Huge hunk of plastic, with a mate display that is good for reading text, but has very shallow viewing angles, looks washout and thus not good for watching movies/videos. The keyboard is awesome to type on, the search key can be assigned to be a normal ALL CAPS key, but the track pad is horrible, it takes a lot of brute force to make it click, and it flexes a lot, seems like no support underneath it. Just get a mouse and avoid using the track pad. The speakers are amazing, they produce very neutral and clear sound with very good stereo separation. It has charging USB C port on both sides which makes it convenient. That is it in a nutshell, if you mostly read the web, type papers, etc this will be a good chrome machine. Taking this back, the search continues for a better machine. This time the problem is not money, the problem is availability, with the Coronavirus crisis seems like everyone and their grand mother went out and bought every single bicycle, every single tablet and every single computer, so there are no supplies available in stock. Everything has to be order online to hurry up and wait. That is the new world order.

New drawbacks for a much higher price.

I don't like this chromebook because the battery life is atrocious. My last chromebook was about 10 years older and over $100 cheaper- its battery life was about 8 hours and it charged up in about 1.5 Because of this, it made the chromebook extremely portable. It's smaller and lighter than my laptop and because it lasted so long on a charge, I didn't need to find an outlet when I used it. I could take it and sit anywhere without worrying about having a power source right next to me, outside, to a cafe, anywhere. This new chromebook is much heavier and its battery life is about 2.5 hours on a full charge and it will recharge in about 3 hours. It just sips battery like crazy. It has a very nice 4k screen and this could contribute to the battery suck. However, in my opinion it performs the same as my much older much cheaper chromebook. The 4k screen is the only nice thing about this chromebook and is not worth the hike in price, weight, and the drastic sacrifice in battery life.

Decent battery life - I use mine at school for maybe an hour or so every day and I only need to charge it once a week (and even then it'll only be down to 30-40%). Performance isn't that great, but I bought the device knowing that it wouldn't be, so no surprises there. Scrolling in VSCode is pretty laggy, so I've got used to navigating code without scrolling as much. The touchpad is pretty bad, but I've heard that this is common amongst Chromebooks and may be more to do with the OS than the hardware. The build quality seems really good. The lid is aluminium, and the body is made of decent plastic. Minus the materials, this laptop has a pretty MacBook-ish feeling in terms of design. An important note: don't get this Chromebook if you intend to boot anything other than Chrome OS. I was hoping to be able to run Ubuntu or Arch Linux on it, but unfortunately it seems to be a model that isn't particularly well supported by the various tools required to get other operating systems working.

Super fast. Limited programs. Syncs w/ Samsung p
25 August 2024

I've had two of these. One from 2013 and another in 2020. It is a super fast really great computer BUT both computers had the lower right corner of the screen break where the hinge to open and close is. As long as you don't want to close it then you can continue using it, but both have officially went to crap. One won't charge and the other shows it is on but you cannot see anything on the screen. The first one was knocked on the floor by my son, but the second one had a really nice heavy duty case that it was never out of. I was extremely careful with it and SOMEHOW it didn't even last as long as the first one and did the same break. I loved it but I can have it breaking just because I open and close it.

Touchpad is borderline unusable

It's cheap and has a big screen. That's what I wanted, and that's what I got. The screen isn't particularly bright, but it's fine for most uses. It's a little slow - a little bit more RAM would have made a big difference, but it's not too big of a deal. At this price point, I wasn't expecting all that much.HOWEVER... the touchpad is truly terrible. Get a wireless mouse if you plan on purchasing this chromebook. The touchpad is not very responsive (I've tweaked the touchpad settings, it isn't an issue with that), so scrolling and trying to move the cursor around the screen is often frustrating. The worst part is the touchpad buttons. It sticks nearly EVERY time I try to click something. Super annoying, but I'll survive...I bought this chromebook for $209 during a black friday sale. I won't say that I regret the purchase, but if I could go back in time I'd probably drop an extra $100 or so for something significantly better. Still, not bad for a $200 purchase. I DEFINITELY would not recommend this at the $320 list price.

20 October 2023

We have purchased over 40 of these chromebooks. The good,Decent screen size and enough processing power that the browser does not lag. Fairly good materials. Of the 40 we have, most have survived our employees. It is a fairly big cheap laptop. Key travel is good. The bad,Not durable despite the good materials. Chargers failed on 80% of ones owned. Screen hinges break easily. The screen is very dim and should be used in a dimly lit room away from direct sunlight. The track pad is terrible we have had to buy everyone external mice.

[Rewarded Review] Large screen
14 March 2023

At the time I purchased this, it was the one of largest screen size of chromebooks that I could find. A big plus it was Samsung because I had a phone and a set of ear buds made by them too for easy pairing of all devices. Now I only bought a chromebook because it was only to stream videos most of the time and a few other things. I knew the limitations of chromebooks OS.The only problem I have it sometimes it will fall asleep and no matter what I do to wake it up, the screen will stay off. So I have to force shut off then turn it back on. It doesn't happen to often but it's still annoying.

First things first, we must establish that this laptop is geared towards being an affordable laptop. It’s unfair to compare it with higher end laptops in terms of features and capacity. It is however a worthy successor to the Chromebook 3, and probably one of the best laptops at its price point. The specs are available, but just a quick rundown. The aesthetic is pretty nice and kinda reminiscent of a MacBook. Clean and uncluttered, with no visible screws and sleek contours. The screen is a nice 16.5, and the 4+ offers 64 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM. It weighs in at a very lightweight 3.7 lbs, and has a battery life of 10.5 hours per the detail specs. (I like these details in online reviews to help with decision making, and I am by no means a computer expert.)For those of you like me, here are the reasons I think this laptop is superb. This laptop is lighter, has a bigger screen, and more memory than almost any other comparably priced laptop. This is a nice uncomplicated laptop that can easily handle simultaneously streaming movies, browsing the web, checking email, and doing homework. In other words, this Chromebook is ideal for students and people who don’t need a super expensive computer just to perform most of their online business. Cab this laptop compare with a 2,000 dollar gaming laptop? No, but that’s understandable. This is a sturdy workhorse though. My child’s school issues each child a Chromebook, and my kiddo was easily able to navigate the menus and interface with ease. (He’s 9.) My kiddo promptly dropped this laptop off the couch, and I was impressed that the Chromebook was absolutely fine. All in all, as a mom, I feel this is a great laptop for the money.

15 February 2024

This is the WORST LAPTOP I HAVE EVER PURCHASED. It was a waste of money. Unfortunately I didnt go back in time to return it. It is SO SLOW AND LAGS SO MUCH. It causes anxiety. I purchased it to project google slides but even that is a laborious job for this laptop. It takes way longer than it should to just open up any web browser. I tried to stream a movie, but of course IT LAGGED TERRIBLY. I hate this laptop.
