I finally upgraded from using my wife's hair dryer for melting heat shrink and trying to beat red Loctite! I still haven't won the battle with red Loctite. Only burnt my finger once on the first day.

I purchased this gun approx 6 months ago for my resin projects. Worked great at first but no longer produces much heat at all. My hair dryer heats up more than this gun. Very disappointed.

Purchased a short time ago, used it once and it worked well, used on low setting. Used it today on high, didn't work for long, heat was lost completely!!! Blows room temp air around now and that's it!!!
I bought this just over a year ago to strip the paint on my house before repainting. The heating element failed under warranty and the item was replaced. Six weeks out of warranty it has gone cold again, 2/3rds of the way around the house. So clearly not up to this sort of job, but good while it was working.I might recommend it depending on intended use.
The Ryobi heat gun that I had bought several years old had done a fair bit of work and had stopped blowing hot during a recent project. As I had been pretty happy it with I bought the same one and started using it. After using it for literally less than one minute, there was a crackling sound and it immediately stopped blowing hot air. I could hand my hand an inch from the nozzle and I wasn't even close to getting burned. The Bunnings staff were very good about it when I returned and I replaced it with another brand.
Not an item that I have a lot of use for, reviews were worrying though it does have a 4 year warranty which is some what reassuring, reasonably priced, would view it as a middle of the road brand, have used it on two occasions for a very short period of time, no problems gives out a good heat.
Bought 3 of these now and all of them have broken within 3 months. Moral of the story, either don't buy this or keep your receipt unlike me.
Compact and light. This makes it easy to handle, but then the little stand can't be used as the rigidity of the cable interferes. Can take a while to warm up and stay at operating temperature - which is also somewhat of a guess. I had to use this in tandem with a heat gun to keep the glue from setting prematurely (on a larger job) and also a laser thermometer (to avoid scorching the work piece). Take it as slow as you can manage to.
Ive actually had mine for couple years. Wrapped a couple cars with it and an e bike. It doesnt blow heat any more. Pulled it apart and noticed the springs inside that wraps around the steel casing corroded and broke. And all the ceramic bits fell apart inside. Apart that it did work well. I recommend Ryobi supply a carry case with these as it would reduce risk of corrosion of internal parts from moisture.
