My vet recommended this for an elimination diet for my dog. Although initially he ate it, he now is very reluctant to eat it and has to be encouraged. His allergy is possibly not food related as he’s still very itchy, no improvement. His poops 💩 are fine with this and no sickness, no I’ll effects from what I can see, but I don’t think the food is very nutritious judging from ingredients. It is also quite expensive but if it suits your dog then great. If it had stopped my dogs itching I would consider keeping him on this food and possibly trying to add some meat/fish/veg to it eventually.

This is expensive, but it is a specialist Veterinary diet. My dog, after several months of being sick, was finally diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (not to be confused with IBS). Since diagnosis he has been on this food, and only this food for the last two years. He will stay on this food for the rest of his life. It can be quite greasy, and I can't give him large amounts, due to ease of weight gain, but he loves it, and if it's keeping him healed and healthy I'm very happy. I asked my specialist Vet if I could put him back to a more conventional diet, but the reply was that 50% of dogs that go off this diet relapse. So I'm happy to keep him on it, and he seems to be happy and healthy.

My dog had been suffering with diarrhoea for months on and off before we tried this food. The change was instant. His motions are now normal, he's put on weight and he looks generally a lot healthier. He took to it no problem as well. It smells awful to us but he loves it. A good food to get your dog on to settle their gut and give it time to settle and repair. We will introduce different proteins 1 at a time now to determine what he's sensitive to. The only downside of this food is the price, we can't afford for him to be on it long term.

This food transformed my dog's life! He had numerous sensitivities which resulted in digestive; ear; skin problems to name a few. He loved lots of other foods, dry and wet BUT he reacted badly to them or the various ingredients in them . The anallergenic feed is expensive compared to other foods but it is a anallergenic food not just a 'hypo sensitivity' type food. Since feeding this to my doggy he is healthy and happy and we have with much less visits to see the vet!

My dog has got a long list of foods she's allergic to. The vet put her on medication as well as Royal Canin Anallergenic dry kibble. She's been on it for the 3 years now and the symptoms (throwing up blood) have stopped. Even though it smells lovely (like veggie boulion), it can become boring to get fed the same food every single day so I mix it with cooked (winter) or frozen (summer) vegetables which are not on the list. She's been doing really well and we are going to buy this for as long as she needs it. Price wise it's not the cheapest but lasts for a while and to me what matters the most is that my rescue Beagle is happy.

When your special furry/ hairy four legged best friend can only eat these biscuits then they are the tops to me Without them out little Millie may not make it The only other choice was stronger cancer style steroids and cooked/ braised turkey breast ( not too wonderful as cooked unseasoned turkey is gross and minus many vits )We make them into treats by games eg hiding them, puzzles etc She enjoys the game and sees the biscuits as something quite diff thenThey keep her alive what more need I say They smell of marmite but don’t really taste of marmite Trust me I’ve triedMillie’s been on them a few yrs now and gets all her all vits and is very lively with a good shines coat

I can't reccomend enough. Was on yhe fence for a long time after our vet said the hypoallergenic food would suffice. However after a very long and expensive period of illness.. our dog suffered chronic colitis, hair loss, blood in stools, frequent pain and discomfort poor mood, lethargy, dangerously low heart rate.. list goes on.. as he was still poorly on the hypoallergenic food the though he had addisons. We tried this food as a last ditch resort before giving our dog regular blood tests and injections as per addisons but after a week on this everything changed. Its cheaper than the hypoallerginc.. smells decent.. he loves it.. also doubles as a safe treat.

Brilliant food

My dog has multiple allergies to all meats, cereals and grains. Most household environment allergies and we have battled with his itching and his ears had been a horrible mess for a couple of years. Constant trips to the vets, multiple ear medications, flushes and allergy tests. It is well worth getting an allergy test done as it showed what he was allergic to and what he could eat. This food has been a life saver, within 2 months his ears are totally cleared for the first time since being a puppy. He is more energetic and happier than ever. The food is pricy but it is well worth it for the happiness of my pet.

My 6 year old English Bull Terrier has been on this diet for most of his life under Vet Dermatology management at MSVC. His skin quality, overall health and allergy tolerance is improved on this diet in comparison to other "skin" , "sensitive" ," allergy" or "grain free"/ "gluten free" protein diets by other leading brands.Overall this diet results in much easier management of canine atopy. However, complete medical management is always multifactorial with often intensive topical and/or oral derm pharmaceuticals in addition to diet alone. An interesting routine find on blood tests results might be worth mentioning. My dog's cholesterol levels are consistently very high. Trig levels >16 (solely on this diet). His vet care team have advised not to worry about cholesterol levels in dogs like we do in humans. However it was an interesting find and was discussed by multiple vet clinicians. It would be interesting to study cholesterol levels in dogs solely on Anallergenic in comparison to an alternative. Will there be long term sequelae with continued management on Anallergenic? Is this the best option available for our allergy suffering canines?

Review of ROYAL CANIN® Anallergenic Veterinary Health Nutrition Dog Food-8kg
16 March 2023

This food seems to suit my dog that has recently been diagnosed with allergies and an underactive thyroid, both of which can cause major skin issues which mine has. So its a process of elimination. This food seems to have suited his stomach as no more issues of sickness or loose stools, which he has had spells off in the past, even on a grain free high end wet and dry food diet. His skin is slowly beginning to heal, but it could be numerous things contributing to that, but none the less, the food has been great and I will continue to use this for the future.Thank you for your speedy service.
