I bought this six weeks ago as my old fully automatic coffee machine (another brand)had broken down. I live on my own and drink only cappuccino, so I don’t need a machine with lots of coffee options or a dual boiler. The milk frothing is great - I use maximum froth and I get a really dense, smooth and silky froth. I’ve experimented with making espresso using freshly ground beans and eventually discovered that I got a much more delicious tasting coffee using the single wall basket. I just bought the Sage Smart grinder pro and playing around with the grind coarseness and changing to the single wall basket has enabled me to make the nicest cup of coffee I’ve had in a long time. The shot volume is preset but you can change it - buried in the instructions so took me a ... MoreI bought this six weeks ago as my old fully automatic coffee machine (another brand)had broken down. The water tank is robust, easy to seat and remove and the lid has a loop handle which is very handy. The water filter is also easy to fit. The steam nozzle has four holes which I understand improves the froth. It unscrews and there’s a little tool to unblock the steam holes which is stored beneath the water tank. I haven’t had to use the cleaning or descaling programmes yet. Aesthetically the machine looks great, really neat and stylish - I chose the stainless steel option. I’m delighted with my choice. I don’t know how long this machine will last, but considering how much the high end espresso machines cost I think that so far, it’s great value for money.

Bought this as an upgrade from my previous espresso machine, as the steam arm on that was not up to scratch for a former barista. This one definitely does the job, nearly as good as an industrial barista style machine but at home! Came with an abundance of accessories, including jug, tamper, dose "razor", several cleaning products for different purposes and multiple sizes of basket for the portafilter. The drip tray does need emptying quite frequently (probably because of the self purge feature on the steam arm) but that gives you more incentive to clean the whole machine. The manual that came with it was a bit lacklustre, but then I realised it was just a quick setup manual- the full one can be downloaded via QR code and was much more detailed and had extra ... MoreBought this as an upgrade from my previous espresso machine, as the steam arm on that was not up to scratch for a former barista. Not as expensive as some, but at the lower end for something that really does the job properly. Would definitely recommend this machine.Only downside i would say is that the instructions insist that you use sage branded cleaning products for it- as well as filters and descaler. I'm yet to internally clean/descale my machine but I'm almost certain that a more budget friendly option can be found for keeping your machine in good shape.

That much coffee I made and drink yet but I feel that I am near to perfect recipe...Up to know, although I could not arrange correct grind size for unpresurized baskets, I made good quality extraction with the help of pressured baskets. It tastes very good which also depends on other things especially the type of coffee, grind size again etc. It is a machine that as quick as possible; brew coffee in seconds, and it is really convenient to heat milk with rich microfoams. Just do not forget to wipe down the steam wand after each milk froathing. Do not forget to purchase a good grinder which is more important for coffee making process. Maybe the only downside can be that the portafilter coming with the machine is not the type I look for. Otherwise, it is a succesful ... MoreThat much coffee I made and drink yet but I feel that I am near to perfect recipe...Up to know, although I could not arrange correct grind size for unpresurized baskets, I made good quality extraction with the help of pressured baskets. This is simply the best low priced machine out there. It never fails to make great coffee and, for me at least, the auto-milk function is brilliant. I don’t feel the urge to play coffee art but if you do, you can with this machine. If I had one slight criticism (and it is slight) it is that even after warming the system by running two double shots of water through, the espresso is never quite hot enough. As I rarely drink espresso but prefer americano or flat white (auto-milk foam on lowest level) it’s not a huge problem for me. As everything in life what you put in is what you get out and fortunately Sage has a sister called Beanz where you can buy excellent artisan roasted coffee (and over two years get a sizeable discount off your machine!). I decided on this make and model due to the reputation of Sage coffee machines in general, and the positive reviews. It appears well built, and looks good on the kitchen worktop. It is still early days on my barista voyage, so I am still experimenting with coffee strengths and milk temperatures, so it is useful being able to adjust various aspects of the process. It is still a bit of a novelty to make coffee this way, which I am enjoying! The only thing that at times has seemed a little inconsistent is the milk temperature. In fact I decided to perform a "factory reset" at one stage, as the milk temperature was far hotter than it should have been. This seems to have solved the problem. As a precaution I also purchased a milk thermometer to keep a watch on the ... MoreI decided on this make and model due to the reputation of Sage coffee machines in general, and the positive reviews. It appears well built, and looks good on the kitchen worktop. In fact I decided to perform a "factory reset" at one stage, as the milk temperature was far hotter than it should have been. This seems to have solved the problem. As a precaution I also purchased a milk thermometer to keep a watch on the temperatures being automatically produced by the machine. For those considering purchasing the Sage Bambino, the unit registers the temperature through a sensor on which you stand the stainless steel milk jug, and the instructions emphasise the importance of ensuring the base of the jug fully covers the sensor to measure the temperature, though I'm still not sure how accurate this method is.Overall though, I am very pleased with my purchase.
I only really drink Espresso coffee, and I'm quite picky that it's properly made and not just a strong coffee with fake crema like some pods that I can mention produce. I'm using a J-Ultra hand grinder set to 147 and 10g of beans, a WDT and calibrated tamper. This makes me a 20g single espresso with a 20 second pour.I chose the Bambino plus over the Bambino mainly to have the option of frothing if we're entertaining. So my complaints: the supplied tamper is poor, the drip-tray is very small. The porta-filter output ports are too far apart for a single espresso cup, the drip-trap metal cover is quite sharp so it's easy to cut yourself when washing it. The auto dispense is not very accurate: my grind and tamp are very consistent; but I cannot seem to programme it so ... MoreI only really drink Espresso coffee, and I'm quite picky that it's properly made and not just a strong coffee with fake crema like some pods that I can mention produce. The auto dispense is not very accurate: my grind and tamp are very consistent; but I cannot seem to programme it so it's reliable. I have programmed the pour time overly long and I stop it manually. An ESE option would have been nice, but it needs to be a 9 bar system for reall espresso - the supplied pressurized basket isn't actually too bad for ESE; but it's often a bit weak in comparison to 18 bar ESE systems: not a big issue for me, apart from I have a stock of ESE pods that need running down.Good points: and there are many. The heat up time is incredible. The shut off pressure release feature after the pour is great (I think only on the plus - but I could be wrong). The small size is also great for a crowded kitchen, and it is a good looking machine. Finally, it makes really good espresso if you get the grind and tamp consistent. I'll probably end up getting a replacement porta-filter and basket - at which point I'll have my perfect setup. P.S., I also picked up a Sage-10 knock box which matches nicely and works well.
This is a great machine if you are getting into making espressos and you don't want to spend too much money. If you want to get into the machine to change parts, this isn't for you. If you want a "plug and play" machine capable of steaming great milk, this is perfect!I've so far tried with dark and medium coffee roasts from some local roasters, I've managed to pull some good espresso's. For reference I have been using a DF64 grinder. I have had to dial back a bit on the finest grind but found a good setting for a few different coffee beans.I cannot yet recommend light roasts, but I have read online that this machine is best for medium/dark. I am assuming as it struggles with the finest ground coffee, which you need for a light roast. If you will never care ... MoreThis is a great machine if you are getting into making espressos and you don't want to spend too much money. I have had two other more expensive machines one I passed to a relative , the other I could not use the steam handle. The bambino plus has a small footprint on the work surface but it is a powerful machine . I love the shape of the portafilter at the bottom. You can stand it flat on surface when tamping. The auto steam is so good delivering silky milk using cows or oat. I like that you can adjust the foam and temp levels . It’s nice to just press the button while you attend to other things. The self purge mechanism is another really good feature. The only drawback is the relatively small drip tray but it’s a good trade off with the space the machine takes up. I am finding the coffee is very hot even on the lowest temp setting. Makes great tasting coffee. Bought the 'Bambino Plus' after much time and research. Wanted a machine with minimal fuss, small footprint and with a focus for great milky quality coffees too.Five months since purchase and used multiple times daily. This machine fits the bill beautifully. Looks super smart in my kitchen and takes very little space. It is easy to use and cleaning up at the end of the day is a minimal task.Coffee tastes amazing and the milk steamer/frother is incredible. Super smooth cappuccino and latté.The instant hot water function is very handy too.It does ask to be cleaned rather often, but then we do make a lot of coffees each day in my house so it's completely understandable. The only problem is that I no longer enjoy the simple everyday coffees I used to make at work ... MoreBought the 'Bambino Plus' after much time and research. Anyone with even a basic interest in how to make excellent coffee at home should buy this machine. It totally opened my eyes to how much bad coffee is being served at coffee shops around the country. The Bambino Plus makes the process so easy and coffee making quickly becomes obsessive as you realise how much better and cheaper it can be when you make it yourself. The customisation options are excellent for such a small, compact machine. Every part of the brewing process, from the pre-infusion to the temperature of the steamed milk can be tweaked and once you have things just right it'll remember them for every drink you make with your chosen coffee. It's fun experimenting with different roasts and different grind settings (do buy yourself a good grinder too) to ... MoreAnyone with even a basic interest in how to make excellent coffee at home should buy this machine. If I'm feeling a bit more barista and ready for some latte art making, I enjoy doing it manually, and again this machine can produce perfect silky milk. There's little to find fault in this machine - it's a proper workhorse. I'm actually on my second. My first black one was used multiple times daily for nearly 3 years and was still functioning perfectly when I gave it to a friend as we were remodelling our kitchen and wanted a silver one instead. I thought about getting a different model but the Bambino Plus just does everything we need in a coffee machine and does it exceptionally well, so why change?Highly recommended.
