I used this vest on a 40lb blue heeler in the high desert and backwoods in May. This vest was bullet than expected when it arrived, but is cute and fit very well. Its design also didn’t chafe and covers the whole back. I do wish it went a bit high on the back of the neck. It stays damp for quite awhile and was very effective for keeping my dog cool in the sun. Temperatures reached about 85 degrees. In the backwoods, it was harder to use since it does dry out and requires stopping for water. Also, it is hard to get completely clean since the design can trap dirt. Overall, I’m super excited to continue using this throughout the summer and I know my dog is too!

I must admit, I didn't have a whole lot of confidence that this cooler would do what it says it will. BUT, I do have your regular harness, which I love, for driving, so I figured I'd give it a shot. COULDN'T BE HAPPIER WITH IT!!! It allows us to walk hotter than 75 degrees....not that I choose to do that often, but I know I can. We usually walk 2 1/2 miles a day, in the coolest part of the morning in Va. When it's 73 or 74, I wet the cooler and put it on. Absolutely NO discomfort on her part the entire walk. VERY happy with this product. I did have to size up because, while her girth is 26, she is a field spaniel with a very long back. The next size fits perfectly! Thanks for all you do for our furries.

This Swamp Cooler vest fit my furry little friend well, size XS. Didn't fully soak the vest since it didn't quite hit summer heat yet, but she wore it like a champ. If there's one thing to improve upon, the leash passthrough didn't seem very useful on a small size, but may work better with a bigger dog. The leash loop was a bit thick to attach directly. If there were something that could make it a bit narrower, it would have been more convenient to attach her leash. Stay safe in hot temps. Don't forget about our little companions.

We recently moved from PA to FL with our 70 lb golden/border collie mix who has a thick black coat. She is very active and loves to be outside but we couldn’t keep her out very long. We thought she was getting depressed. A friend told us about the swamp cooler vest and we bought one. Love it! We can take her on long walks and she can run and not get over heated. Her fur stays cool to the touch. Definitely would recommend this product! Thanks
It worked fantastic! My dog has black fur and a double layer coat. Which makes her pretty hot for summer days. So going on bike rides, hikes, or knowing she is going to be outside all day, the vest works great. She usually pants a lot during athletic activities, but because of the vest it kept her body temperature a lot lower. The vest kept the moisture in and reflected the sun off her back pretty well. Definitely a high quality jacket. Totally worth to buy.
Unlike my reds, blue dogs are not liking the hot weather. I believe it is working in the strong sun and dry climate we live in. But my issue is the sizing. My dog uses Small Front Range harness. And I put the Size Small Swamp Cooler over the harness as there is the leash portal. It is very tight. I have to struggle to take the harness clip out of the opening to clip the leash. If I need to do it fast, it would be very very difficult, which is a concern. Also, the size small does not cover his entire back. I understand each dog physique is unique, and your sizing is at the garth only. The important body points are covered so even if it is a tad short in the back, it is functional, I believe. So over all, Cooper and I are glad to get it.
Really really wanted these to work, I have 2 dogs: 17lb& 20lb Alaskan Klee Kai’s Sadly the Small was a giant loose cape and the XS was too short more like a harness in length from neck to tail, I wanted the cooling shade the longer length provides in this gear. Dogs come in so many shapes and sizes things like this are hard to make fit and add fluff, girth, tails : so I think its a 5 star item when u get the fit correct. I have the life preserves in XS from 2020 they are Awesome 5 stars I have the Front Range Harnesses > We love the reflection piping it works great , the hide a tag labeled pocket so no jingly sounds or caught on brush in the woods issues , back clip & front clip. 5 stars
We purchased this vest for our double coated GSDX as we were concerned about how she would manage in the very hot weather we’ve been having this summer; we live in the East of England where it’s been much hotter than usual.We have been soaking the vest and putting it on her first thing, before the heat increased, to ensure she started out the day cool. She’s stayed in the vest until the evenings, whether indoors or out in the shade.I had to re-soak the vest a couple of times throughout the day, checking under it from time to time to see when it had dried. My dog is 12 1/2 years old and has a double coat of thick black fur. He hates the hot summer weather, really slows down and pants excessively. I got him this cooling vest to help him be able to still enjoy being outside and take short walks even in the summer heat. It definitely seems to work! After getting it wet, I put it in the freezer for about 15 minutes, and then while on our walk, when I place my hand underneath the vest his fur is cool to the touch. He also really likes to lay outside in the backyard - I put it on him anytime he’s going to be outside. Very glad I discovered the Ruffwear Swamp Cooling vest for my fur baby.
The fit of this cooling vest is great. My dog wears it when practicing agility in the heat so she is extremely active. The vest stays in place and doesn’t shift around. High quality construction. Only negative about the vest is the amount of dirt and sand that gets trapped in the outside fabric layer - especially the chest piece when the dog lays down in the damp vest. After each wear it is a bit of a chore to hose out all of the dirt and sand outside. However, while the other dogs are panting, my pup seems to be much more comfortable.
