Amazing value when purchased on special. Not perfect at all, I have what appears to look like 3 fingers had swiped the inside of the screen towards the top right out of the box, although very little "standard" dirty screen effect otherwise but since it's unfortunately distracting I may go through Samsung support for a new panel. Also there are apparently some local dimming bugs but it seems firmware updates have resolved them, at least for me. Also, even with a matching Samsung soundbar, many of the audio channels go out randomly and I have to do a "semi-hard" reset by holding the power for 5 seconds occasionally. Other than those cons, it is amazing what 1320 dimming zones over 85" can do. VERY little glow/ blooming/ flashlighting and plenty of controls to dial in the picture I want. Color volume and accuracy is excellent right out of the box, if you can just *force* yourself to get used to Movie mode with Warm 2 color (Warm 1 at the coldest) you can then crank up other settings for plenty of brightness and still get very accurate color. For only 2300 in 85", it is probably the best bang for the buck TV deal *ever*!

When considering upgrading my 9 yr old Samsung TV I truly gave all the other smart TV brands on the market a fair chance to earn my business, but in the end Samsung took the top spot and now here are the two primary reasons why Samsung is my top choice. First, Samsung's QLED technology provides some of the best color and brightness performance available on an LCD TV. Even as QLED technology has proliferated out to other manufacturers – In my opinion Samsung is still the market leader for QLED products. Samsung's leadership in QLED technology is well earned, and my Samsung QLED TV provides the best alternatives on the market to more expensive OLED TVs. While OLED delivers better performance in many respects – offering pixel-perfect lighting control and perfect blacks – the technology still commands a premium price, personally that is something I was not prepared to pay for, with that said Samsung's refinements of the technology have narrowed the gap considerably in recent years. And, it's worth noting, that when it comes to overall brightness and vibrancy of colors, my TV makes everyone's jaw drop EVERYTIME we watch a relevant scene. The second key winning point for this Samsung QLED TV is the Tizen smart TV operating system. Samsung's proprietary smart TV platform may have a funky name, but it boasts one of the most polished smart TV experiences available, from the refined interface, to the integration of smart home controls and premium features like ambient mode. My Samsung TV has also improved the voice interaction aspects, bolstering the lackluster Bixby assistant with support for Amazon Alexa and the ability to connect to Amazon and Google smart speakers. The realness of the images on the screen are still freaking my wife, after two weeks of having the TV... Everybody at home LOVES movie nights :) All in all look for the right deal that fits in your budget, and you will not be disappointed with a Samsung QLED TV. Enjoy!

I purchased this TV after many hours of online researching the pros and cons of QLED vs. OLED and for me, this model was the better choice. The reason I decided to get this model was because of all of the reviews stating this model was the best TV for watching in the daytime with a lot of window light in the room or at night with lights turned on. Most of my TV viewing is done in a lighted environment. I could not be happier with my choice! Got my TV yesterday and set it up using the default setting for picture quality which was with both Intelligent Mode and Adaptive Picture Mode ON. While the majority of review sites say to turn both of these settings off because they cause what is known as The Soap Opera Effect (picture looks TOO realistic), my family totally loved the quality and realism of being in the movie. The proper way to watch movies, so they say, is to turn off these two modes and select the Filmmaker Mode to see the movie as the makers intended, but we actually prefer them on as the detail is so incredible you can almost reach out and touch the actors. The colors are true to life and vibrant. Picture isincredibly bright, but blacks are still black. Saw absolutely NO blooming whatsoever. I got chills just watching House of Dragons Episode One where the dragon flies over Kings Landing. It was like being there riding the dragon yourselfreally hard to put into words. I attached a couple pictures, but they really dont do justice to this TV. It is something to be experienced. This is the best purchase I have made in a while and the best TV Ive EVER seen. Kudos to iElectrica for going above and beyond in customer service. It wasnt until after I ordered my TV that I found out I was out of their carriers delivery area and would have to cancel my order. But instead, they were able to get a different carrier and deliver my TV. This took a little longer, but the wait was well worth it! Thank you iElectrica for going above and beyond to get my order to me rather than cancel it and make me go somewhere else.

Initially I bought the Samsung 9-series (top of their Neo QLED 4K line) 65" QN65QN90A to replace my 15 plus year old Panasonic Plasma TV, and was beyond disappointed and preferred the picture clarity of the 15 year old plasma over the brand new Samsung, so returned it and researched further and bought a competing technology OLED and found the Samsung Neo QLED pixel bleed-over from bright pixels into dark pixels across an entire screen full of typical video picture is far more noticeable than you might initially believe. I bought the competing LG OLED C1 - immediately noticed the drastic improvement in picture quality/clarity of the LG OLED over the Samsung Neo QLED - LG OLED is what ideal HDTV picture quality is expected to be - perfect blacks unaffected by bright pixels bordering the dark pixels eliminates the slight fuzziness of the Samsung you might overlook in the showroom. The Samsung user interface is also full of programming bugs that haven't been corrected by Samsung over at least 3 separate model years. Talking with a neighbor with a low end Samsung from 3 model years prior, I found they have the exact same Samsung GUI interface glitches, bugs and poor functionality as the 2021 model year high end 9-series Neo QN90A , meaning Samsung hasn't bothered to correct and improve simple lines of programming code for over 4 years. For instance, certain Settings submenus would be randomly grayed out / disabled for no reason (including primary functions like Picture for changing Brightness/Contrast/Color Mode etc, and Broadcast for scanning over-the-air OTA HDTV channels - simply turn off the Samsung TV power and turn back on a second or 2 later and the menu option becomes enabled again. Many advanced functions deep in the nested Samsung menus would be grayed out or when selected say 'This feature not available' - leaving you unsure if it is because of the random menu disabled programming bugs or the feature really isn't available on this model (then why would it be listed in this model's menu structure, easy to hide with simple programming and model-specific 'properties' files). The Samsung program guide often defaults back to the eastern time zone even though the TV is connected to the internet, showing the wrong TV Guide time period, once you change a channel, Samsung logic then re-reads the time from whichever source (internet, OTA broadcast signal, internal TV BIOS clock) and shows the correct time and program guide time period again - there is no problem with any other computer or device connected to the internet and the router timeclock remains with the correct time while Samsung programming logic is confused. For OTA channels, you can't manually add a single channel, Samsung needs to rescan all channels which takes longer and you lose far distant channels that come in and out of signal strength. Your favorite channels also get reset by Samsung's scanning and possibly other functions. There were numerous other inexcusable Samsung glitches I've already purged from my memory. All of which my neighbor with a lower end model 3 years earlier has the same Samsung programming bugs. Do yourself a huge favor and go with OLED technology, or at minimum avoid Samsung's buggy user interface with another brand.
I have to say, I've been a Sony Bravia loyalist for quite some time. But when we needed a TV that could push out higher nits and better reflection handling, this tv was the only option that I came across - across different lines of brands, so I pulled the trigger. I've been amazed since and really am enjoying this TV. Cons: tv does have some panel issues. Vertical bars when running DSE tests. Samsung plus is pretty annoying when trying to change apps. It's an automatic default and you have to switch out of that everytime the tv turns on. Expert settings to advanced settings is not intuitive. Changing some settings blocks the screen and doesn't allow you to witness the changes in real time (I like the way Sony has their settings set up where you can see the adjustments) Motion isn't the best and can see judder when Motion is off an on. More noticable on slow pans. SOE turned on emits lots of interpolation artifacts and lots of ghosting effects. Pros: Bright image Deep blacks, letter bars Amazing color Reflection handling is great Game mode for PS5 at 120 is amazing A killer price at $1799.
I've owned this TV for 5 months now, already had it replaced once. You watch the YouTube reviews and everything looks great and to that end picture is good but there's (what I consider to be) a severe defect that nobody tells you about. (Especially if the TV has been off for a hour or more) when you turn the TV on there's often a delay of about 5-10 seconds where you absolutely can't use the remote control. The example I used to Samsung is that lets say I was watching a loud movie or some music videos during the day on high volume and I turned the TV off, now it's late night and I want to turn the TV on but if I do I'll wake my partner because for about 5s the volume would be stuck on high. No this isn't about SmartHub performance, that's another issue altogether ... MoreI've owned this TV for 5 months now, already had it replaced once. No this isn't about SmartHub performance, that's another issue altogether because as a Plex user the performance in the app is slow too but the remote control issue is way worse. I owned a Q60T, then a Q70T and in my house we also have a MU7000 and in 2019 I bought a RU7100 for my sister. I've gotten rid of the 60T and 70T but the point is that I've never experienced any of these problems on any of the TV's mentioned. In fact I've made a number of videos as evidence to show Samsung but Samsung itself has simply responded to say that the device is working within spec so what I'm seeing is normal. I'm a IT enthusiast, into PCs and gadgets and I've never built a new PC where stuff is just slower than the last one and it's a sad sad day when a manufacturer start selling sub par products. My guess is that (if enough people complain about it then) Samsung will fix this problem down the line and say 'oh look, now with better performace'...yes Samsung, thanks for fixing the problem that YOU introduced. Spread the word so that others don't have buyers remorse like I do. I'm already thinking up ways to flog this TV off in the 2nd hand market to buy something else but for now options are limited in South Africa. Gosh I wish Sony would sell us the Bravia Master range...I live in a world where tech goes FORWARD Samsung, not backward. In all my life I've never seen a TV where a remote control doesn't just work when you turn the device on. In my video evidence there was even a weird problem at first where it wasn't showing me the battery power, the problem resolved itself after a day or 2 but nobody commented on that either. PS: Samsung PLEASE fix the 'period of use' field on your site, there's 1-3 months then 6-12? What about 4 or 5 months?
Okay, I will admit this is my very first 4k TV after owning a plasma for 10 years believe it or not. Finally after being able to purchase a nicer TV financially, I have to say this is one NICE TV. I have been a huge Samsung fan and I think they make some of the best TVs out there and have been for years. I have yet to find any negatives on this tv. Exceptional picture quality and made for bright rooms for sure. hardly any glare from sunlight and reflections. Being a smart TV definitely has its perks there if you don't want to bother with a ROKU stick. I do like the fact that when you plug in all your HDMI sources even a gaming console it automatically recognizes all of them. Being a smart TV definitely has its perks there if you don't want to bother with a ROKU stick. I do like the fact that when you plug in all your HDMI sources even a gaming console it automatically recognizes all of them. The only con that I can think of honestly is the small learning curve at first of just being able to navigate from one source to another but the nice thing is that the TV will automatically switch sources/inputs from one HDMI to another when you turn on each device. say you want to go from your cable box to a DVD player, the TV will switch to the DVD player as soon as you turn it on. The only other con, and I don't really think its a con, is just trying to get the picture settings just right. I recommend looking up the best settings for this higher end Samsung, it will help. Also, depending on each source you connect to, IE. DVD, cable/sat, roku stick, etc, you have to set up the picture quality for each one separately which I highly recommend vs make it the same on each source, which you can also do too. this TV is EXTREMELY bright and displays darks pretty well but its LCD TVs aren't necessarily designed for darker rooms, plasmas have that down. now the sound quality is really pretty good for a TV I will admit. but keep in mind this is not designed for booming surround sound, you purchase a separate system for that. I HIGHLY recommend this TV. It also does VERY VERY well with a PS5 connected. a gorgeous TV!!!
This tv has one of the best pictures I have seen with incredible detail and motion with extreme contrasts and colors, which is why I am extremly dissapointed to have to take exchange it. I decided to exchange it for the Samsung 85ninch QNED 85B, which a less better tv picure wise than the 90A. The reason for my negative review and unles you plan to only watch this tv in complete darkness all the time is that it handles light of any kind in the worst manner I have seen in any tv. I am not sure exactly what exactly makes the 90A and 90B models of this tv but it really makes the tv unwatchable. After seeing this for my own eyes. The thing is that the light source is not even in friont of it. It takes light from the side and basically smears it all across the screen ... MoreThis tv has one of the best pictures I have seen with incredible detail and motion with extreme contrasts and colors, which is why I am extremly dissapointed to have to take exchange it. The thing is that the light source is not even in friont of it. It takes light from the side and basically smears it all across the screen creating a rainbow ans white smudge effect that completely ruins watching the tv. Night time scenes on movie or if it has any black areas on the tv it produces a glare so bad that all you focus on is the glare. Samsung in my opinion should redesign the panels for this tv because they are ruining a completely stunning product. I went back to check out the 85B in store and it has a semi gloss screen which does not produce the rainbow effect or light scatter that their next tier tv produces. I have that one coming and the 90A will be exchanged for that one. I can tell you that when you look a the picure of the 90A vs the 85B, the 90A has way more pop and better picture. Thar is why thos makes me so upset because I got a better deal for the 90A, but now I have to spend 300 dollars more for a next tier down model. Before even thinking about buying this tv, I recommend you look up online about the rainbow effect on this model or the 90B as well. It baffles me why Samsung would ruin this tv in this manner.
Risk purchase was SO worth it! Best Buy did not have a floor display near me and unfortunately could not see the 85" version before purchasing but was reassured by sales staff that the smaller version was a good comparison. After blue-taping the wall to make sure this was the size I needed (wanted), I took the plunge. Picture is as described by other reviewers: GORGEOUS, amazing, superb, etc. Interface is fast and relatively intuitive. Some thoughts to consider: -This thing is a beast and was glad to have had it delivered and installed by GeekSquad -If you do get the 85" be sure to request 3 people for installation if you plan to have it installed higher than maybe 4-5ft off the ground. My installer informed me on the day of delivery that the standard 2 person crew ... MoreRisk purchase was SO worth it! My installer informed me on the day of delivery that the standard 2 person crew could not install even just a few inches above their max height for safety reasons. They were gracious and rescheduled to come back with a 3rd person later in the week and I was glad to have it done right, even if I had to wait. Also, It helped to know exactly where I wanted the tv before hand. Some thoughts: -Find the right mount: I went with the Best Buy recommendation after also purchasing 2 others from Amazon that did not instill the highest confidence even though they were highly reviewed and crossed off all the requirements on paper. -Your streaming services, cable, etc. will likely not show off the true capability of this tv. If you want to test it out, watch a 4k/8k HD ultra video on the YouTube app on your new tv and be prepared to drool. -Resolution: should I have gone with the 8k? Meh - I haven't really thought about it since I purchased the tv since the picture quality is already great (and really limited by what you're viewing anyway). I am sure I would have enjoyed the 8k version when standing really close to the TV but otherwise no problem. -Glare: this was a concern for me going into the purchase because the room has several large windows that would be placed pretty much to most angles of the tv ..and yet I have never once been frustrated by any glare.
To cut directly to the problem - the moment there is movement in a scene, picture quality falls apart on this TV. Even in movie or filmmaker or game mode, the color and brightness of faces smear as they move. Bright lights dim while they are in motion then return to their original brightness once they stop. Colors in general get an off putting green tint as people or objects move across the TV. It’s particularly bad when there is a bright object moving against a dark background. On our older full array local dimming TV from another manufacturer the same images are clear with proper brightness and color in the same scenes from the same sources. The brightness of the display is wonderful! I’d recommend buying another TV, and unfortunately not a Samsung as this is apparently an issue across their newer models as well. It’s sad because still images are breathtaking on this display! If they could handle motion properly it would be just about perfect. It’s just too broken to recommend as it is now.
