Second, the bench marks were pretty close on cyrstal diskmark, but when I was actually testing 9GB file copies to and from the XPG, it was often below 600MB/s (even as low as 150MB/s steadily). It did perform better at times, but it was so spotty and nowhere near the benchmarks on a regular basis, I either got a dud or it's just not as good as the specs are in real world performance. Yeah, it was about $30 cheaper than the the new Samsung EVO PLUS 970, but in the end, the price difference was waaaaay overshadowed by the real world performance. So, when I got the 500GB Samsung EVO PLUS 970, I popped it in the same slot that the ADATA was just in and not only did it surpass the specs of the CrystalDisk Mark bench, but the real world file copies (using the same file as before), were steadily around 2000MB/s. Not as fast as the benchmark, but leaps and bounds better than the ADATA and the other PCIE NVME drives I've had the ability to test with. Also, those speeds stayed constant for the entire file copy, where most other drives fluctuate up and down. I know that even larger file copies will eventually slow down when the cache runs out, but that's the same for all PCIe NVME drives that are using TLC (or anything other than MLC flash). And, Samsung is upfront with not just the benchmark read/write performance of the drives when using TurboBoost with the cache, but also the performance speeds you can expect when the cache runs out. No other manufacturer is showing that and that shows Samsung's confidence int their drives. This drive blew me away, so much, I just ordered another one. I honestly don't think other "similar" drives are even in the ballpark on performance (The WD N750 might be the closest, but it's still not on the level of this drive in REAL-WORLD performance for file copies). If you're considering saving a few bucks on a cheaper PCIe NVME drive, I'd highly suggest you do your own large file copies and see if your "cheaper" drive really handles how it says it will based off of the superficial benchmark tests. Otherwise, save yourself the disappointment and just get the Samsung EVO PLUS to begin with and you'll be happy that you did.

Everything from booting up to opening and closing programs was lightning quick, and I no longer have to deal with the frustrating lag and slow load times that I experienced with my old SSD.In addition to the speed and performance improvements, I also love the fact that this SSD has 1TB of storage space. This means that I can store all of my important files, photos, and videos without having to worry about running out of space. Plus, the NVMe technology means that my data transfer speeds are faster than ever before, which is especially important when working with large files or transferring data to external drives.Overall, I am absolutely thrilled with my upgrade to the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB Internal SSD PCIe Gen 3 x4 NVMe, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to boost their computer's performance. And if you're considering making the upgrade, I would definitely recommend seeking out Geek Squad support - they made the process incredibly easy and stress-free!

Been using this daily since purchase. The speed is great. Reinstalling Windows 10 only takes about 5 minutes. Even for a Gen 3 this thing runs pretty fast. I don't even have a motherboard capable of the Gen 4 so that is not an issue right now. The temps hold perfectly fine even under stress with the heatsink I purchased for it. 1TB is plenty of space. I only store the Windows install and the programs I constantly run on it and the space is more than sufficient. Samsung has, and continues, to make great products. I am looking forward to when I get a board the supports the Gen 4 to get the faster speeds out of them. That time will come. I would gladly recommend the purchase of this item. Happy at first, now frustrated with unreliability.

Bought this less than a year ago and was very impressed with the performance. All of a sudden one day windows wouldn't boot up. Swapped out another hard drive and reinstalled windows on that instead. Booted it up, detects the 970 Evo 1tb in the bios, but when I go to windows there is nothing. Was able to open the drive momentarily through "this pc" but nothing could be opened or moved or changed. Tried to format and would not let me. Drive is set to read only and I cannot take it off. Samsung magician detects it and its running a scan now, getting all sorts of bad sectors. Trying to figure out how the warranty works on this because this drive should not be dead already.

Perfect storage expansion for my PS5!
27 July 2022

I've purchased two of these drives, both in the 2TB capacity, to expand our PS5 consoles. The PS5 comes with an empty storage bay that you can add your own SSD to. The requirements for this expansion drive are very specific, including that it must have a heatsink attached, and the Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVME M.2 SSD fulfills those requirements admirably. Since we installed the 2TB drives, which are twice the storage capacity of the drive that comes with the PS5, we set our consoles to install new games to the Samsung drives in the expansion slots. Every game and app we've used on this drive performs flawlessly. I highly recommend this drive to anyone who needs an M.2 SSD, but especially for anyone looking to expand the storage in their PS5.

Really good performance for its price

For $199 plus tax, I would say the 2TB Samsung 970 evo plus is really good for it's price. It's a better value than sata ssd's of the same value and price. It's a couple less cables to deal with which is nice.Arrived pretty quickly and box was in good condition, barely any scratches or scuffs. I recommend downloading the NVME driver from samsung's website as when you install the drive for the first time, it uses microsoft's nvme drivers. Downloading the samsung drivers provided a small boost to all stats as seen above.Drive runs relatively warm but not hot with my use. It idles around 45-52c and when gaming, it's between 55-65c without a heatsink on it.Gaming on it is a beast, load times are very fast and very little stuttering in games, especially compared to HDD's and Dramless ssd's. Downloads are very fast as well. One thing to note, it's been know samsung has made revisions of their 970 evo plus drives to have the elpis controller which is found on the 980 pro; that has slightly worse sustained writes when doing heavy workloads. My 2TB which has P/N MZVLB2T0HALB, has the old phoenix controller which is slightly better all round, drive was made in 2021 11 03 in Thailand.

Rock solid, of course
24 April 2023

I had a 500 gb 970 Evo Plus in my #2 PC, a PCIe Gen 3, so no need for a faster Gen 4 SSD. I wasn't able to determine why the SSD was 3/4 full, as to what programs to remove, so I bought 2 1tb drives, and cloned one over. I did the same with my lpatop, removing an addlink SSD, which had slowed down considerably. The 970 achieves ~3570/3250 max speeds and may have been just as fast in the laptop. I have two 980 Pros in my #1 PC, which are also rock solid. I use Magician to clone the drives over, and to make sure the latest firmware is installed, so as to avoid potential issues, such as the recent problem that was made public about some 980 or 990 drives failing or acting up. I got these for a great price.. I'm reminded that I had the first NVMe drive, the 950 Pro. ... MoreI had a 500 gb 970 Evo Plus in my #2 PC, a PCIe Gen 3, so no need for a faster Gen 4 SSD. Somehow, I sold it a couple years ago, for $100!!!!

Well paired with B450 boards

Given that my MSI B450 motherboard can't make use of PCIe 4.0, this was the best price to performance I could get from Microcenter. I'm really lucky to live nearby because it was even cheaper in store than ordering from Amazon or elsewhere.Speeds are super quick, games load in faster than ever for me, and everything feels snappy. A terabyte is more than enough for a boot drive, I might just wind up getting another one soon.No reliability issues so far and I was able to clone my old 250gig boot drive onto this one incredibly quickly. The whole process took maybe 10 or 15 minutes to transfer about 230 gigabytes with an intact file structure and everything. Gotta love PCIe.

my computer starts in under 10 seconds from a cold start and a restart is like 3-4 seconds. Applications open up in an instant. Processing happens in blink of an eye like 3d designing using CAD. All this was possible after switching to the 970 Evo plus SSD 1 TB. I have it installed in the NVME M2 slot and did install a heatsink with an active fan on it. A few months ago, the fan died and I was afraid of overheating. But as it turns out, the existing ventilation in my tower casing is enough with just the heatsink on the SSD. I was so impressed with this SSD, that i brought more and changed my laptops to this SSD from a 3.5 inch SSD! I have become so comfortable with my fast and crisp computer that now I get frustrated in my office as the computer there is "slow". ... Moremy computer starts in under 10 seconds from a cold start and a restart is like 3-4 seconds.
