Yes it's expensive but if your cat is happy to eat it regularly then the extra is not a waste. I tried several of the other recommended renal diets but this is the one that my oldies both eat regularly, the others there would be the novelty and then after 3 or 4 days they would turn away and at their ages it is unwise to force the issue by refusing them any other food.The slightly strange thing is that my neighbours cat will force his way in to eat this even though he is pampered at home!

I mix the three different Renal blends together for my cat. It’s great that this blend comes in a little bag, let me test it and means I can buy a few types without breaking the bank.

Although Royal Canin renal foods are quite expensive, our cat's healthier diet has improved her health and quality of life. We will be continuing to use is as she enjoys the variety of dry food, especially the smaller nibbles - 'Renal Special'.
We bought 400g sizes of both Renal Special and Renal Select to see which one our fussy old Siamese would eat. She loves both and now frequently follows us into the kitchen and complains bitterly if we don't give her one or the other whether is her mealtime or not. Special is her favorite of the two.
Bruno is a brown tabby in his eighteenth year. I don't think he has shown a preference for the special food so far over the Royal Canin RF23. His favourite is definitely the Hills Kidney Diet (chicken flavour)this is possibly because he has always had the Hills Science Diet as his dry food from being a kitten. He eats all 3, but the Hills is finished first. That is why it is not 5 stars!
