The Salomon Speedcross 4 Shoes make muddy trail runs fun. This is actually an all-terrain, all-condition shoe that provides great grip and cushion as well as just enough protection on top without getting your dogs too hot. The upper is built with a water resistant textile with an anti-debris mesh cover over the tongue. Stuff doesn’t go through it, and with the armored toe cap and heel support, it’s pretty tough, resisting tearing and shredding even when rubbing up against jagged rocks. The material is given shape by the Sensifit upper, which wraps the foot from the soles to the laces, so the upper doesn’t move or stretch. The Sensifit is complemented with Quicklaces, a polyester cord that easily and quickly adjusts around your feet and is secured with a spring-loaded lace-lock. The excess lace can be then stuffed into a pocket atop the tongue. Salomon has enhanced this fit system with something they call Endofit, which is an integral fit sleeve that wraps the midfoot and extends the length of the tongue; it adds comfort and improves feedback, extending your feel past your feet, so that the shoe almost feels a part of you. Directly underfoot is the Ortholite sockliner. It’s a foam that retains its shape under pressure, keeping the cushioning feeling the same as new even after months bearing the brunt of your weight. It’s an open-cell structure that breathes, keeping your feet drier and more comfy. The midsole is injected EVA foam. It’s excellent for trail running environments. The shoe 30mm thick in back, going down to 20mm in front, for a 10mm drop. The sole itself has a very open lug design. This is to both dig into hard ground and let soft stuff fall out.
