As I have small feet (size 3), I’ve been struggling to find a pair of decent walking shoes and so was absolutely delighted to find these. And the added bonus was that they needed no wearing in before our hiking holiday in Wales this summer.

I owned these for a year and absolutely loved them. Then, a hook at the top of the boot snapped off. I bought the same pair just a few weeks ago and on the second hike with them, hooks on both boots broke off. There must be a defect in the metal.

I bought these last minute for my trip to Ireland going on The Kerry Way trail. Didn’t need to break in and felt excellent support all the way. Waterproof worked well, although we had a day of heavy rain when I got soaked through, I’m talking about 5 hours of walking in heavy rain when the path becomes a stream. The shoes dried in a few days. I ended up with a few blisters from walking in wet shoes but that’s not even close to how badly others in the group were affected wearing theirs. Realistically, the best support I could expect as someone who doesn’t go hiking that often and to that level of difficulty. Very happy!
These boots are very comfortable out of the box. I have wimpy feet that usually need to break shoes in first, however, I wore these the whole first day and took a few long walks during breaks and they were still pretty comfortable. The ball of my right foot did start feeling tired at the end of the day though, but again, I have wimpy feet.I've worn these boots a few more times since and I am growing happier with these each time I wear them. Today I hiked up and down a rock lined concrete channel along the LA River and the grip was solid. I didn't feel like I was going to slip at all. Those Vibram soles are fantastic. With the recent rain, I was also able to test the shoes out in wet weather. The Ortholite insoles are very comfortable and breathable too. I wore wool socks on my walks and my feet did not feel hot at all.I also like the dark grey and green combo for the shoes. Pretty much goes with every casual/hiking outfit you'll want to wear. I hope these boots last a long time because I would love to do more hiking in these.
After a few hikes in these boots, I am really excited about them. They are super lightweight, which will be really nice on backpacking trips and longer hikes. But unlike other lightweight boots I've had in the past, they seem super sturdy with great traction. I am optimistic that they will hold up to all of my adventures, and they are really easy to get on and off!
I usually wear a size 7.5/8 and have typically wide feet. These are my first pair of hiking boots. I went up half a size and with hiking socks these fit perfectly! Great for any terrain. One thing to note is that these are more water resistant than water proof- if the front of your boots are submerged in water for a few minutes you’ll feel a little dampness (not totally soaked) within your socks. Wear good hiking socks !
I tried Merrell, Salomon, Danner, Altra, La Sportiva boots but these are my favorite! Lightweight, grippy, protective. Even though they are GTX, I don’t get swamp feet (and I am blister prone). I did change out my socks during lunch breaks though.They served me well on the Enchantments (google: Aasgard pass) and I look forward to more hiking/backpacking with these!
I was a little skeptical about how protective these shoes would be on the trail because they feel so light/thin, but they were great! The Gore-Tex helped keep my feet from freezing while stopping the perpetual PNW drizzle from soaking in.Overall, they were comfortable, had decent ankle support, lightweight, and perfect traction for someone as prone to slipping as I am.Looking forward to more trails with these!
Bought these based on the reviews and was shocked at how poorly they performed. Didn’t keep my feet cool in the slightest, I felt every single rock while hiking in an area that wasn’t particularly rocky and ended up with blisters and soreness for days afterwards. I fluctuate between standard and wide width depending on the style of shoe and this one definitely ended up way too narrow. Save your money and avoid this boot at all costs!
