Super stiff well supported boot. The traction on scree, mud and grass is amazing. Haven't had the chance to try it on any scrambles yet. Love the adjustability of the lacing system as well. I do recommend breaking them in before taking on any crazy excursions into the wild. But overall amazing boot.

The Crow is a solid boot for the money. It is a narrower boot, I’m about a C width and these fit my foot like a glove. The 100% blister free break in guarantee is the real deal, these felt awesome right out of the box, no blisters or hot spots. They don’t have a lot of cushioning compared to other boots and the soles, while incredibly grippy, are showing a surprising amount of wear for only having about 15 miles on them. Salewa does not re-sole boots in the USA either, kind of a bummer. If you wear inserts, the heel cup on this boot is fairly narrow and there’s a good chance your inserts won’t fit nicely in the heel cup. Mine didn’t, but still feel OK despite not being all the way in the heel pocket. This boot would be a 5 star for me with a little more cushioning ... MoreThe Crow is a solid boot for the money. I used to have some heavy leather Lowa Camino GTX boots. My good friend has a pair of Salewa's and ranted and raved about them. For this price I couldnt say no and I am so pleased with them. I took them to Arizona for an archery deer hunt and they did really well. My feet did get a little cold but these arent insulated so that is not a fault of the boots. The volume of the boots fill up quick so thick socks didnt work for me. I use an Injinji toe sock as well as a thinner Darn Tough hiker sock and that combo is perfection!

These boots are ready to go anywhere. I have used these in many high alpine situations. They are sturdy enough to handle heavy loads of the pack. Strong enough to kick steps into steep ice glacier fields. Summited many mountains. The real test was Chimborazo and they did the deed. If you tend to have weak feet. These might hurt until they are properly broken in, but in all, they keep your feet warm with the proper sock. Highly recommend.
I have been depending on Salewa for many years hiking and working. Great long asting quality. Haven’t found anything that didn’t work yet. Boots are a little bit long too break in, but once they are, very comfortable with the right socks. These boots are very technical and are better used in high country. Wear continuous once received to get broken in well. Highly recommend this boot to anyone looking for a quality product.
Bought these as a last resort. I have tried all types of boots for winter hiking here in Alaska, and wish I would have tried these sooner. The fit is great, and this is huge for me. I am prone to getting blisters on my heels due to the shape of my calcaneus. Fortunately, these have not put any type of pressure of hot spotting on my heels, or toes. The goretex has worked so far in the snow. These do come with insoles, and a couple inserts to customize the fit, honestly they are kind of garbage and as thin as paper. Going to find some other insoles to toss in here, because the stock ones really contribute to some serious foot fatigue. All in all, happy with these. Wish they had an all black option with the red accent, but not that big of a deal. Excited to see how ... MoreBought these as a last resort. Salewa Crow GTX flys with high marks. Fitment is excellent, interchangeable footbeds is a great idea materialized. Boots are light yet robust to handle tough Terra Firma. Perfect blend of firmness & comfort. No break in needed. Well designed, great blending of textiles & other materials fused together in a synchrony of hiking nirvana. Well buy these again.
I have been wearing the Salewa Alp Trainer GTX for years and have looked forward to my next pair of Salewa's boots because I have been so impressed. I chose to go with the Crow GTX for a stiffer more aggressive boot for my most recent purchase. After putting these boots on and getting out in the mountains I couldn't be happier with my decision. If you are looking for a boot that feels like a pillow on your feet these aren't for you. If you are looking for something that has incredible support and a bulletproof construction these boots are exactly what you're looking for. I hunt Arizona most often and these boots will handle hot desert days, as well as those cold days in the snowy mountains.
I bought these for an elk hunting trip I am going on in some steep rugged country. I was looking for a stiff boot that the sidewalls will not buckle in the steep country of Idaho or when packing heavy weight. These boots are awesome. Comfortable out of the box, but definitely stiff. I have been wearing them over the last 2 weeks to break them in and they just keep getting better. They got good reviews and the info from the guys at Go Hunt was so helpful. Super happy with my purchase and a great pair of boots.
I have real bad ankles and feet from skateboarding, mt bike racing, motocross racing and other fun sports growing up and the support these boots offer is unparalleled as I compare to other hiking, trekking and light mountaineering boots I have bought in the past. The rigid sole transfers that foot/ankle energy to my calf, knee and thigh which keep the pain at the lower end of the scale. I just got back from Everest Base Camp and they performed exceedingly well. They tend to fit a tad bit small like Asolo boots but are super rugged. Pre EBC training was about 400 miles and they have an additional 200-300 more miles since returning and by the images, you can see that they are in pretty good shape from a wear perspective. Pre EBC training was about 400 miles and they have an additional 200-300 more miles since returning and by the images, you can see that they are in pretty good shape from a wear perspective. I tie by boots so tight that I blow through laces every 150 miles but these still look new. I attempted to buy back up "factory" laces for these boots and was told by all sources that they are not available. Only bummer. I have not had the moisture intrusion problem I have read but have not trudged through deep rivers and ponds. The hundreds of streams and puddles never yielded any leakage. I did bail the factory insole for a custom orthotic. The only area where these may not perform so well would be on flat long treks. I have done the Camino de Santiago twice and would not bring these. The super rigid sole causes you to "clop, clop, clop" when you walk which may make other areas of you body hurt over time. Even though there is still more than 60% tread left and a 90% outer skin, I am going to purchase another pair before they change the model and put them in the queue.
