The 5 stars are for quality in workmanship and fit. These boots are comfortable right out of the box. I use these for everyday work and am convinced that I will order another pair for train-up and use at the Bataan Memorial March at White Sands. If there is a negative, for me that is, is that I prefer traditional lacing and there is no option for it nor is there a way to use regular laces with these as the eyelets are extremely small. Still, I will order another pair.

I highly recommend these shoes for everyday work and hanging out. The fit is a little loose. First pair I felt was too loose, but tried a 1/2 size smaller, but too tight. Just need to snug them up a bit. I’ve had many pair of leather hiking/work boots, but these are the best for comfort. To be honest I have not had them long enough for heavy use yet, but trust the brand.

By far one of the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn. Broke them in on the mountains in Colorado with no wear-in issues or hot spots (with good socks). Then spent two months in the field training and the quick laces snapped several times on ops, fixed by just not using the top eyelets. Unfortunately one of them developed an obnoxious squeak in the sole that I haven’t been able to fix, making them unusable.

I’ve had 6-7 pairs of these, some with GoreTex, some without depending on use. There have been about as many changes. I used to get Ranger Green until those became unavailable. Last two pairs, the pocket for speed laces was changed - preferred old style with laces NOT running through it and bottom access. Models with colored soles are non marking - black tread leaves marks on some surfaces. Comfortable and long wearing uppers. Usually replace insole every 3 mos. Rarely wear anything else.
I have bought 3 or these, the first one I bought was the older variant of the shoe. I had worn that for 3 years without problems. The second pair I bought was the newest variant and it lasted close to a year before the string broke on both shoes, I have recently bought another pair and am happy to wear them, these are great shoes however they will have to fix the shoe lace problem in the future.
I have been wearing this exact boot for a few years now. The first pair I had eventually got worn out so I bought a new pair. Upon opening the box and trying them on, I noticed a few changes. One of the biggest change was the string you pull that tightens the boot to your foot. Before, after tightening them you would tuck the excess string up underneath a pocket on the shoe tongue. It was a good design but had flaws. I often ended up with the strings falling down out of the pocket and having to re-tuck them multiple times throughout a work day. The new pair I received, the design is different and way better. Now after tightening the string, they tuck in from a pocket on the top of the boot tongue. It doesn’t seem like a major change but man it got really annoying ... MoreI have been wearing this exact boot for a few years now. I work in a shop and office environment and am on my feet about half the day walking around, so I need a boot that doesn't tire out my feet and offers good support and traction. I've had 6 pairs of these boots over the last 7 years and they haven't let me down. I prefer the non-GTX versions as I live in Arizona and it's very dry here,, but have used the Gortex versions and they do a good job of keeping water out. The latest pair has some nice upgrades to the speed lacing system and lace garage feature and the coyote color is awesome. Pricey, but worth it if you spend a lot of time on your feet.
My pinky toes are being rubbed and the seam near the angle seems poorly placed. These seem very well made but why is it so hard to find a “true to size” boot? I ordered a half size up and it seems they still do not fit properly. I unfortunately wore them outside before looking at the return policy and well I am stuck with a boot that while has proper length is rubbing my pinky toes and ankle. I have been wearing Salomons exclusively since 2004 but have been more than unimpressed these last few years. Very disappointing. I do like how they make these smaller than 7 as I’m a 6 but the 6.5 isn’t doing it for me. Also seems others don’t enjoy the seam placement near the ankle as well. Thicker socks would help but do not enjoy thick socks. Hopefully they will allow a return.
I have previously owned 2 pairs of the first gen XA Forces Mid. I wear a size 11 and have a wide foot at the toe box. It appears they have added additional padding to the sides of the boot, not a bad change but it wasn’t something I thought was necessary to change based off my old pairs. I would recommend if you have a wide toe box, to order at least a half size larger than your normal size to ensure a fit unless you can try these on prior. With a size 11 in these boots my foot would not fit period without going to a larger size. I wear these boots daily and my previous pairs outlasted every other boot I have used at work. I am sure these boots will also live up to my previous pairs.
Worn sz11 boots for past 15 years and no issue until this boots. It is stable, sturdy and very comfortable boots however it is very narrow and my toes couldnt get over the blisters throughout breaking in. Even after stretching and breaking them in for 2 month it still got me a pain and blisters so had to let it go but if you size them right, I prefer these over Lowas.
