Chuck mechanism failure

I bought 2 drills. Within 6 months the chuck on both became stiff. One has now completely froze, can not loosen or tighten. Turns out chuck only has a 3 month warranty period, so out of luck getting it repaired or replaced

Decent budget DIY drill for around the house!

Great for the price, however depends on what you are using it for. I gave a 4 star review basically for those who want a quality drill for around the house. When it comes to in the workplace and putting it through it paces everyday you will probably want to save up more and pay the extra. However this is perfect for DIY around the house as it's reliable and has decent torque for most household needs.

I purchased this product about a year ago...was happy with the product, Good drill but... using it one day and heard a crack noise from it. Drill was still working so didn't think anything of it until i when to remove the drill bit. oh the chuck lock was broken. Thinking it was still under warranty (6 year warranty, Great Ryobi) I will just take it back to Bunnings a get it fixed or replaced. Was told by Bunnings "sorry but out of warranty". How can that be it come with a 6 year warranty?!?!? "sorry Chuck only has a 3 month warranty it is a consumables part, buy a new one cheaper than getting it fixed" So...do not be fooled by that red box in the corner saying 6 YEAR TOOL REPLACEMENT. Out of interest. I looked at another brand 18v drill to see what there warranty ... MoreI purchased this product about a year ago...was happy with the product, Good drill but... using it one day and heard a crack noise from it. Great for all those smaller jobs around the home.
23 August 2022

Paired with the RYOBI 13 piece bit set, and watching YouTube how to’s. This amateur is fast becoming an addict. From mounting a few fire extinguishers, to installing tracks for new drapery curtains, this is one sweet tool. The battery was only 1/3 down after 6 curtain tracks, 5 solar light panels, 2 fire extinguishers, wall anchoring 12 items of furniture (and reinforcing screws in some that wobbled too much for my liking), and a wall mounted vacuum dock.

Powerful large chuck drill
2 February 2023

A brilliant drill with 1/2 inch chuck for those larger jobs. Powerful machine and we’ll balanced. The supplied battery is ample for most diy projects and so far I have not needed to change batteries within a single use day. Using a 4.0ah battery doesn’t upset balance at all.

Whilst out of town I realized I had left my tools at home. A screwdriver was required and a quick visit to the local Bunnings store and a very affordable drill driver kit was purchased. So easy!!

Very good drill
6 September 2019

I bought this drill to replace a more exp0ensive brand drill that broke down after very little use. This is the 2nd Ryobi Drill hat I have. They are excellent value for money. The only weak point in the batteries. They do not last very long before needing to be replaced. Also the chuck needs to be able to accommodate very small 1 mm drill bits. This is the fourth Ryobi One product that I have and would put them up with the more expensive brands.

Years of good service
3 March 2023

I bought this as a kit some years ago, so the original kit was slightly different as it came with 2x 1.3Ah batteries and a charger. They don't make the 1.3Ah battery anymore.Interestingly, the minimum power 2.0Ah batteries today are slight smaller than the older 1.3Ah one which shows the technology is definately improving. My only complaint is sometimes it's hard to tighten the chuck enough to stop drill bit slippage. But for home DIY, it does the job well.
