I feel like every long ride I take with local groups, I see others with this saddle (or another Brooks variation). I’m now two weeks into riding it and I have to say even though it is firm, it is comfortable. When I hit bumps, I don’t feel the post in the center like my old saddle because of the leather and the way it is stretched. When I took a break mid ride in 90 degree sunny weather, it wasn’t burning hot when I got back on to ride. Im only 100 miles in but excited to have this saddle for a long time. Totally worth it to me.

Looks aside, and there are plenty positives on the aesthetics of this saddle, this Brooks seat lives u to the billing of being incredibly comfortable. No saddle soreness whatsoever has one experienced. And one is reportedly still in the break in period. The only adverse comment here is that one has to be prepared to cover up the saddle should precipitation commence - in order to protect the leather.

A beautiful work of art. You need to hold this saddle in your hand to really appreciate its beauty and intricate craftsmanship. I can't wait to install it on my new Brompton. I have not bothered to install the original Brompton saddle that came with the bike.Delivery took about two (2) weeks which I consider quite long a delivery time for a UK-made product.

Also, if you would be riding this saddle in the rain be sure to purchase the Brooks rain cover for the seat; leather doesn't like water.

Its heavy, but here's why it works so well and is worth an extra 200 or so grams:1) Brooks has made saddles for 100 years or more, and they know the shape of peoples butts2) The leather changes shape in minor ways to fit better over time, you can adjust tension to help fit3) You naturally move a bit for/aft in the saddle during a ride. Some riders do this more frequent or make larger adjustments than others. With their smooth leather and most shorts, sliding is between saddle and shorts rather than between shorts and skin (ouch!). So less saddle sore issues (Ah).4) They make their different saddles based on how upright (vs tucked) you plan to sit on the bike; buy accordingly. Many saddle makers assume a certain position and don't really tell ... MoreIts a great saddle. If you really need to save 150-200 grams from non-moving parts, consider forgoing the next few dietary splurges and loose half a pound off your stomach or butt. Its probably the wiser place to drop weight. Or go for a couple more rides to get in that bit better shape to compensate for a bit heavier bike.
I should have realized it long ago. As a lifelong motorcyclist, I knew that firm seats were more comfortable than squishy soft ones for long rides, but on my bicycle I kept getting the soft ones to cushion the contact points. Finally, I went for the Brooks, which on “first sit” feels like a board, but after 15 minutes, was so much more comfortable than any of the soft seats I had been using. (The only complaint I can offer is that I would have preferred the classic looking honey brown color, but REI only offers black. But since I’m now always sitting on it, no one can see it anyway.)
Never ridden on a Brooks narrow before and it's just as good as the wider version. If you prefer a narrow / racing saddle, this is probably the comfiest you're going to find. I ride 10-15 miles / day so it broke in pretty quick even without using the included proofer. Movatik had a good deal and shipped it quick. Highly recommend them and the Brooks B17 narrow.Cheers, Devin
I used the stock saddle on my road bike for quite some time and it didn't start to bother me until I started doing more frequent rides over 40 miles. I figured I needed something wider because the painful points weren't actually on the saddle, they were where my rear end was hanging over the edge of the saddle.Opted to go for a Brooks as the first option since I've heard good things. A few things to note:- The saddle is a bit slippery at first so it will feel like you need to angle it up to keep yourself from sliding off the front, this does improve a bit over time. I'd return it except I see you don't have the Honey available. Ive looked for it on other sites and they are much more expensive than your price. I installed it on my bike.. i am really loving the brown. Most comfortable saddle ever. Brooks lives up to their reputation.I am very impressed at speed of delivery. Im in on an island in canadian north atlantic. It didn't even take a week for me to receive my saddle. It takes longer to have anything shipped from any other part of canada lol.Between your prices, shipping, and customer service..
