This is the 2nd time I have purchased from Russell Athletic, and I have had no issue with their products. Received in a timely manner and was satisfied with the quality of my purchase.This comment is not a shot a Russell Athletic for asking for a review, but I feel that many companies now request reviews after purchase when in reality no sooner have, I received the product I am asked for feedback, please allow us as a customer to have some time before requesting reviews for, I personally feel pressured to write. I understand the reasoning but what happens to all of the negative reviews hat are received? Again, this is not a shot a Russell for I was satisfied with their products, it's my personal opinion.

This is my go-to comfort sweatshirt. I am still wearing one I bought 45 years ago. I've always loved it. Big enough for easy on and off, soft sweatshirt lining, light weight enough to wear in a heated house when you just need to ward off the chill. No French Terry, which I hate, no special shaping for women, which never looks right and is uncomfortable. Mine is white and I wash with bleach and it comes out so nice and white no matter what I've spilled on it. I am so glad I was able to replace this sweatshirt exactly when I finally decided it was time for a new one. I bought two just to be sure I always had one.

I've always loved the Russell Athletic brand of sweatshirts. They're of very good quality. I have several from at least 10 or more years ago and they're still holding up very well. With my new purchase of 3 sweatshirts on 12/18/23, I can say that the quality is still there. I love how cozy the inside of the sweatshirt feels against my skin... just soooo soft. There is minimal, if any, shrinkage with these sweatshirts which is the other thing I love about them. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I just wish that there was more of a color selection in XL.

With all the gear out there you sometimes forget about great basics. I found an old Russell fleece sweatshirt in my closet so I put it on. As the day went on I was reminded just how perfect it is for certain times and just how much better Russell fits than the “other” brand.. I ordered 2 more. They’re great.Get back to basics. They look good, they fit well, and they make you feel good about all the money you saved.
I own a Russell sweatshirt of size large which fits fine. That's the reason I ordered size large. My measurements also match up with your size chart. On receipt, I tried on one of the shirts. It was too small. I laid my old one on a table and laid the new on top of it. The new one was 3-4 inches smaller at the shoulder seams tnan my old one. Narrower in the body as well. The product is fine. Just didn't fit.
Russell and I became friends over 15 years ago when I kived in the mountains and drove into Spokane (an hour drive), the store closed and other stores open in the same spot but didn't carry Russell. I found another store (Big 5) and it doesn't sell Russell anymore. You see I think they buy cheaper product and charge the same amount. I DON'T BUT JUNK CLOTHING OR ANYTHING ELSE! QUALITY IS WHAT I WANT. My Russell's sweatshirt and pants are still going strong 15 years later. I'm buying new ones this year black and a blue set. Great company, well made and if you can't find them order direct.
Personally, we love Russell sweatshirts. They are comfortable, soft, fit perfectly, and last us decades. I wish there were more color choices as you had in the 90's. I like the new sewing design, compared to past years. I find they are comfortable enough to wear as a shirt on cooler days and as an extra layer on cold days. We own about 10 Russell sweatshirts between the two of us.
Over the past few years, the quality and consistency of the sizing of your sweatshirts has gotten horrible. Even when buying two sweatshirts of the same type, size and color…they have been vastly different in overall size…usually one is much smaller than the other and neither sweatshirt handles more than six or seven washings before the inside of the sweatshirt starts pilling. This is the last time I will ever buy any products from Russell…which is really sad because I’ve been wearing your sweatshirts for many, many years.
Hello, I am just about to order a couple of sweatshirts and just thought I would let you know that I last purchased one of your sweatshirts in early 1999 from U of Portland bookstore. After all this time, averaging 1-2 wears/per week and at least one wash/per week, it is my go-to comfort wear. I have never owned a garment like this, ever! I do hope your quality has continued over the years!thank you,sharon
While I really do like this sweatshirt a lot I have found that each color is different and over the years they have really changed. This time, I bought the burgundy color and the fabric is completely different- much softer than all my other RA sweatshirts and while it's soft inside (much softer than all my other ones) it's just not quite as warm. It is warm but not like the others. The garment weight states it is the same but fabric has changed. Not bad by any means but it'd be nice to know that when you buy THIS sweatshirt in whatever color should be the same. I don't put my sweatshirts in the dryer as I wan them to be big and baggy so another shirt under it can be worn if wanted.
