Overall, a great hiking/trail running shoe. Iāve typically used a pair of Solomon XA Pro 3D and always loved them, so I was excited to try these out. I recently dabbled with a different brand and although generally happy with them, they didnāt tick all the boxes, so I came back to give these a try (my āgo-toā choice is the Ultra Pro 3D - mainly for the toe protection).Specifically, I got these for the UTMB race in Wales (UTS by UTMB) as I had issues with a very wet course the last time I did it. They run narrow which I knew from previous experience with Salomon shoes so I sized a half size up. The fit is fairy well but still feel narrow, so keep that in mind if you have wider feet. On the plus side, man are these some light trail runners! Iāve put about 30 trail miles on these and it still fells weird to hit the trails with something so light on my feet. They still maintain perfectly adequate toe protection; though parts of my upper foot feel vulnerable, I have had no issue and this may just be a perception thing for me. The quick lace system has a hefty pull in the middle which bounces right on the middle of the toe when fully cinched. The material of the shoe allows this to be felt pretty well. Itās too uncomfortable to tuck into the shoe and comes out after a few miles tucked under the laces (plus adds a tiny pressure point). There is no way to shorten the cinch so I will likely cut it off and tie a knot to make this shoe work for. There is a lot right with this shoe but I canāt look past this one issue with the cinch.
Extremely comfortable and stable shoe! I like the pull laces. I wear an orthotic lift in one shoe and this makes it easy to slip on and tie on the fit. Also, the insoles are super comfortable. The heel does a great job at securing your foot with very little if any lateral movement. The forefoot is definitely designed for slightly more narrow foot, however, maintains decent toe mobility room. Despite how streamlined the shoe is, it remains very stable and shock absorbing. Can wait to continue to wear it!

I do use Scarpa and La Sportiva now and then, but I've owned at least 25 pairs of Salmon in the last 15 years.The Genesis is *by far* the best Salomon shoe I've purchased. I have around 300 miles on them on rough Eastern Sierra trails.The only real complaint I've had about Solomon has been there upper durability. At 300 miles, my XAs/Missions/etc. are generally pretty ragged. Not so with these Genesis. The new Matrix fabric in these shoes is bombproof. Other than dirty, mine look pristine. I'm blown away actually they look so good. I've come to absolutely rely on the ability to finely adjust tension with the BOA and if Salomon were to give us a Genesis BOA it would be rare that I would don another shoe.Sizing is very normal Solomon (true to size -- go up a half if using for long runs). Width is reasonable (I have a very average width foot) and perhaps slightly wider than the historically narrow norm for Solomon.Overall, an "A+"
I have been using various Salomon shoes for a number of years and they have always fit perfectly. I am a huge fan of Salomon but I think I have to start looking elsewhere because the newer shoes featuring the Matrix upper all run far too narrow. I donāt have wide feet but I have found that the toe box on the latest S/Lab Ultra 3ās, S/Lab Genesis and now this Genesis model to be far too narrow.I just seem to be collecting expensive shoes that hurt my feet after a few miles of running.Do not consider these unless you are confident that you have narrow feet.Other than my own issues with fit, I canāt fault the shoe - Salomon always deliver. But please make them just a tad wider! (From everyone with normal size feet)
Thank you Salomon for making this wonderful shoe. The fit is precise, with a low vertical volume but slightly wider fit (wider than some of the S/Lab shoes I have tried on). My foot is held perfectly on steep, fast descents without my toes getting crunched by a narrow toebox. The shoe feels tough and durable but also nimble and light. It is grippy and responsive but also soft (enough) underfoot. I can happily take this on technical mountain trails, but can also smoothly run at HM pace on flat bit of road if required. After struggling to find this balance in multiple other shoes and other brands I have finally found my perfect trail shoe.
Very positive exerpience. A quick, highly agile ride. I found these to be poppy and responsive on trail. Durable matryx upper left me with no signs of wear after 200km of use, mid sole is still springy even. Quicklace and tongue stow set up is excellent and works well. I found that the shoe was less comfortable in the forefoot after longer efforts (>30km) but performed well on rocks and rooted terrain. I'm most impressed by the durability of the shoe!Fit me true to size compared to other Salomon shoes. They seem more narrow than thundercross and wider in the toe than speedcross and maybe even senserides. I'm not sure if the active chasis does anything but I have complaints about it being there.
