I discovered this marvel of a shoe back in 2017, in the US. For a very long time, these were the only shoes I had for all occasions and conditions. And boy did I wear them.3 years later and I swear, they are almost in a perfect condition (I really don't know how) and are the most comfortable shoes I own.Everyone was so impressed that my wife decided to buy a pair for herself and so did my brother.Month and a half ago, I bought them again, even the same color. Not only are they indestructible beasts, but we all find them beautiful as well. They are tough, they are comfortable, they are reliable, and basically everything you could wish for in a shoe. All in all, I can honestly recommend them to everyone.Thank you, Salomon, for making these unbelievable ... MoreI discovered this marvel of a shoe back in 2017, in the US. Very pleased with my purchase. This is the 2nd time I have bought this model of trail running shoe (first time via runnerinn) and it is works for me both as a trail runner and walking shoe. Although as a regularly used walking shoe, my last pair needed replacing after a year. The recommended usage frequency in the description is accurate. I also buy a half a size bigger as standard to allow for foot expansion. Also happy using runnerinn. I received the shoes within a week of purchase.

Slightly waterproof.Good heel comfortwfich I feel gets gradually thinner down to toe end.. Had to put better I soles inside which when you are paying a decent amount t of money to start with is not expected.. I bought these on the strength of my quest 3 g boots... Shame they didn't live up to expectations... Would I buy again???No.. I bought my first pair of xa pro 3D gtx about 3 years ago. I wore them for everyday use, hiking and work as a courier. These shoes fit the bill in every way! Working as a courier comfort, durability and support in a shoe are important to me, Salomon shone for me on every way. To have a shoe last almost 3 years before wearing the soles out is stupendous!!Sadly I replaced them with the xa discovery gtx and was disappointed. Found those shoes to fit snugger than others, they actually caused some pain in the top of my foot. I thought maybe it would improve after break in; but after a week I just couldn’t take it. I wish I could remember what I did with the packing slip after purchasing them from a major sport food store online because they’d be on their way back!! The current XA Pro 3D GTX is a nice return to form for Solomon. I have had several pairs of the XA Pro 3D GTX and the non GTX version. Solomon had moved to a neoprene tongue in my last pair of XA Pro 3D. I believe the GTX version also had a different tongue system that, while designed to better retain the shoe, also tended to slip down and lose its form.Thankfully, the system on this shoe, the tongue is all fabric with a fully padded top area behind the buckle pocket. This will never slide down as recent models did.The fit is on point for a trail shoe. I generally need wide models but I have no problem with their standard. All of the construction seems to be in line with the high quality I have come to expect from Solomon shoes.
I work in Conservation Enforcement in Michigan. I wanted to try something other than the traditional black leather boots and something different for the summer months. I wanted a light, low and breathable shoe that had some ruggedness to it. These have blown me away.I had my doubts about the quick lace system at first (namely durability), but once I tried them on I was sold. Unlike other shoes from other brands, these fit your entire foot snugly and securely. The toe box is also more than generous in terms of both width and height. Other shoes were either too tight in the toes, or not tight enough in the heel causing slippage and blisters.I've worn these for 8 hours a day 5 days a week for the past 4 weeks. I've had not one slip or slide. No blisters, no hot spots, no problems. These shoes actually get me excited to put them on and move around. They are so comfortable and reliable that I'm going to buy more. I've never owned a shoe / boot from Salomon before and can tell you that I'll be buying from them for many years to come. My wife even had to buy a pair because of how much I raved about them. I don't trail run (by choice), but I have had a few foot chases and can say that I've never felt so agile off of pavement before. I'm also pretty impressed with the durability. If you're looking for something that fits like a tennis shoe but has more durability and traction, look no further. Maybe there's better options out there for the trail running enthusiast, but for the casual trail blazer these cannot be beat.
I have worn Salomon XA Pro 3D GTX as well as Salomon XA Pro 3D and other Salomon shoes for 20 years The XA Pro 3D GTX has a totally different feel from the non-goretex version. It's much more comfortable and the fit has a noticeably larger feel to the equivalent size in the non-goretex version. I always find the uppers wear out and holes appear around the big toe area before the soles wear out (and the £D chassis soles don't last too long!). Not the longest lasting shoe and inconsistencies in manufacturing mean that not all are waterproof. So why do I continue to buy them? Because I like the lacing system (pull to tighten / release) and they're genrerally comfortable (apart from a recent pair of XA Pro 3D's that had a jagged stitching issue and tongues which weren't ... MoreI have worn Salomon XA Pro 3D GTX as well as Salomon XA Pro 3D and other Salomon shoes for 20 years The XA Pro 3D GTX has a totally different feel from the non-goretex version. Because I like the lacing system (pull to tighten / release) and they're genrerally comfortable (apart from a recent pair of XA Pro 3D's that had a jagged stitching issue and tongues which weren't straight: Asiatic hands have slipped in Vietnam!). I put a brand new pair of these on, straight out of the box, and done a 30 mile walk. No problems! However due to my recent experience (where I got a 20% off voucher from Salomon for my loyalty and bought another pair of XA Pro 3D GTX only to find them at a lower price in my high street) I'm actively looking to switch to another brand with a similar lacing system. And I think I've found what I'm looking for. Goodbye Salomon!
I have bought 4 pairs of Salomon trail running shoes. Three of those pairs were Salomon XA Pro 3D trail running shoes. All 2 of 3 pairs experienced a separation of the sole of the shoe from the body of the shoes. These separations were several inches.Additionally, none of these shoes were water proof as advertised on the REI site and as printed on the shoes themselves. The price of one pair was refunded as the defect occurred during the 1 year warranty. The second returned pair was 2 weeks beyond the one year and REI refused to refund the purchase price claiming that the 5 inch separation of the sole and body of the shoe was not a defect. I found this to be incredible in light of REI's reputation for standing behind their products.Since I love the quick lacing of the Salomon shoes, I dipped my toes into the waters for the 4th time.My most recent purchase were Salomon XA Pro 3D GTX Trail Running Shoes. I bought the more expensive trail running shoes with Gortex lining in the hope that theywould be waterproof and not separate like the other Salomon running shoes. I was wrong. After only 5 months, both of the gortex running shoes also had the soles separating fromthe bodies at the toes and running at least 6 inches down the shoe. Also, despite advertising that these gortex shoes were water proof, they were not.I am returning these shoes as they are within the 1 year warranty period.Beware of buying these shoes as the problems with lack of waterproofing and separation of soles from the the bodies of the shoes has not been addressed by Salomon and are stilled sold by REI.
Purchased in August 2015. These are perhaps the best hiking shoes I have ever owned. I have sweaty feet yet had little trouble in these though they are blanketed in GoreTex. In the 4.5 years I owned them I hiked a dozen 14'ers in Colorado in rain, snow (with gaiters), and in sun scrambling up steep terrain. The structure was never compromised. There is plenty of tread remaining. Nothing is fraying. No problems. They finally broke when my friend went snowshoeing and his metal buckle punctured the Salomon's apex and now there is a water breach. That's not the shoe's fault. Had it not been for that, these would have lasted for a few more years. Because of these Salomon's, I am sticking with the company and purchased yesterday a replacement pair; yet this time I need more support for ankle rolling and I bought the X Ultra 3 mid GoreTex in olive.
I bought these as a pair of light hikers. Initial comfort was OK. The Speedlace system is a bit gimmicky and overall I prefer having laces so that I can properly snug up the shoe-- Speedlace seems to create spots that are too tight.I gave these 2 star for a few reasons. One, after applying waterproofing treatment, they became very squeaky. Maybe the fabric isn't designed to have it re-applied. this speaks to their overall throwaway nature, which I discovered when they wore out in the Achilles heel area and when the mesh near the toe box started ripping and pulling away. now in a few dozen more wearings they will be completely shredded. I have had cheap sneakers more durable than this, certainly not expected from Salomon.
