubleshooting notes to ASUS that to please do not send me a new unit and just test/repair this known issue. ASUS sent me a brand new router and no details on diag/tests being done. The current work around that I have found to work is to enable dual-WAN and set it to use WAN(2.5Gbs) port and Ethernet LAN 4. I set LAN 4 as primary and 2.5 WAN port as secondary. I left 2.5 WAN port unplugged. I now can have functioning 1Gbps up/down speeds. I don’t recommend this router (until they have a solid fix) for those that require >1.5Gbps up/down speeds from ISP.I work 100% remote with over 17 years experience in Cyber Security. My ASUS RT-AX82U performed as expected while waiting for my ASUS GT-AX6000 to be repaired. As of this writing, (22 Sept 2022) there are no known fix to this issue. I hope this review helps. Kind regards.
