With fully charged battery, about half-way through driving a screw into wood, the RYOBI USB Lithium Screwdriver stopped DEAD. After several seconds waiting for it to reset, it became operational again. A second attempt to finish driving the screw resulted in a second DEAD stop. At this point it was impossible to finish driving the screw without further DEADSTOPS. This type of function does NOT meet with my expectations. I had ordered a second RYOBI USB Lithium Screwdriver as a backup tool but I am cancelling the order as its poor performance is intolerable.

It's a little bigger and more bulky than my other cordless screwdriver, but I'm getting the hang of it. It's nice that it has a light, but I wish I could turn the light off instead of it coming on automatically when I depress the trigger. I don't always need the light and it kills the battery quicker. It's also a bit of a bummer to have to remove the battery to put the USB wire into it. My other screwdriver I just plugged it into the handle. Another con is that it didn't even come with a charging block, I had to go buy one separately. It does seem to have adequate power and stays charged for several hours now. I use it to take apart Clipper Blades before I sharpen them and I've done 132 clipper blades since I bought this, which equates to about 13 hours and it still ... MoreIt's a little bigger and more bulky than my other cordless screwdriver, but I'm getting the hang of it. It would have been nice to also have a lighted gauge to show when the battery is dying. With Lithium batteries it will run until it's completely dead, which is nice, but I won't know when that is till it's down.

We bought this for our house to assemble furniture and complete small projects. The screwdriver itself is not bad. It does a good job with tightening screws. The problem comes from the incredibly short life of the battery! Multiple times we have completely charged the battery only to have it start flashing red and dying before we finish assembling a piece of furniture. I’m going to try storing the battery out of the tool to see if that helps the battery keep a charge longer. Very disappointing.

This was my first Ryobi USB tool. I thought this screwdriver would be good. Unfortunately I didn't care for the power of the battery. The screwdriver had very little power and after a couple uses it defaulted to a trouble code and the LED lights did not come on and the torque dwindled to useless.I wanted to like this as I have many Ryobi 18v tools and I'm quite pleased with them. This tool was returned for a refund. I have no desire to try an exchange. No problem with the return and refund. That was smooth.I do NOT recommend this screwdriver.
It gets the easy jobs done. Bought to put together furniture for an apartment. It will stop when screw is tight enough probably due to the small battery's limited power. The light helps to see obviously and item is easy to use and twist when pressing the button to convert to a straight drill from a gun posture. I bought it for the easy jobs around the apartment like screwing things in the wall to hang etc. It's convenient and light but I highly suggest you get a second battery. I'm guessing about 30 mins of use. I had to use 2 batteries to put a bar table and 4 chairs together. Still convenient although you can obviously use a regular drill with a larger battery but I liked the size and lightness to just keep in a kitchen drawer instead of running into the garage and ... MoreIt gets the easy jobs done. Still convenient although you can obviously use a regular drill with a larger battery but I liked the size and lightness to just keep in a kitchen drawer instead of running into the garage and looking for the drill and bits. it comes with two bits flat and Phillips and one battery. One bit stores on the drill, the other in the drill end.
I bought this tool looking to replace a plug in rechargeable electric screw driver. It's a decent screw driver with a good grip. The handle turns to allow for a better grip or a slimmer profile. It has a nice set of lights for the work area. Other than that it's pretty basic. Two dislikes: The bit holder on the bottom is hard to get bits in and out of and the direction switch is awkward to use. It's tucked away so at least you won't accidentally change directions. Really love the new battery eco system though.
It appears well-made and heavy duty but after real time use there are better choices. It bogs down and stops if used with moderate screwing into wood with 1 inch longer bits. With self threaded metal furniture pieces using screws 1 1/2 longer screws it slows down. No torque or speed control and no electric brake. The battery does last a long time and the handle is adequate. Bought the kit with different heads which gives it more usefulness. Not recommend at this price point.
I purchased this tool when after I dropped my trusty B&D screwdriver from the ladder one too many times. While this Ryobi has a reverse feature, I find that it will not remove wood screws from wood. It unscrews for maybe a half second, then stops. This goes on and on. Start, stop, start, stop, start stop. That is so lame! I know this is an entry/bottom level product, but to not even perform its basic function? I'm gonna go look for another B&D from a different big box tool store.
I've grown used to my old Ryobi screwdriver. Bought this one on Black Friday thinking it would be a good replacement. NOT AT ALL! It is unfortunate how Ryobi is jumping backwards in technology. This is merely a very entry level electric screwdriver. My old one has torque ratchet, locking mechanism for the bit, big power AND The FWD and REV button is very intuitive. On the opposite, this one has none of that. Couldn't be any more basic and has no strength whatsoever!. Can't take any load.
I have used many cordless screwdrivers and even have the older pistol grip version. I went to use my new usb to put together some screw furniture that had holes pre drilled. with a new battery I can only get the screw 3/4 of the way in. went and got the older ryobi pistol grab and it screwed it in the rest of the way. it's just pointless to have a screwdriver that just reads low battery when ever there is just a little torque. the ratchets are the same way. invested a lot of money in chargers and tools for this usb and to be honest they just sit in the drawer and won't get used. would return it all if I could.
