in flooding.The float switch is simply not buoyant enough and the cord probably too stiff to turn the pump on in most cases.I had to cable tie some foam on to it to get it
buoyant enough to turn on. A real shame.... Show more

Good pump at a good price

Needed to empty a rainwater tank, so off to Bunnings to see what they had. Did not need anything fancy but I bought this model as I thought the price was decent.I did have to buy a hose kit, from another brand as this pump does not have one available.Anyway, fitting the hose kit to the pump and dropping it into the tank meant I was underway!Tank emptied within 2 hours so happy with that.Overall, pretty content with the end result.... For the price, this is great for the specs! It does the job! "However", because of the unit light weight and height, plus with all the cables/hose/rope/float switch per base area ratio, the pump tends to topple quite easily. Most commercial units compensated for this but you pay x10 price. Perhaps Ryobi should "flanged" the bottom a bit where the inlets are just to give some extra "footing" to stablise/compensate the over-head weight.... Show more

Not fit for our purpose

Bought to replace Ozito dirty water pump which had worked well for over 5 years in a sump pit for storm water, which is only needed for a few weeks a year in Townsville wet season. Thought this would be tougher and pumps faster - that it does and impressive that it can function at 7 m down.But….. the weight system does not work in a more shallow water . The weight seems to need to be floating double the height of the pump for it to switch in - in a vertical position.After two returns to Bunning. - we have opted got Katcher which has a different float system !... Powerful, reliable

Our company got one of these pumps over a year ago for the wash-off from grinding concrete. It's very dirty water often filled with larger particles and sometimes even bits of wire and stones. The pump has only just died after very heavy usage 6 days a week for over a year. Very well done and the longest lasting pump we've had so far (even topping a $1000+ pump).... Show more

This pump has been installed in a home septic treatment tank and pumps mildly dirty water. It has been working for approximately 10 weeks without failure or problems. It operates approximately 4-5 times a day pumping treated water. It has a 4 year warranty which I will exercise if it fails.... Show more

What a little ripper of a pump

Brought this pump to drain a large pool and spa that had not been filtered or used for 18 plus years. The pump was so easy to set up and effortlessly pumped out all the water and a majority of the sludge. Took about 14-15 hours to empty over 3 days. Really east to clean the pump and store till next time. A fabulous investment and a great result. Would highly recommend.... Show more

Works ok, but the float system isn’t great

Brought this pump recently to replace a previous pump in a storm water pit. While it pumps the water out pretty quick, the float and cable leading to the float aren’t suited for small spaces. Online instructions specify it should activate at around 30 degrees when elevated. I found this to be more 90 degrees. Also found if you set the length of the float to the minimum 10cm, the float has issues activating the pump due to the cable not having enough flex. I managed to get around the issue by attaching a small empty bottle to the float to provide more buoyancy. If the cable to the float had more flex like other brands, it would be perfect. These aren’t ideal for storm water pits.Tried contacting Ryobi about this, but no response.... Show more
