Russell's Reserve Small Batch Single Barrel Bourbon is made in Kentucky using a generations-old mash recipe. After the grains are harvested, they are mashed and fermented before being distilled to a lower proof than at other distilleries in Kentucky (meaning that less water is used in diluting the bourbon after it is matured). Following distillation, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon is aged in American oak casks that have been charred with a #4 char. Typically, the degree of charring within a cask is measured on a scale of one to four, with a #1 char referring to casks that have been slightly toasted, and a #4 char referring to casks that have been charred so heavily that the interior resembles an alligator hide (the latter are nicknamed alligator-charred casks). The heavy char contributes notes of vanilla and crème brûlée to Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon, and compliments its notes of oak and baking spices. Following maturation, Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, along with his son Eddie Russell, hand-select the best barrels for bottling. As a result of being the product of a single cask, rather than a blend of casks, each bottle of Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon has its own unique characteristics, while still maintaining the rich and creamy style that is endowed by years of maturation in the Kentucky heat. Once the casks have been hand-selected, the bourbon is non-chill filtered, which preserves the fatty acids and esters in the bourbon while removing any remaining sediment (while the fatty acids and esters may cause a slight cloudiness in the bourbon, they contribute to its overall natural taste and provide for additional complexity). Each bottle is then filled from a single cask before being labeled by hand. Pick up a bottle of Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon today!

I love Wild Turkey products, and this beautiful dram is one of their masterpieces! For 110 proof, this is just the right amount of spice, caramel, cinnamon and vanilla. Then it ends with a sweet oak that is nothing short of delightful! This one is a no brainer, pick it up ASAP!You won’t be disappointed! Cheers 🥃

I always heard great things about the Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel, but it took me a while to get around to it - lesson learned. This will become a regular feature on my whiskey cart. Aromas of butterscotch and caramel, flavors of butter, butterscotch, vanilla, light caramel and a little bit of barrel spice perfectly rounds this sip out. It is beautifully balanced. Drinks easier than you’d think 110 proof would, but it is bursting with rich flavor. Creamy mouthfeel, medium to long finish. Go buy you one!

Buy this bourbon NOW!
1 March 2023

While it’s believed to be younger than the standard Russell’s at 8–10 years old, it’s superior in every way (except the big jump up in price, and it’s still a good value anyway!). It hits all the same flavor notes of vanilla, caramel, oak, and graham cracker, with some added leather, tobacco, and a hint of cocoa. All of the flavors are bold and rich, as can be expected from the heady 110 proof. I very much enjoy it neat, but you can throw in an ice cube to tame the heat without sacrificing flavor.

Excellent bourbon value
9 September 2022

I have tasted plenty of bourbons that cost twice as much as RRSB, but most of them don't taste better and some of them pale in comparison. This is infinitely shippable bourbon. Very smooth considering the high proof and it has a heavy mouth feel. Absolutely delicious.

Great Bourbon at an Excellent Price
7 February 2023

This is an excellent bourbon. I went to a friend's party bringing this RR Single Barrel (55%) and Redbrest 12yr cast strength (55.8%). We blind tasted them against Rossville Union barrel proof rye whiskey (58.3%). The RR Single Barrel was the smoothest, the richest, and the most complex of the three, with the least alcohol burn. We all fell in love with it instantly! This bourbon is full flavored with lots of brown sugar, caramel, toffee, and oak. The only reason it is not getting my 5-star rating is there are yet better bourbons at similar prices. Still, this Russell's Reserve Single Barrel is hard to beat at mid-$60ish. I would recommend it to all whiskey lovers!

My Favorite in the Wild Turkey Lineup
23 April 2020

I absolutely love this bourbon. If you’re looking for a wonderful premium bottle to add to your collection, I’d highly recommend. I get a wonderful oak, caramel, and brown sugar nose. I get those same notes on the palate. Love the finish as well. I will say, I think this bourbon requires a mature palate as it is intense. If you’re just starting into bourbons, I might not recommend this for you; I’d recommend more of a Bulleit bourbon. I typically put a bit of water when drinking neat to help open it up; also love it with a big ice cube when out in the Texas heat. Happy Drinking!

Sharpness lingers
15 May 2023

Initially a strong finish at the back of the throat. Tastes of caramel a little vanilla and a molasses finish. Sharpness initially on the tongue. Better on a single cube of ice than neat. Drinking for a half hour and sharpness last too long for me.

WT Russell's Reserve SiB

This is always a winner - I've yet to come across a bad batch/barrel/bottle. For the price, this is a great value, and it made a great gift for my whiskey-loving In-Laws. Bourbon Central does not have a massive mark-up like some other sites do for this, and even better that I can ship confidently to SC (where the pickings are slim, apparently).

What a whiskey
12 September 2021

Wow, make sure you start in first gear on this one. This whiskey packs a punch!!! 110 proof and it will remind you of your not ready for that heat. It will reward you for the effort. I get a great caramel in the initial mouthfeel with a comforting long spice on the finish. There is truly a lot to unpack, but a very pleasant experience throughout!!!
