I was considering buying the much larger and more expensive Barista Pro, but ended up deciding on the Bambino as I already have a good Krups grinder and the Bambino does everything else I need it to. The best things about the Bambino are the fast ready time, the guaranteed constant pressure and temperature for the best extraction and the adjustable shot time. The milk wand works fine but I suppose it could be a little more powerful. It also takes a while to stop once you've cancelled the steam function. Another plus is the fact that the drip tray hardly ever needs emptying (no solonoid valve in this machine). I much preferd the look of the Barista Pro and it would've looked great in my kitchen, but the little Bambino does a super job of making great coffee that I ...Ā MoreI was considering buying the much larger and more expensive Barista Pro, but ended up deciding on the Bambino as I already have a good Krups grinder and the Bambino does everything else I need it to. After trying my Mum's home espresso machine I decided it was time to take my morning coffee to the next level. I did a bit of research and the Bambino seems to get consistently good reviews plus is a nice compact size which fits well in our kitchen.I've had the machine for a couple of months now and have really enjoyed having delicious premium coffee at my fingertips every day. The machine is easy to use and has some great options to tweak the brew to your personal preferences. One particularly good feature of the Bambino is that it comes with a choice of single or dual wall baskets meaning you can have more control over the brew and use a variety of grind sizes to really optimise your shot.I quickly realised I needed a decent grinder too to do it justice so ...Ā MoreAfter trying my Mum's home espresso machine I decided it was time to take my morning coffee to the next level. Took a chance on an Amazon prime deal having looked at the Bambino for a while. Its small footprint, classy design and well thought out feature set means it really ticks all the right boxes for a machine of its price range. The PID temperature control is a fantastic asset, especially for those looking to start in home espresso. The quality of the portafilter baskets have been compared to competition style, bespoke āprecisionā products and hold their own very well. I think the cuts that have been made to the design to keep the price low are justifiable (plastic construction, aluminium portafilter, non adjustable brew temperature erc). I think the only negative is the plastic tamper. Which is not really the right size and is a bit flimsy in the hands to use. It has taken me a long time to decide which espresso machine to buy. I did actually purchase the Gaggia classic. It's a great machine but the auto time off and time to warm up was frustrating, so I returned this after a few weeks. So I then kept searching for months to find a machine that didn't have auto shut off or at least was decent. Then I came across the Sage Bambino - heats up in a few secs and has PID technology so the temperature is perfect. Makes a great espresso and it's so easy to use. The milk frother heats up also straight away and the nossel moves arounds easily which is great. A great machine and a perfect coffee.
Based on the glowing reviews I gave it a try, but frankly wish I hadn't. It's way too expensive for what it is, really the price should be half what they ask for a machine of this type. It's just a fairly basic machine that does not really inspire with quality when you get it. But worse than that, it's just plain not very good. Maybe mine is faulty, for example it won't always switch off, usually I have to knock it off at the mains. The espresso is a bit watery and rather bitter, using the same coffee as my now expired previous machine. It does not dispense much coffee even on the two cup setting, so two goes are required, but on the second go it does not shut off. The steamer is not great and spurts a long jet of water before steaming, so don't leave your milk jug ...Ā MoreBased on the glowing reviews I gave it a try, but frankly wish I hadn't. The steamer is not great and spurts a long jet of water before steaming, so don't leave your milk jug under the steamer when first using - or you'll get watery milk, nor does it froth especially well, it heats fast enough for sure, but all you will really get is hot milk for a latte or flat white. Will probably return it as I don't know if it's faulty or just a plain bad machine.
Iāve never had a barista type machine before, and I can honestly say that Iām very excited about making coffee every morning. To begin with, all of the contents and instructions book were really easy to follow and it's even got an app that makes it more simple to set it up.The bambino machine is compact, stylish and solid. Overall the machine and all the contents have excellent quality. It has a beautiful and simple design which I think it's the perfect addition to any kitchen. I love how simple and aesthetic the control panel is on this machine. It has a great water capacity tank which is easy to fill up and lasts me a few days. I also think it's great that the water filter will keep the machine free of limescale for three months before it needs to be replaced. ...Ā MoreIāve never had a barista type machine before, and I can honestly say that Iām very excited about making coffee every morning. I also think it's great that the water filter will keep the machine free of limescale for three months before it needs to be replaced. It has a good size drip tray with a red float that indicates when the tray is full. It's simple to remove and clean the tray. There are two coffee dispense buttons, one for a single cup and the other for two cups or a stronger coffee, which I prefer because it gives me the right amount for a latte. The two buttons also allow me to change the pre-programmed coffee volumes, allowing me to make my ideal cup of coffee, which I think is fantastic. There are two control buttons on the steam wand: one for steaming milk and the other for dispensing hot water. It only took me a couple of tries to make the perfect microfoam milk with a smooth texture and it tastes amazing. The milk heats up quickly, and I clean the steam wand with a damp cloth after each use to prevent it from drying out. The portafilter has a firm grip and is easy to handle. This incredible machine, impressively, only takes 3 seconds to heat up, and itās ready to make a coffee right away. It really makes my life so much easier now in the morning.Overall, this Sage Bambino is an outstanding coffee machine and I'm excited to put my barista skills to the test.

This is a great little espresso machine. The first one didn't heat up properly, so they replaced it (I didn't want a refund). This one is great. I only have 2 minor quibbles. 1: the unit is light weight, so it moves around when you lock the portafilter and the second is that the coffee itself is not particularly hot, so the coffee is not hot by the time you have frothed the milk (This maybe more to do with my technique than the machine). I have only had the unit a week, so I may get better as this. Regardless of these quibbles, it makes great tasting coffee and I drink far too much of it. I also bought the sage coffee grinder and that is flawless. I am very glad I bought these products.
I had, of course, read other reviews prior to my purchaseāas usual, direct experience may or may not reflect that of others. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this machineāit replaced a 15+yo Gaggia that was still brewing a decent espresso, until one day the water pump died.On to the Bambino. It may be worth mentioning that I have quickly settled for the dual-wall filter, as it produced better results for my coffee.PROS- Coffee quality: while it took me some time to find the right beans to suit my taste (the ones I used with my previous machine tasted different), now that I have I can say that my espresso is consistently good and creamy, and there's no residual powder in the cup after drinking it. Even more: I take a long time to drink my espresso (30-60 minutes is normal for me), and at the very end the "cream" is still there, and makes for a great last sip!- User friendliness: I like the affordances for common operations, like the ring-shaped handle to move around the steam wand or the one used to lift the water tank. They're well thought out.- Steam wand: easy to move around, easy to orient, easy to clean, and oat milk stays foamy long enough.- Power: ready to operate in a few seconds, and turns off by itself if not used for around 10 minutes.CONS- As many reviews mention, the grill on top of the tray drip vibrates a lot, and lighter cups may move around enough that the coffee misses them.- The same grill, while easy to clean, seems prone to scratches.- Brewing two espressos at the same time produces uneven results, even when the quantity of coffee powder is the same (double the amount I use for a single shot): in my case, both espressos are shorter than when I make a single shot, and the one in the right cup is even less.- Some of the filters are quite hard to get out of the portafilter for cleaningāthe single shot dual-wall, in particular; sometime I need to use a spoon as a lever to pull it out.Lastly, there's a feature I haven't tried out yet which could be useful: the ability to specify the quantity of brewed coffee for both single and double shotsāmaybe it'd help with my two-espressos issue.Overall, as I said, I would definitely recommend this machine. It's also quite compact, which is a good thing if your worktop is as cluttered as mine!
