Disappointed, low quality shoe

The quality of Salomon shoes has gone downhill. First, the sizing is off. I have always worn a US size 7.5 in Salomon. I recently ordered a new pair but after wearing them
outside for the first time I realized they are too big. I had to order another pair in size 7 and am unable to send the 7.5 back because I wore them already. Additionally, the
support in these shoes breaks down much more quickly than they ever have, within 6 months or less, leaving not much in the way of arch support and overall secure holding
of your foot. I used to be able to get a year out of these shoes. And the lacing system doesn't stay tight, so I am constantly bending over to pull them tight. As a r... Show more

This is my second pair of Speedcross 6, but my first time buying a Gortex running shoe. I train on trails in the early mornings, typically passing through quite a bit of high wet

get gitty at the feeling of dry socks when I know they should be soaked. The heat buildup is not an issue really, at least when the environment is properly matched. I did wear
them on a travel day for lack of having another clean pair of kicks and they were too sweaty, but it was out of context and I definitely don't fault the shoes. They ... Show more

They are very comfortable, easy to put on and take off and feel secure on my foot while running, providing the stability and traction I need on the trail in all kinds of conditions. I also really like the look. The colors are great and they hide their dirtiness well, which my last pair (light green) definitely did not do!Having a pair of shoes that I like generally boosts my motivation in those dark hours of the morning when my subconscious mind is scanning for an excuse to not head out on the run. Everything helps!I'm looking forward to some marathon length trail events with them later this year.... Show more

According to the Salomon website these shoes do come in a wide version as well. I would definitely suggest trying those if your feet are typically on the wider side. These are true to Salomon-sizing. I am usually a 9 in women's shoes, but an 8 or 8.5 in Salomon footwear. Salomon generally sizes differently than other brands, so I would suggest going off your European size to select the right fit (Women 9 US is usually a Euro 40 - but in Salomon's Euro 40 is an 8 or 8.5). If you are unsure, I would suggest trying on a pair in-store before purchasing online to ensure you have the right size.I prefer the Quicktab pull-tab lace system over conventional laces. Again, because I have narrow feet, I find normal laces too long and I have to double or triple-knot them so they don't drag. With the Quicklace system, you just tuck the excess into the tongue of the shoe and there is nothing to worry about.... Show more

Great Shoes!

I ordered these to be a crossover shoe for work and the trail. Let me tell you, these are the most comfortable shoe's that I have had right out of the box. Normally I have an adjustment period where I can only wear shoes at work for 1/2 a shift and then I need to change them over to my regular footwear until they've been broken in. With these I have had them on for an entire shift on day one with no pains or aches in my feet.If it makes any difference in your decision, I am a Chiropractor, and my job requires me to balance and stabilize on one leg while supporting someone else's body. The grip on these shoes are stellar and I have not slipped or lost stabilization once while wearing them. They keep the arch supported while not cramming the toe region. Converted to a Salomon wearer! My husband and I love to hike and with every shoe I’ve bought I’ve always had issues with traction. So when looking for a shoe, knowing that I was going to tackle the trails in Kauai, I needed something that was suitable for all the elements, specifically mud. These shoes did not disappoint! They held up in steep terrain and muddy conditions. We crossed rivers, and even went swimming at the bottom of a waterfall. I was especially pleased that there were no hotspots.I typically wear a size 7 1/2 and found that the shoes were a little bit roomy. If I would’ve had time before our trip, I would have purchased a size 7 just for comparison.Little did I know that my husband also purchased a pair of Salomons before our trip. My favorite trail shoes of all time
22 September 2024
I have been buying Speedcross sneakers for years, and this version continues to be amazing across the board. I use them every day in the summer on rough, steep trails. I also have a non-waterproof pair I wear when I go to work or anyplace other than the woods. Please never stop making these.- Fit: wide toe box doesn’t cramp my feet, but the heel fits so that it doesn’t rub on the back of my heel like most shoes. The way the shoe is tied allows me to adjust fit for different terrain.- Grip and sole: these shoes are great on the slippery rocks and roots that make up most of my time in the woods. The midsole is stiff, providing protection, but the toe flexes easily and is thin enough so I can feel the ground.- Waterproofing: I replaced my last pair because they ... MoreI have been buying Speedcross sneakers for years, and this version continues to be amazing across the board. Perfect fit, great support, stylish looks
16 May 2024
I was apprehensive about purchasing a pair of shoes online, especially when I would be walking in them for 9+km every day. Would the fit be right? I was pleasantly surprised to find that the fit was perfect. In addition, the shoes provided support in all the places my feet needed it most. The stylish looks were a definite bonus. And I love the lace system. I wore through the soles under the heel with other shoes I have purchased (not Salomon), but this shoe looks like it will last longer, with a thick (but lightweight) sole. On the day my shoes arrived, I immediately put them on, and wore them all day. Hours and a few km later, including mostly pavement walking, my feet still felt great. At the end of the day, my feet thanked me for making this purchase.... Show more

Perfect Nursing Shoe
19 July 2024
I first came across the Speedcross 5 shoe at Winners and loved the colour, the comfort, and the waterproofing, they quickly became my favourite, wear everywhere, shoe. I had to get a pair for work, so I ordered these online direct from Solomon. I'm a nurse who is on her feet all day and despite these shoes being for trail running, they are perfect for nursing too. They're slip resistant, "water" proof, super comfortable, and I love how they look. I put in a Birkenstock arch support and I'm good to go for 12+ hours. The only complaint I have is that since these are for trail running, (soft forest floor, etc) the tread wears down very quickly if you wear them on pavement (which I ended up doing to my first pair because I loved them so much) So far, the hospital floors ... MoreI first came across the Speedcross 5 shoe at Winners and loved the colour, the comfort, and the waterproofing, they quickly became my favourite, wear everywhere, shoe. I wish Solomon offered more shoe styles in Gortex, but I'm happy with the Speedcross as long as they keep making them in cool colours.... Show more

I have only good things to say about the Speedcross 6. I use them as a hiking shoe and they are the only one for me. First of all I have very narrow feet and these are the only shoes that fit like a glove. They hug my feet while simultaneously leaving a little room at the toes for descends. With other hiking shoes I always have to choose between enough room at the toes or the shoe not being to wide, with the speedcross 6 I can have both. My normal shoe size is 38 and I wear a 38 2/3 in Salomon. They run a tad bit small so I suggest sizing up one size for a little room at the toes. Also they are very comfortable, more than any other hiking shoe I've ever tried. Also they are very comfortable, more than any other hiking shoe I've ever tried. With normal hiking shoes my feet tend to hurt a lot faster because of the lack of cushioning, whereas with the Speedcross I can go on multiple-day hikes with no problems comfortwise. Also breathability is very important to me since I like hiking in warm weather, so it's awesome that they have this non waterproof version, as the majority of hiking shoes all have goretex and I prefer a summer hiking shoe without Goretex. As the cherry on top the quick lace system is just such a nice thing to have, with just one quick pull the laces hug your feet with the perfect amount of tension. They always stay in place and will never be too loose or too tight. One thing to keep in mind is that they are still trailrunners and therefore they will wear out faster than a hiking shoe/boot. They cannot be resoled and will not last you a lifetime. Therefore it's true that the lugs on the sole wear out faster compared to the sole of a hiking shoe. However that's a trade off I'll gladly make because of the cushioning, comfort and breathability I get in return. I can safely say this is the ultimate hiking shoe for me :)... Show more

Way too wide, huge diversion from what Speedcross

I've been using Salomon Speedcross since its 2nd version - more than a decade. We are on the 6th now. What a downgrade on Salomon's part! Not just in the shoe fabric. The fit is HORRIBLE; wide, wide, wide! Too wide! The 6th edition, supposedly made for normal feet, is way too wide - my feet float in these shoes uncomfortably, which is a dangerous fit for running. I tightened the laces to adjust the fit - the fabric crinkles on top of the shoe (see pic), I get blisters. I compared these with Speedcross 3, which I still have. Speedcross 3 fit so well.
