We have a rescue mini sheepadoodle who has a lot of anxiety especially during fireworks season. So he needs a comfortable but reliable harness that prevents backing out if a sudden sound occurs even during daylight hours. I looked up reviews and researched harnesses to find that this Flagline harness kept coming up as a top recommendation. It is FANTASTIC!! My dog is 42 lbs, 25 inch girth, 15 inch neck, and 19 inch back. The small harness fits him perfectly! It is super easy to adjust to give him a custom fit and being a doodle his hair grows long & puffy fairly quickly in between grooms but the strap ajustmentments are so easy to use that I can give him some extra room or cinch it tighter with very little effort as needed. Once adjusted the straps stay put (which isn't always the case with many harnesses I have found!) and even have a mechanism that keeps them tight so any extra strap isn't flapping around. Love this feature! The handle is a very nice feature because I use it to help him into our vehicle for car rides and it has come in handy to hold him steady safely if he encounters a new situation until he feels brave enough to investigate on his own. I also like the way it hits and gently hugs his body as it must give him some feeling of reassurance similar to his calming vests because he seems more relaxed. I have found that even with using the leash attachment on his back he doesn't seem to want to pull like he used to with his previous front connector harness so walks are definitely more enjoyable with this Flagline harness and less complicated! The lightweight fabric is durable & well stitched yet doesn't overheat my dog with unnecessary thickness or padding. I also appreciate that each buckle & clasp is intentionally positioned over fabric and in areas that are easy for me to hook & unhook near his back along the sides. This means they also don't rub on my dog's skin, catch hair, or dig into him either which gives him free and comfortable movement. I can't say enough great things about this harness and even my dog looks forward to it going on him. I plan on confidently recommending this product to every dog owner I know.

With the way my dog's body is and how she likes to sometimes try to attempt to back out of her harness if I don't move the same direction as her the front straps that go under her belly will 'lock' into place under her front legs and the second pair of straps on her belly will keep the harness in place so there is no slipping of the harness over her head.I typically utilize the metal leash clip that is located on the top of the the harness for everyday walking and going to/from locations. But when we go out to areas that I run her on a 25ft+ lead I'll utilize the back loop on the harness which is fantastic and gives her mobility to not get caught up on the long leash as much and freedom to run. I have utilized the front no-pull loop a little bit and it seems to work but typically haven't used it much.Final verdict: If you have a dog that you are worried about escaping out of their harness or you are looking for a lightweight vibrant harness then I highly recommend the Flagline by Ruffwear! I absolutely love Ruffwear's line of equipment and have bought numerous other pieces of gear from them and they have a customer for life for all my dog needs!

I love this harness! I was looking at this harness on the Ruffwear website for YEARS before deciding to finally get it. The first straps behind the elbows are so far back! There's no rubbing at all, so she's doing the full range of motion with her shoulders. I'm so happy I finally bought it. She is wearing the size small, even though she's a large/XL in basically all other dog gear. I was worried about that, but went with the measurement guide. It is spot on. She's right on the edge of small/medium, but in the medium the undercarriage piece would have gone well beyond her ribcage. That isn't ideal for lifting. If you're dog is between sizes as well, I suggest going smaller if they are adults, unless they are exceptionally long.

Using ruffwear for multiple dogs over decades and sorry to see the quality has declined to plastic none locking smaller buckles. Its a shame that even the sizing has decreased. It was a good thing i notice even the neck is looped through plastic now not metal. If zi had noticed in store I would’ve purchased. But thankfully before walk i did and looped a carabiner as the plastics was useless after one walk. The buckles which use to be more robust on the Xl are just the same as on the smaller sizes and the one metal leash connector is too small for my leash attachment so there too I had to add a carabiner just to attach leash. The only thing done right is the actual harness is long enough but the straps around chest and belly are too short for xl dog. For over $65 ... If your dogs pulls at all or is a puppy or lunges at all at sudden noises skip this harness it won’t last the buckles are not strong enough nor is the neck where it loops together (weakest point of the whole harness) and if you don’t use a little dog leash you will have to add something to it to be-able to hook a leash too.
Our dog has IVDD. After experiencing paralysis after a surgery and rehab to gain his ability to walk (wobbly) he hasn't unfortunately gained the balance/coordination to poo without falling over. I had previously ordered a ruffwear harness and returned it because it was too stiff. I ordered this with the idea that maybe because it's longer and stiffer than other harnesses it will support him better helping him to stand up. It does just that. I have recommended this highly to other individuals looking for a new harness for their ivdd pups. Having 3 places to hook them comes in so handy. I also tried the canyoning one recently to see about hooking around his legs to help him more, but that was a stretch. It didn't come small enough but also that was much heavier. If I ... Ruffwear could really tap into a new market creating dual purpose gear for pets with mobility issues because they have great stability already covered. If I could get the flagline in an xxs with some leg straps... Chef's kiss. There are so many IVDD pet parents looking for solutions. $$$
Long story, we've had this harness for a LONG time, and I purchased it long ago in anticipation of my elkhound getting older. Never wore it because she was antsy in it. Fast forward, she'll be 13 soon and she's recently become skittish going up and down the stairs, so I finally dug it out and put it on her. It's done wonders for her confidence! It really helps in small ways, too. She's still very active and jumps on and off the bed, so if I'm in the room I'll grab the handle when she jumps so there's less weight on her joints when she lands on the ground - small things that lessen extra strain on her joints over time. (Also, it's hilarious because I think she thinks SHE is the one that is jumping extra high and long like she's a puppy again. I'm not sure she has ... I'm not sure she has connected that I'm the one holding the harness handle yet!!). She also adapted to wearing it very quickly and wears it all day and night very comfortably - I loosened the straps quite a bit so she can stretch out and take her senior naps, and it hasn't affected the functionality in any way. It's also very light and doesn't seem to affect her body temperature with her heavy undercoat. Extremely happy with this harness and how much extra confidence and comfort it helps me give her!
I think this harness is perfect! My Pomeranian has a front-right leg amputation, and it's a struggle to find harnesses that don't slip off. This one has plenty of adjustment points, which allowed me to get the perfect fit for his body and the handle is durable. He often needs help getting up or into the car, and the handle makes that so much easier.Unlike other brands, this harness doesn’t slide over his amputation site, and I can tell he’s a lot more comfortable during our walks. He moves so well in it, even running and playing, due to its lightweight materials.I also want to thank Ruffwear for their amazing customer service. It’s rare to find a brand that really considers the needs of amputee dogs. His previous harness had to be modified by me and still didn’t work as well as this one. I know the price might make you hesitate, but it's worth every penny if you have a tripawd! The materials are super durable, and I can tell this harness is going to last us a long time.
My dog is a little escape artist and has managed to wriggle his way out of every harness we've ever gotten him, but this one seems the securest of the bunch. Even though he's managed to get his whole front leg through the neck hole a couple times, he can't free himself any further than that, so in that sense, I'm quite pleased with the purchase. I do have one problem with it, though, which is that it isn't a perfect fit. That's not entirely the fault of the product, because to be fair, he is a very strangely-proportioned dog. His neck is tiny and his shoulders (for lack of a better term) are extremely broad! So the frontmost adjusted straps, tightened as tight as they'll go, are still just a bit too loose. But the other two straps, as loose as they will go, just barely fit around his ribs. Can't go up or down a size or we'll just be exacerbating one problem while solving the other. I get it, he's an outlier shape-wise, so this probably won't be a problem for most people's dogs. But it is a bit annoying to pay so much for a product that doesn't even fit quite right.
I purchased one of the old versions of the Flagline harness (red) and the newer version of the harness (blue/silver), only because those match my dogs colors for all their gear. Overall they both seem like durable, sturdy harnesses that are lightweight, comfortable and packable. Haven’t figured out what the potential difference is between the old and new style other than the color(s) and maybe a couple minor design aspects, so I consider that’s a plus.My dogs are both mutts with weird proportions and are notoriously difficult to fit harnesses for, but these ones overall fit well. Both dogs are cattle dog mixes and each weigh about 30 lbs with a 22 - 23” chest. I got them the small, and I’m glad I did because if we got the larger size the bottom panel would be too ... I got them the small, and I’m glad I did because if we got the larger size the bottom panel would be too long for my boy, and I know sizing down the panels would likely not support the dogs how I need them to for lifting when we hike rough areas. I don’t have the best pictures to share but I’ve attached a couple for the sake of this review. One star down only because I noticed while hiking that if my dog pulls for a while, the adjustment parts on the neck area seemed to loosen, which changes the fit. It’s fairly minor—I just have to tighten it up again and we’re good to go, and it only did it once so far, so I can’t say how that will affect the longevity of the harness or if that was just a one-time fluke. I thought it would be good to mention for the review, though. But it’s not a dealbreaker for me personally. :) I like them and will continue to use them.
So I walk dogs as a side hustle. I had an incident where a reactive husky I walk daily had figured out he could back up and use the leverage of the leash to back out of his harness. He did this one day when he was barked at by a large pit being walked across the street. I had to grab him by his hide and pull him to me and lay on him until the other dog got out of sight. Needless to say, he could have been gravely injured or worse had I not been able to wrestle him down.So after some research his owner and I settled on this harness for its 6 points. It takes a few more seconds to put on the dog after he learned to sit still for it. And what is great is how the center back attachment point constricts the dogs chest when he pulls, meaning he won’t pull nearly as hard before letting up since it’s not nearly as comfortable as putting his weight on his shoulders as almost all other harnesses do. This means he is MUCH easier to control. Finally I don’t think there is any way for him to escape his harness. The last set of buckles attaches behind their rib cage near their abdomen. If tightened correctly, which isn’t uncomfortable to the dog just attached to a size smaller than their rib cage, the dog has no way of backing out of the harness since they have to pull backwards and use the lead to pull it off. They cannot do this since this last set of buckles stops the harness moving past their abdomen. The materials seem high quality, but my only concern is how the attachment points are stitched to the harness itself. For instance the point with the metal ring, on the center back, there are two other fabric harness points on the chest and tail end of the harness, when the dog pulls on their harness, you can see this point bulge towards the lead. It seems like there is a lot of force on this stitching and I believe with time it could fail especially if the harness is exposed to a lot of UV such as if you leave it on all the time. So far there hasn’t been the hint of an issue, but I think it would be better to have some sort of material padding on this point under the fabric for which to stitch through and expand out the stitching to distribute the force of a pulling dog on this attachment point. That aside, this is a vastly superior harness to anything you can find in the store or especially on bulk websites. Let’s be honest, those are cheap products from a certain country who abuse platform mechanics and fake reviews to promote what is frankly junk. For twice the price of that junk, you can have this, a high quality harness that will hopefully last many years.Recommend this to anyone with a reactive dog, a pulling dog, or to one who has figured out how to back out of other harnesses.
