The biggest disappointment for me with this boot is that, no matter how tight you tie them, the back padded area sticks out and catches my uniform pants. I can’t constantly be pulling on my pants and wiggling my feet to fix my pants. For this reason, they just will not work for me on duty.

I bought these boots about a month ago due to my 511 giving me pain. I had already heard great things from Salomon boots. I bought a 7M-8.5W. I usually wear 6.5M- 8/8.5W Depending on the shoe. I must say 6.5M would have fit a bit better but I do not mind the extra space since during summer time my feet get swollen. I have stood over 10hrs and the feet pain in MINIMUM, compare to how horribly my feet would ache with other boots.

I'm really happy with these after wearing them daily for several weeks now, including several bigs days spent on my feet. They're comfortable and warm, seem to breathe really well (I haven't had any overheating issues when inside), and the grip traction is excellent. I haven't had any issues with the side-strap that some people report... I haven't felt it on my foot at all, and it certainly hasn't caused any discomfort.

Why does salomon not offer more color options for each boot and why do some boots not have the color options that the others have? Its weird the non gortex version of these has ranger green and black but the gortex version basically only has black…. Why not have a tan version for either option? You might sell more boots if you had more color options. Thats whats holding me back from buying these… basic black boot like im an emt lol. Give me tan and black or at least the ranger green and black.
I learned an important lesson early on in my career and that’s never go cheap on your feet. Being on my feet all day means I need a good pair of boots. These fit very well and have all the support I need. After three weeks of everyday hard use they’ve held up very well so far and I expect to have them for a long time. When it’s time, I definitely will be buying another pair.
Light weight, water proof, comfortable. These boots are exceptional boots. The new style looks great. They’re still not quite fully broken in yet so if I tie them too tight, they’ll hurt the outside of my feet. If I keep them looser then I have no issues. As it breaks in I know it’ll be fine. I have narrow feet so I should have no issues as they break in.
I got these to replace a pair of regular X-Ultra Pioneer hiking shoes which started to fall apart in less than a year. These Forces boots are definitely higher quality and have stood up better. My only gripe is the sizing of these seems a bit looser than my Pioneers, but I haven't experienced any ill effects from it as of yet. Tying them a bit tighter seems to keep my foot in place.
The shoes are solid, and seem like they’ll last but the laces are too slick and come untied constantly. I’ve tried all sorts of different tying methods and nothing works.After I get my vest and duty belt on, it’s a pain to constantly retie these laces. I’ll be looking to replace the laces soon, which is fine but not for almost 200 dollars.
As with most Salomon products the build quality and waterproofing seem good and they are super light weight. However, the side support lace loop on the outside of the boot is terrible. The plastic style strap digs into the side of my foot making the boot unbearable after about an hour of straight walking and faster if the terrain is uneven. I have tried adjusting the lace tension and giving several weeks to break in but that had no affect on discomfort. The boots fit well but the strap is terrible and in a horrible spot. I was hopeful they would be good, but the discomfort has moved them into the do not wear pile.
I love Solomon boots, and have several other pairs, including XA Forces Gore-Tex Mid. I also ordered these to use as tactical boots in a law enforcement role. All of my other Solomon boots are men's size 10, so I ordered the same with these. When they arrived they were way too big! I returned the for a 9.5, which was still a little big, but could have worked. However, there was an issue with one of the boots that made it terribly uncomfortable. I have returned them, and I am looking at other Solomon options. I really had high hopes for these, but once on my feet I just didn't love them.
