As I planed more, the depth difference was really noticeable, as I could look at the end of the board and really see that it was not planed level. I had a look at the blades in the barrel and noticed that they were not parallel to the front plate (ie they were out about 0.5 mm from the left to the right, as measured with digital calipers). It may not seem like a lot, but with a few passes, it will make the problem worse. I took it back to Bunnings, along with an example board and my calipers to show them. They got another new Ryobi planer off the shelf and we found that it too had the same problem with the blades not being parallel to the front plate (ie out by at least 0.5 mm). The tool shop guy said that it looks like a bad batch and he'd get back to the Ryobi rep about this. In the meantime, he grabbed another brand planer (more expensive) and had a look at the front plate. This time, the blades were bang-on parallel to the front plate. Therefore, I had to spend more to get a planer that didn't have the problem the Ryobi planer did (I was fully refunded though). Although it was a bit more expensive, it was a trade-level brand with a six year warranty, sturdy carry case and extra set of blades.Sorry Ryobi, but I really felt let down by your planer.

The dust port clogs up on anything but the smallest depth setting.Doesn't matter if it's set up to the left or right, whether you go fast or slow.Just clogs up and makes a mess of the job, making it useless for it's intended purpose. Will be taking it back.

My second Ryobi (being a Makita user). Bought it due to hard-to-resist value and dust bag offer. Read some negative review on bottom plates and inaccuracies. Didn't experience those issues. This planer helped me made a monitor stand using used crates today. It went really well. Precise and easy to use. So happy with this purchase. Two downsides:1. No carry case or bag that comes with the purchase, unlike a similar model sold in the US.2. Dust bag collects ~80-90%. Still much better than nothing though.

I would give this item zero stars if the option existed. It could not do the job I had planned for it which was to plane the edges of hardwood decking. At settings below the 1.5mm, the planer simply skidded off the surface leaving a barely observable mark. It only started to remove parts of the surface above the 1.5mm setting (at which it should have been removing 1.5mm of timber) and at the 3 mm setting it took around 10-20 passes to remove one or two mm of timber. I tried it with some softer pine where it removed some timber at the 1.5mm setting but nothing below that setting. The "shavings" were more like that from a coarse sander than a planer and the collection bag collected less than half of the mess.I attempted to remove some cupping from the face of some ... MoreI would give this item zero stars if the option existed. Brought this to plan some wardrobe doors that were not closing, This little machine did the job required well. Plus it came with a 4 year warranty. Thought about the Ozito went with Robyi on brand and warranty plus I have other Robyi products and they have not disappointed.
This planer is a great planer with very good dust extraction if using a vacume and fairly good with the dust bag. It is very powerful and hasn’t even strived once while using it
Haven't used my plane yet. Due to poor health and a little stay in hospital. But if my experience with the ryobi range is anything to go by. It will be a little ripper. I will update when I finally get to use it
I am just a newbie DIY guy so was looking for something easy to use and cheap. This Ryobi planner does the job I need . Only issue I found was dust chute is not that good in collecting or throwing dust (right side is bit better but saw dust still spills out from the left chute even though you guide it to use right chute.) Planner rabbet guide is not that helpful either , but may be I am not much experienced to use it yet..But over all I am happy for the price and quality so far (mind it, I only used it few times since I bought it).Start your DIY innings at Bunnings. Next catchy phrase for West Farmer. Ha Ha
Bought one today and immediately once opening returned it as the front adjustment plate was quite clearly not aligned with the rear nor the blade! Bunnings allowed me to open another box to check the plate alignment before returning home with my new tool. I checked the tool over again once home and properly unboxing realised the blade had a few small chips along with the base plate and blade barrel. This tool will not be taken back as it still meets my needs but a little disappointed in quality control on what leaves the factory! This tool is full of grate features and seems well built.... time will tell. Throughly check/ unbox before buying!
