Samsung 860 Evo 250GB M.2 SATA SSD

$85.00

(521 reviews)

The Samsung 860 EVO is designed for demanding home users who want to improve the performance of their PC or notebook. It uses TLC-V-NAND with 64 memory layers. The Intelligent TurboWrite technology with variable SLC buffer provides higher performance over longer periods of time compared to current TurboWrite technologies. Benefit from maximum compatibility and stability: Originally designed for data center SSDs, the new MJX controller processes data faster, performs finer error corrections, and supports larger drive capacities. In terms of reliability, the 860 EVO has again been significantly improved and achieves up to 8x higher TBW values (Tera-Bytes Written) than the predecessor model. The 860 EVO is equipped with the latest hardware-based hard disk encryption engine. AES 256-bit or TCG Opal 2.0 encryption secures data without degrading performance. It is also compatible with IEEE-1667 for Microsoft's eDrive. So you can sleep peacefully because your data is protected at all times. M.2 SSDs are installed on the motherboard via the M.2 socket. With this SSD, the data is transferred with SATA-III, which makes the compact size the main advantage. Due to their compact dimensions, M.2 SSDs are particularly suitable for use in Ultrabooks and Mini-PCs, but can also be used in normal computers.

I was thrilled by this item. So tiny, so fast. Yes I was new to ssd's and this knocked me out. I used it to receive the contents of a hard drive I was cloning, and since then it's in storage, so I can't comment on it's long term performance but I can say my initial impressions are that it's flawless - and by far the best price I could find. Excellent deal.

Even better than I expected, markedly faster than my old 500gb EVO 850! The upgrade brought my trusty Specter i5 multimedia system right up into modern performance realms. I now use it to drive my large new curved monitor for viewing videos right from the comfort of my recliner in Ultra HD! All my movies now stream smoothly...

Been waiting to get this m2 for a while and so glad I did. My previous ssd was only 250gb but this is huge 1tb. Now boots up in 3 seconds. Windows operates instantly and shuts down in 2 seconds. Speeds of drive are as advertised with no compromises.A must for any comparable pc or laptop.Installed in a dell xps 13 9343 ultrabook.

It's a beast
17 December 2018

Compared to the file transferring speed that I was used to (Standard SATA HDD), this thing is insane. Windows boots in 10 seconds flat, installation was easy enough, and given the 1TB of space I figured it'd be way more expensive. Gaming performance was also boosted in games that demanded faster file transferring for graphics (Fallout 4 for instance, no more pauses after 20 steps). Highly recommended product.

Jon's review of Samsung 860 Evo 2TB M.2 SATA III SSD
13 August 2019

Pros: Very easy to fit once I got the back panel off my laptop. Very fast and I am am definitely very happy with my purchase. It’s too soon to comment on long-term reliability but it comes with a good guarantee and I trust the product. The service from Box was great too.Cons: Slightly pricey for what it is. Initially my laptop didn’t recognise the drive but I found the solution online and it was soon rectified.

Made my laptop insanely fast
29 February 2020

This SSD gave my laptop a huge speed boost! My Inspiron went from taking 3-5 minutes to boot up from shutdown to only taking 10-12 seconds. Apps open super fast now too, and all my files load up instantly. Definitely recommend upgrading if your on the fence this upgrade will literally save you SO much time in the long run.

Perfect for my needs.
25 October 2018

I have upgraded my Acer Predator Helios 300 with this and is working perfectly. I haven't tested it's full capacity yet and better be ready to install a windows 10 and update all the drivers. Also the video drivers you need to install from both Intel and NVIDIA. The rest should all come from Acer. Fast read and write speeds. I'm not into gaming much but this would be sufficient for me. Thanks again

Peter's review of Samsung 860 Evo 500GB M.2 SATA III SSD
1 January 2021

Pros: It might be more expensive than other products, but it performs better and has been totally reliable. The previous upgrade I purchased was from a different company and failed after 3 weeks. Reliability is more important than price saving.A set of "health check" tools are supplied with the drive which are good for keeping an eye on the drive.Cons: A lower price would be nice, but I am mindful of the old expression "You get what you pay for"!

Samsun all the way!
16 July 2020

I've been a loyal fan of Samsung's SSD range over the years and continue to be impressed. I purchased the 860 EVO M.2 as the operating system drive for my new PC build and am extremely happy with it. Very consistent and satisfying performance. Yes NVMe is an option but price point at the time of purchase was an influence. My games run on NVMe drives however I will switch down the track.
