Disappointed, low quality shoe

The quality of Salomon shoes has gone downhill. First, the sizing is off. I have always worn a US size 7.5 in Salomon. I recently ordered a new pair but after wearing them
outside for the first time I realized they are too big. I had to order another pair in size 7 and am unable to send the 7.5 back because I wore them already. Additionally, the
support in these shoes breaks down much more quickly than they ever have, within 6 months or less, leaving not much in the way of arch support and overall secure holding
of your foot. I used to be able to get a year out of these shoes. And the lacing system doesn't stay tight, so I am constantly bending over to pull them tight. As a r... Show more

Excited to run my first trail Ultra in them in a couple months! *Can’t give a durability rate as I’ve had them less than a month, so will leave it in the middle at 3 stars. Incredible shoe...just buy 'em!
21 October 2023
I've been wearing Speedcrosses since the OG for hiking but I started trail running last year. Bought a pair of these a week or two before my 1st trail marathon. Race was on the red rocks of Sedona, AZ so a lot of people gave me some flack for choosing such an aggressively treaded shoe. I watched countless racers slip and slide across the rock, loose dry marbles, and wet sections from recent rain. These things gripped like Harambe to a small child! Everything hurt after the race except for my feet! Wore them with toe socks and had zero foot issues whatsoever. My distances are going up, and I find that these are good just about 30 miles before the lack of cushioning plays into the equation, so I'm ordering some Thundercrosses. Maximum comfort
13 July 2024
These are the 5th pair if speedcross trail shoes I’ve bought over many years and I love them. I use them for walking and hiking. I find them super comfortable and supportive and a perfect fit (size wise I go up half a size on my normal shoe size with these). The tie mechanism makes putting the shoes on and taking off super quick and also allows for easy adjustments. I find with these trainers compared to others they are a little narrower and I very rarely get any debris getting in my shoe. Breathable and comfortable on hot days too. I also really love the colour. I would definitely recommend. (I also have a pair of Speedcross Gortex and love these too, great for keeping your feet dry on a rainy day).... Show more

The Men's Salomon Speedcross 6 Shoes arrived damaged, has two noticeable character flaws on the right inner portion of the shoe at the top eyelet down approximately 1/2" down to include a hole in the leather, a grease smear embedded into the leather, and improper sewing of speed fabric at the Arch of the shoe that wrinkled/bunched up and lvisually looked like crap. The shoes were originally out of stock on the Website but a pair in the specific model, style, and color became available in only the one pair ize 11M in which I purchased. A shoe that was damaged, defective, or a factory reject / 2nd Quality item not suitable for retail intentionally passed off to a customer. A QA check would have caught the issue and prevented me from this exasperating ordeal to call and email SALOMON multiple times over with no resolution to date. The damaged shoes received were mailed back to SALOMON in UT on 9/08/23 (12 weeks ago) in which they got them via UPS, yet no correspondence received to date, refund, and intentional mishandling of this issue to date. Please don't ever change!

I have only good things to say about the Speedcross 6. I use them as a hiking shoe and they are the only one for me. First of all I have very narrow feet and these are the only shoes that fit like a glove. They hug my feet while simultaneously leaving a little room at the toes for descends. With other hiking shoes I always have to choose between enough room at the toes or the shoe not being to wide, with the speedcross 6 I can have both. My normal shoe size is 38 and I wear a 38 2/3 in Salomon. They run a tad bit small so I suggest sizing up one size for a little room at the toes. Also they are very comfortable, more than any other hiking shoe I've ever tried. Also they are very comfortable, more than any other hiking shoe I've ever tried. With normal hiking shoes my feet tend to hurt a lot faster because of the lack of cushioning, whereas with the Speedcross I can go on multiple-day hikes with no problems comfortwise. Also breathability is very important to me since I like hiking in warm weather, so it's awesome that they have this non waterproof version, as the majority of hiking shoes all have goretex and I prefer a summer hiking shoe without Goretex. As the cherry on top the quick lace system is just such a nice thing to have, with just one quick pull the laces hug your feet with the perfect amount of tension. They always stay in place and will never be too loose or too tight. One thing to keep in mind is that they are still trailrunners and therefore they will wear out faster than a hiking shoe/boot. They cannot be resoled and will not last you a lifetime. Therefore it's true that the lugs on the sole wear out faster compared to the sole of a hiking shoe. However that's a trade off I'll gladly make because of the cushioning, comfort and breathability I get in return. I can safely say this is the ultimate hiking shoe for me :)... Show more

Still the Best!

After 1000+ miles of hiking and trail running, my Speedcross 5’s were finally forced into “retirement.”They were the best pair of trail shoes I’d ever owned and I wanted to replace them with another pair exactly like them. However, that version seemed to have been “retired” as well and I could not find a new pair in my size. The SC6 looked to be the best replacement option, but when you’ve trekked over 1000 miles across the Texas Hill Country, in the same amazing shoes, for the last year- there was definitely some concern that the latest “upgrade” just wasn’t going to measure up.I happy to have found that it does. Same excellent grip, same comfort and same arch support. Thank you SpeedCross 6

I bought this shoes for my trip to Italy, knowing that I will do most of my excursion walking and hiking. Having flat feet and other joint problems, I need a solid shoes with good thread, one that would help me with my arch and stable enough so that it doesn’t move my ankle so much. I think speedcross 6 did all the job here. It was raining the entire time and still my feet were dry, even on a heavy rain. Italy is full of cobble stones and slippery steps and uneven asphalt, yet it is solid enough to place my foot on the ground every time. It has good thread and cushioned enough to keep my feet and ankle firm. Went on a 6 hrs hike along the coast of Amalfi, did over 600 steps with this shoes and it delivers its job! Way too wide, huge diversion from what Speedcross

I've been using Salomon Speedcross since its 2nd version - more than a decade. We are on the 6th now. What a downgrade on Salomon's part! Not just in the shoe fabric. The fit is HORRIBLE; wide, wide, wide! Too wide! The 6th edition, supposedly made for normal feet, is way too wide - my feet float in these shoes uncomfortably, which is a dangerous fit for running. I tightened the laces to adjust the fit - the fabric crinkles on top of the shoe (see pic), I get blisters. I compared these with Speedcross 3, which I still have. Speedcross 3 fit so well. Speedcross 6 - wide, not suitable for normal feet. What a terrible downgrade on Salomon's part. I used to love these shoes. (It makes me wonder how wide are their wide shoes nowadays).
