Although tight around the toes it is still quite a comfortable walking shoe with good traction that coped with jungles, rivers, the stairs up Adam’s Peak Mountain and other more rugged mountain trails. Some of the trails were above intermediate and I had no issues – so a low pass.When it came to aquatic conditions things didn’t go well, the upper part of the shoe has a synthetic chamois leather like material that soaks up a lot of water, the shoe also makes use of foam layered materials which combine with a thick mesh material to soak up and hold a great deal of water.Due to these materials the shoe doesn’t dry, which is both uncomfortable and causes the skin to soften and become susceptible to injury so these shoes can’t ever be used without socks – not an issue I had with the Techamphibian 1,2 and 4s.On our first night I washed the shoes in the late afternoon and left them to dry overnight (12-14 hours) with the rest of the group's shoes. In the morning mine were the only ones still wet, in fact they had hardly dried at all, so I started the day with wet shoes that had started to smell a little. By the fourth day the stench from my shoes had become intolerable and the group gave me an ultimatum to find a solution or discard the shoes that evening. Fortunately, I was able to buy some hospital grade disinfectant from a pharmacy to wash and soak the shoes in, this followed by an hour and a half of blow drying with a hairdryer resulted in a dry pair of shoes that smelt like a hospital that were acceptable to the group - so the shoes could stay. I have no doubt that hadn’t I blow dried the shoes every night from then on, these shoes wouldn’t have dried for the whole 2 weeks – there was a wide range of footwear used in the group and no one else had this problem. So, an aquatic shoe that doesn’t dry, smells bad after a couple of days and can cause injuries without wearing socks when wet, fails dismally in this area.Lastly, how well-ventilated and cool is this shoe? Again, a fail as the materials that soaked up all the water is also hot, soaks up and holds the sweat, and is unventilated - especially the synthetic chamois leather material.Back in Europe now, the shoes have been machine washed, smell nice and have been sent to the charity shop as I can’t think of any circumstances that I would ever use these shoes in the future.

Been looking for a pair of wet-weather shoes since my Chop Rocks wore out, and came across these which i just purchased. On initial wear, they are very stiff and scratchy which is expected, so wear some thin socks for the first few times. My feet are used to hiking 25km but these still cut into areas that were never an issue before. They are lightweight and feet will dry out quite quickly due to the amount of mesh on the shoes. I do find the back heel strap is not easily adjustable as well as the lace strap. I would still wear a thin pair of cotton socks to get a better feel with these shoes as the cotton will still dry out fast and protect your feet just that little bit more.

I bought these a month ago and am really pleased with them. They're extremely comfortable, really light, have amazing grip, and I like the optional way to have the heel support. They dry relatively quickly. I bought them for ocean rowing, launching on shingle and mud, and they're much better than the sailing shoes I was using before. I haven't had them long enough to know how they hold up to salt water, I am rinsing with fresh water every use and so far so good. I have also worn them dog walking and cycling. I think they'll be my primary footwear for a trip to New Zealand later this year.

I typically buy Columbia (affordable and nice styles), and I needed to replace my water shoes I use for hiking trails with rivers, streams and waterfalls.The Techamphibian is pretty lightweight. My laces used to always come undone on the trail, so I actually love the no tie laces; great idea and design. I also like the collapsible heel, but haven’t had to use that feature yet. However, I’m sure it will come in handy this summer. These shoes feel pretty good and comfortable so far. Bought these water shoes for walking on the beach and coast mainly and after first trying on I thought they were great. Look good, fit well and have a decent sole just like a normal Salomon trainer BUT, after taking my first step onto the beach/anywhere near the sand they show how flawed they are! They literally have a one way entry for sand that makes the shoe fill up painfully without any way for it to escape without going through a full routine of removing the shoes, removing the insoles, rinsing & banging out thoroughly and then, walking barefoot away from the sand so it doesn't get back in before putting the shoes back on. I already loved Salomon shoes especially their hiking shoes with Gortex. Saw these and thought I’d give them a try. Boy, am I glad I did! These shoes are awesome. As soon as they arrived I used them to pressure wash my house. I felt safe and secure while climbing up and down a wet ladder. They are lightweight, super comfortable, and dry quickly. I’m also thrilled with the color. The only concern I have is if they will be stinky since they will be wet often and I am wearing them without socks. I will update this review once I find out how they hold up after frequent use. I hope Salomon will make more of these shoes in different colors. They are my new favs! I highly recommend you get a pair. You won’t be disappointed.

international travel is one of those tricky pack and not check delimas. my intentions were to have this footwear in early spring for a couple of trips to jamaica that also required some skill set usage along with r&r. in the past i have always worn my speed cross in rivers and streams. worked fantastic in water or on land,.not so much with the tamph 5. the custom fitting is fantastic and materials were top notch with the exception of in sole. not that comfy for anything all day dry or wet. i personally would do two things to improve. make souls less rigid. your in water and need every surface to allow you not only to have a tactile feel but also grip. second, change the insole for all around comfort. a perforated foam or neoprene would be a good fit.
