RoyalBaby: BMX Freestyle - 12" Bike (Orange)

This bike was purchased by my husband and I for my son as a Xmas gift. At the time he was 3 , just shy of 2 months. He was very comfortable with a tricycle and we wanted to make sure he had a bigger bike with training wheels this year, as he def out free the tricycle. We could not be happier with this purchase. My son absolutely loves this bike and the color plus the color bright so you can see from a distance - not that he’s going to far I mean the kids almost 4. Anyways my husband put it together in less then 20min. I love the bell and the water bottle that comes with it too. It’s perfect height which I was nervous about with the seat and the petals bring to far - but it’s not. Also he can get in and off himself no problem. Plenty of room to grow into as well. Somewhere in transit the package was open accident purpose I don’t know when delivered the top of the box was not sealed. Oh and it’s got super thick tires that help with keeping the kids sturdy - no joke like bmx thick tires lol

These are GREAT bikes, hands down one of my best Amazon buys. That being said, theres assembly issues you need to know.On the positive side which imo far outweighs the negative these are just well made bikes. We bought one each for our 5yo twins. The bikes were on the brink of being too big, but I figured worse case scenario, wed garage them for a few months. No need. Having only trike experience prior, both my kids got on and went. Theyre super sturdy, with minimal wobbles on a good surface and definitely inspire confidence. They look sharp, and really are just perfect for the beginner rider. When we put our two together easy assembly, took 5 min tops, my husband did one and I did the other. While Im generally pretty handy, we found that the one I put together kept losing a peddle. Like it would spin off mid ride. Husband hulk-style tightened it, issue resolved. The handlebars did the same, and still need some adjusting occasionally. The worst is that the training wheels WILL loosen up. Its just going to happen. We had one kid blow out down the bike path at 100 ft/hr he was really ripping for a Pre-K kid, only to turn it into a full out bronc ride when left his training wheel in the dust, got the speed wobbles, then finally ate dirt when his bike dropped its shoulder and ducked right. I was a proud cowboy mom, he was a sad, bloodied biker kid. Had to carry him home. So my word of advice for those of you who either dont like to see their kids upset or just dont like to carry around dead crying weight, is to invest in a spool of thread seal tape, wrap up your peddles and training wheel threads, and tighten them until you or it almost breaks. The bike was very easy to assemble frame, chain, etc. already pre-assembled you simply need to assemble and tighten the handlebars, pedals, seat, and training wheels. We’ve used the bike about 5 times now and have not had any major issues.The ONLY issue is very very minor - the nuts that secure the training wheels can loosen a bit after each use. This is to be expected! There is a lot of stress on training wheels of any bike brand, so you should just check that the nuts are tight before each use. When I say loosen, I mean very, very little loosening. In my case, the left side training wheel nut can loosen not even a quarter of a turn. I bought two of these:The 16 inch pink bike for my daughter who will be turning 5 next week. I did not take her measurements, but she is a size 5/6 in tops and pants right now for size comparison. The bike is great with the training wheels, but it is too big for her to handle without them yet. If I had known what I know now, I would have bought her one size down to start off with. For now, she can ride this with the training wheels to get used to it and we will just keep her much smaller bike until she has made a full transition.The 18 inch blue bike for my 7 1/2 year old Son - Again, no measurements, but he is a size 7/8 for size comparison. It is nice and sturdy and I love the look. especially the fact that the pink is still girly looking but has BLACK tires, not the dang white tires that most little girls bikes have We live on a farm, so no sidewalks. Just dirt, gravel and grass to ride on. These bikes ride just fine on the rough terrain.My kids love that the bikes came with a water bottle.The 1634 bike has a firmer white seat with what sort of looks like a hand grip in the back. The 1834 bike has a slightly cushier black seat - like a normal bike seat. Neither of the kids have mentioned that they especially love or dislike their seats. Both bikes have brake, which is nice - although my daughter is still getting used to using it - its a little big for her tiny hands. I would recommend getting the hang of that before going down any hillsAnd last - the assembly was pretty easy - They came mostly assembled already. It took about 15 minutes per bike Putzing speed to get everything ready to go. One bike came with the tires ready to go and one bike needed to have the tires inflated before riding.Overall, these have been great bikes so far and I am very pleased with the purchase!

I bought this bike for my 5 year old. It arrived nicely and on time. Assembling it was a breeze. I looked at the video on Amazon and followed the instructions. It didnt take more than 20 minutes to assemble it. The bike is very sturdy and well made. It rides very well and my son has no problem using it with the support wheels. Sometimes, i feel the support wheel is coming lose in which case i need to tighten the screw a bit. That is the only issue i have faced so far. I do want to say that i tend to take out the support wheels at times and then put them back on again so my son can practice without the support wheels. It is possible that im not tightening the screws on the support wheels properly when i put them back on. Either way, i dont think this is a major ... MoreI bought this bike for my 5 year old. This is our second royal baby bike. We bought one for our son and our daughter who needed a larger bike loved his so much so we got her a pink one. This bike is definite heavy duty compared to the charActer bikes they sell at Walmart. The frame and larger tires feel much more sturdy and expensive. I love that this is a pink bike with black wheels! I’ll never understand the white wheels. This bike while feels heavy duty and strong, is still easy to carry. We have a gravel driveway and live next to a trail and they ride on both fine. I like that the seat has a little something on the back to keep her on. My daughter loves the water bottle and holder. My kids love their bikes so much, and they are so comfortable, they literally sit on them and watch tv in our tv room. And yes, they ride great on carpet as well. I’ll never buy another cheap character bike again. If your looking and reading reviews, order it, I promise you won’t be disappointed. Also, both times I ordered the bike, it arrived much quicker than the estimated delivery date. We haven’t had any issues so far and when the time comes for our other child to get a bike, we’ll be upgrading to one of these as well.

Dangerous design for little tykes

This bike is super dangerous as the hand brakes are for front wheel and kids at this age do not have coordination skills needed to discern between when to use front (hand) and back (petal) brakes. My four year old went flying over the handlebars and had to have stitches in his chin. Wish I would have realized this sooner. Thanks.

Great bike!

We are giving this five stars in spite of the fact that it arrived not packaged well and with a damaged seat. It is a well made and attractive bike, and our 4-year-old grandson loves it. We patched the damaged seat with electrical tape, then emailed the manufacturer with pictures. They sent a replacement seat within 3 or 4 days! Pretty great to get that level of service. The bike was easy to assemble and included the necessary tools. I think at least one other reviewer mentioned that the tools were missing from their box and I can see how that happened, as ours fell out of the box as soon as we moved it from our front porch!

MISSING PARTS

I purchased this bike for my son and though he does love it, it is missing parts. It was missing the water bottle holder and the water bottle. We purchased this online because they did not have the 14 inch in stock in store. All of the 12 inch bikes we saw in store had the water bottle/holder installed on the bike and it is listed in the product description as coming with the bike. I have reached out to customer service with no response. Not a big deal but it is when you spend $160 on a bicycle and the product is listed as coming with the bike.
