I adopted a 19 pound chonker, and I've been struggling to find a good weight loss food for her. Hills makes her throw up, and she will not touch wet food. I can feed her 65 grams of this a day, and she's been steadily dropping weight and begging a lot less. It hasn't stopped, but it's gone down. Mostly, now she just runs around meowing while I measure out her food. She's gone from 19 pounds in September to 16 at the end of January.

My cat had been on a prescription for over a year for a calming urinary track health food. And it did the trick. She no longer needs to be on that food. But now she won't eat anything else. And I was looking for something that would help perhaps depress her appetite because since we moved away from our home where she could go out, she's been gaining weight from boredom. Chewy helped me pick the best food that will keep her healthy and has a slight appetite modifier. And she eats it! In fact, she really likes it. And she is eating smaller portions now. So I really hope this helps. I'm very grateful to Chewy's wonderful customer service representatives, who take the time to help us go through every food, offered to find what we need. Thank you, Chewy.

I got this food in the hopes that my cat would lose weight and stop begging for food in between meals. So far, neither has happened. She seemed to like the food well enough the first couple of days. But now, eleven days in, she doesn't want the food, she hasn't lost even one ounce and she is begging for food.I did mix her old food with this new food for a week, but she was letting the old food sit and eating only the new. Now she eats only a few bits of the new and starts begging for something else. For the price (I did get this first bag at 50% of original price, thankfully), this is a very expensive test to see if the product works as advertised.I'm looking at other weight loss foods for my next Chewy autoship order.

I'm a practicing veterinarian who has always fed my kitties Royal Canin. You just can't deny the results of this great food. My babies's coats are soft and shiny and rarely sheds. I fed my girls RC Kitten Spayed/Neutered diet immediately after I spayed them; and switched them over to Appetite Control Adult. My queens, Cleopatra and Nefertiti love the food. I wouldn't feed them anything else. Thanks RC!!
I took in an emaciated stray who still has an insatiable appetite. However, before switching to this food, she would scream at all hours for food. I purchased a time feeder, and feed very small portions of this throughout the day. She still does beg for food, but the frequency is much less. I switched her over to a different food for a few days to see if her behavior would change; and it did. She was constantly screaming for food. She hasn’t really lost much weight, but I got this more so for the constant obsession this sweet girl has with food.
This month I purchased Royal Canine cat food. Again, the Ragdoll version was not available (not really a big deal) so I purchased another variety. The store smells so bad upon entry that I gag each time. I understand that there are animals in the store but a clear investment would be something to stifle some of the odor. I don't have an army of pets and I keep my kitty box clean with the expense kitty litter box and monthly cleaning devices. I suggest your store invest in some of the expensive items to control the odor.
I’ve had my lovely tuxedo girl, Tasha on Royal Canin’s Indoor Dry Cat food since fall, and she gladly eats it. I also feed her a 3 ounce can of Fancy Feast a day. But I saw she was gaining weight, so I decided to try this, the appetite control Royal Canin offering. She will only eat a bite or two of this at a time as a last resort. I did combine it with the previous dry per the directions. I’ve had other cats that would literally eat anything I gave them, but Tasha is finicky. If that describes your cat, perhaps try something else. I’ve decided to go back to what I used to feed her, just smaller portions.
Two weeks in and the results are horrible! My cat has never been a beggar, but now spends every waking minute begging to be fed. She wakes me hours before normal wake-up time hoping to be fed. The payoff for 2 weeks of incessant begging is she has gained weight instead of losing. Recent vet check revealed no medical reason for weight gain. I've always been very careful with portion control based on indoor lifestyle. This has been an disappointing waste of money.
I split my cat’s meals into two so I feed once in the morning and once at dinner time. I had been using the indoor adult cat food which might work well for most indoor cats but mine would start knocking her dishes around and trying to get me to feed her again after a couple hours. Switched to this food and it’s like she actually remains full for a while. She still has an interest in food but there isn’t begging in between meals and she doesn’t just scarf everything down at once. I pair this with the recommended wet food and they work great together. It feels like she can have a normal healthy food routine and stays full in between meals. Can’t recommend this food enough for anyone else in a similar predicament.
I have an overweight ginger female cat. She loves this dry food as well as the wet Appetite Control - switched from Friskies Fillets. She is addicted to food and would probably eat the whole bag in a day or two if she got to it. I am able to satisfy her with small 1/8 cup feedings and one 3oz can given in 3 feedings in one day. She was close to 18#. She got to 16.2 and then I think she got in the other cat's food and gained a little. She's on the way back down the scale. Her poop is better -- had a lot of problems with scooting. Overall I am very glad she likes this food. It is expensive but very much worth it.
