Daisy is a super mutt, 9 months and about 48 pounds, broad chest and skinny legs. I typically get her medium items, but based on the previous reviews and sizing chart, I went with the small. It fits her perfectly! I was worried about chafing but there is no issue thus far. This sweater would be perfect for layering. She wears it inside and outside, and she is able to run and play without restriction. The material is super comfortable although the stitching could be better but not a real issue. She wore the sweater in the snow today, and it dried super fast and was ready each time she needed to go out. She stayed dry underneath which was surprising because she really leaps through brush and whatnot. Great purchase, super happy and so is she.

We needed a lighter layer to wear alone or under her larger coat. The Large fit is good for my long, 71lb hound/lab mix who measures ~27in long. I do wish Ruffwear had more adjustability - elastics, straps, anything. My biggest issue is there was not a harness hole. Wearing the harness on top (pictured) didn't fit well around the neck and seemed uncomfortable, adding & removing layers I'd prefer the harness underneath. I added a harness hook hole and stitched it up for durability, and it fits and looks much better now (also pictured). They should've just added a harness hook hole... Also not a fan of how to put it on with the side zipper. Otherwise, it's a decent fleece, just needs some design improvements. I do love that her belly is covered and warm.

Such a great fleece zip up, so easy to put on, I love that you don’t have to go over the head to get it on. Great fit, sits snugly and good length for more coverage and warmth. It’s seriously handsome and great quality, very happy with this product! Finn is long and thin approx 30lbs size small is perfect on him.

The coat fits well and seems to keep Riley warm. At first, she was a little reluctant to wear it, but quickly switched to accepting, perhaps welcoming, it. She has a thin coat and we put the coat on her whenever the temperatures drop below freezing. After she has been out, feel under the coat that she isn't cold. The only drawback is that she is extremely active and sometimes, the sleeves wear on the front of her legs. We have tried rolling the sleeves above her 'elbow' and that seemed to help.
Our dog loves this sweater. He has not been a fan of his raincoat and other clothing but this is soft and comfortable. Washed it once so far and it kept its shape. Side zipper is terrific and we love how the seams are reflective. We put his harness over it as there is no hole for a harness ring if you were to wear it underneath.Only criticism would be that he was playing with other dogs and a small hole ripped in the side from rough play/claws.
I had purchased this sweater for both of my dogs last year, when my youngest was still a puppy. It fits adult Boxer/Pit Bull mix really well, and fit my Rhodesian Ridgeback well when she was younger. Since she's much bigger now, I just ordered a new one in a larger size. Unfortunately, this one doesn't fit her at all. It's very tight across the chest between her front legs, but enormous in the neck to the point it was creating a crowl-like pouch at the top of her chest below the neck opening. She couldn't walk well in it because of the restriction of her front legs, and the looseness around her neck would mean the wind would just blow right down it. Kinda defeats the purpose of a sweater. Again, it fits my pittie really well, but he has a deep chest and a shorter ... MoreI had purchased this sweater for both of my dogs last year, when my youngest was still a puppy. She couldn't walk well in it because of the restriction of her front legs, and the looseness around her neck would mean the wind would just blow right down it. Kinda defeats the purpose of a sweater. Again, it fits my pittie really well, but he has a deep chest and a shorter thicker neck in proportion than she does. If you have a dog with a build like a ridgie (Weimaraners, Dalmatians, etc.), i.e. broad deep chest with a longer more slender neck in proportion to the chest, this probably won't work well for you. Sadly this year's sweater for my girl is going to have to go back.
Our long coat chihuahua is around 5 1/2 pounds with a longish body. The chest measurement showed that it would fit, and it does around the chest. But it’s too long and interferes with his stand up tail and covers his privates, so it wouldn’t work outside. Also the neck area is all a bit cramped with too much thick material and a bit tight. The front leg area, on the other hand, is a bit loose, so he got his leg stuck inside while we were seeing if it would work. It’s so very well made and so warm, and is the smallest size available, so I decided to keep it anyway for those cold mornings in the house. I’m going to try to sew the material back so his tail can stand up. I really wish it would fit - I love it.
If you have an aging dog and live in a winter climate, this sweater is a good investment in their health. When the weather is in the 30’s or 40’s the Fernie sweater is a great alternative. My dog Woody is 12 and enjoys hanging out on the balcony. Now he can do that and stay warm. The fit is great (Woody is slim and medium sized so we got M.) And the grey is very handsome. It’s easy to get into and out of thanks to the side zipper. Very happy we got this for him!
This fleece jacket is well-designed, warm, and made with good materials including the zipper. I initially wanted another climate changer fleece jacket but didn't like the color choices. I was pleasantly surprised how well it fit my 40 lb dog in a size medium. The teal color looked better than online. We also got lots of compliments on our walks. So now I'm going to get another color, the Hibiscus pink. Despite others saying the material or threads falls apart easily, I have not yet had a problem, and am very conscientious about handling the jacket delicately just in case. My smooth Border Collie wears this most of the time indoor and out because she lost a lot of weight due to illness. I have even used it as a first layer with a ruffwear rain jacket over it. My Yorkie Max is around 8 lbs and fits in an XXS, Opal my Pitty weighs 70 lbs and wears a Medium. I went off my dogs normal size and had to return the larger sizes for smaller ones. I used the girth sizing chart the second time around and I would recommend you use it as well. It was easy to put on them, the only thing is I have to be careful zipping Max into his jacket when his fur grows out it can get caught in the zipper. Not a big deal as the jacket has a specific feature for just that but it has to be laid flat. I bought this specific jacket for the dogs to use in cold weather but would not recommend to use on snow days as it’s not water resistant but it dries fairly quickly. Overall, the design and quality are great. I will continue to purchase this jacket in ... MoreMy Yorkie Max is around 8 lbs and fits in an XXS, Opal my Pitty weighs 70 lbs and wears a Medium.
