First off, I'd just like to express my delight at how incredibly cheap flash memory has become in recent years. I haven't shopped for flash drives for a while and I was blown away by the prices for relatively high capacity drives!Since the drives are so large now, I placed an extra priority on the durability of the drive, the drive housing, and (especially) the USB connector. I've had cheap flash drives die on me in the past due to the port breaking. That's fine with a 512MB drive that might hold a handful of pictures or something, but I'd rather that this not happen to a 32GB drive that might hold a *lot* of important data. I'll probably use this drive an additional backup for some files that I find particularly important, in addition to using it to move files ... MoreFirst off, I'd just like to express my delight at how incredibly cheap flash memory has become in recent years. I'll probably use this drive an additional backup for some files that I find particularly important, in addition to using it to move files around when needed. I haven't used it for that long or put it through particularly tough situations, but the drive seems pretty durable so far! The body is made out of a pretty tough looking, relatively thick metal. There aren't any moving or retractable parts that might break if used improperly. The drive doesn't stick out *that* far from the device it's plugged in to, so it isn't at that much risk of having something get caught on it and breaking the port that it is using. The design is fairly attractive, too. It has a satin finish on it, though the bottom of the drive quickly began to show some wear from the retention parts of USB ports that I've inserted it in. It isn't significant and doesn't detract from the look, though.I really appreciate that the design includes a hole to to attach the device to a keychain or lanyard. I wish that a small loop of line (or something else to use to attach it to that keychain/lanyard) were included in the package, though, since those can be kind of tough to find if you don't happen to have one laying around. I'd definitely pay the extra $0.50 or whatever for that, but it isn't that big of a deal that it isn't included. It supports up to USB 3.1, which means that it can transfer data pretty quickly! A surprisingly large amount of the other flash drives that I saw in the store only supported USB 2 (and a handful supported the better, but not quite as good, USB 3.0), so it is notable that this device supports this newer, faster standard. It is backwards compatible with USB 2 and 3.0 ports and USB 3.2 ports are backwards compatible with USB 3.1 devices. I believe (but am not 100% sure) that this device will be compatible with the forthcoming USB 4.0 standard, so long as you use the proper USB-A to USB-C adapter (USB 4.0 doesn't support the USB-A connector, which has been deprecated).

Got the 128GB flash drive as a result of no longer having expandable storage on Samsung flagship phones. Basically it's pretty much perfect. Really fast transfer speeds with my phone, laptop (HP) or tablet and you just plug it in and go! Doesn't get hot like so many others I tried. It's not cheap but it's so much better than other brands I've tried (big names too) that I shan't even bother trying anything else now.. I've attached a tag to the drive which is useful for attaching it to a case / keyring etc but he cap stays on firmly so I don't have to worry about protecting it and the whole thing is really sturdy. My only minor gripe is that it doesn't fit if you're using certain cases, particularly thicker silicone ones. I have an older one that is a 32 gb. The outer edges worn through and now the top of the USB stick is peeling back. I thought it was the computers port causing the issue for it was just that one port that was tight in that one computer. Its still working and kicking. Now the new one I have is tight in all the USB ports from computer to computer is tight. I'm wondering if the first one I had was tight in the beginning as well. I recommend the product. Just remember to clean the inside of the stick from fuzzies that it collects from your pocket. I carry this thing everywhere i go. I'm a engineering tech so i use it constantly every work day transferring big files that emails don't want to eat.

Great, fast and perfect size to carry daily with your keys especially after adding a small chain to hold it apart from the other keys while its plugged into computer. Bought six of various sizes for Christmas stocking stuffier type gifts. When I got the first one about 4 months ago, it did not take long before i was wanting to wrap it up to return, based on the speed (varying between 15 to 130 mbs, a speed that bounced up and down like a basket ball ) as shown on the little window used by Windows Explorer file transfer. Then I got to thinking about how transfer/write speeds can be effected by many different file factors. If you have fairly large files that are labeled in a simple manner, a 3.1 USB connection from a Samsung Evo SSD, it really blazes at up to 325 to 400 MB/s write speed according to windows explorer transfer speed that many challenge as inaccurate. That is true about the accuracy, but I made a rough chart on transferring three GBs ito the BAR over a certain amount of time, and the result seem to be the window speed was off only a little. If you are transferring a file that has many sub folders to get to the entire file transferred, it seems to really slow down write speed. If you have many small files that are parts of a number of small folders, it gets slower. On the SSD, that also occurs on a far smaller scale (or speed) with respect to the write speed to the 1 tb Samsung EVO but I did not notice it until i started testing the BAR. Duh! and now that bugs me DUH!!Bottom line comparison: the Samsung T-5 250 GB has faster speed across the spectrum, at about 1.5 times to double the price compared to the cheaper but sturdier BAR, but you can not put a T-5 on your key ring and then there is the problem of finding the connecting cord stored somewhere, so...The winner is year is the BAR.
In a world of super-fast SSDs, the rejects seem to all end up in these drives. Can't complain as much being on the lower end (regarding speeds- especially write, though it's a decent bit better than the worst drives I've had), but being an all-metal drive this will heat up if you're filling a good chunk of it. That's not my caveat- but rather being all-metal this WILL be disruptive to wireless devices in and around your computer. Annoying for things like my laptop which only run on WiFi. 5 year warranty seems nice, but time will tell if this holds up.
This is the second sticks of this product. I purchased one for my work, the other for my wife. I am an engineer working on civil engineering and it requires reliable data device which should be sturdy and compatible for various situations like extreme weather conditions, multiple OS ,and differences types of devices. And the product fits well for the purposes. That’s why I have two items. That’s not super fancy device like a SSD but it’s more practical and provides with affordable price.
What can I say? It's built like a tank, seemingly of the finest beskar (though I've been told it's actually steel) so you'll never have to worry about the end breaking down or the chipset getting damaged if you accidentally drop it, step on it, or use it to deflect an incoming dark saber blow.Beyond that, it's hearty enough to keep your data protected from just about anything you can throw at it, from a dip in the bogs of Dagobah (waterproof for up to 72hrs in seawater), a drop from Cloud City (shockproof up to 1,500 gravitational acceleration), a long night on Hoth, be it inside an ice cave or a Tauntaun(temperature-proof -25°C to 85°C operating & -40°C to 85°C non-operating), while getting your brain scanned at the hospital for insisting on making Star Wars ... MoreWhat can I say? What's more, all this is backed by a 5-year warranty. It's fast too with a USB 3.1 (Gen 1) standard speed of 300MB/s (128GB & 256GB models) or 200MB/s (32GB & 64GB models).Long story short: It looks good. It feels good. It works great. Just buy it, you won't regret it.
I use 4 of these in rotation for weekly backups that use approximately half the drives capacity. Most of the files are on the small side - photos and documents, and there are around 40,000 files in about 5,000 folders. Usually well under 1,000 files are changed every week. I use an old, fast and very simple backup program called Karens Replicator. Because of the large number of files that need to be read and compared each week, the high read speed is appreciated. Although it is always nice to have a higher write speeds than these drives offer, my backups complete very quickly and, for my purposes, I doubt that Id notice an increased write speed. As it is, these drives are much faster than any others Ive used. I encrypt my drives with Veracrypt, which does take a modest toll in speed. The added security is well worth it, since I always keep the most recent drive on a key ring in my pocket. The very small size suits my purposes too. The metal cases on these drives are much sturdier than my older plastic drives, and the large key ring hole is convenient and wont break like the loops on my older drives have done. Some users have complained about the odd shape of the drives, but I find that the shape makes for a much better grip when pulling the otherwise tiny drives out of a USB port. And it makes for a much larger and sturdier key ring hole. To make them hang a bit more flexibly, I string two small rings together, attaching one to the drive and the other to my key ring. Nothing is perfect, and I rarely give 5 star reviews, but these are close - at least 4 1/2 stars. They could always be a little faster, and a bit cheaper. The port end provides no protection against pocket lint an dust, but the trade offs of a cap, or retraction mechanism, would spoil the sturdy simplicity of these drives. My oldest one is less than a year old, so I cant speak to longevity, but so far so good.
This is the best USB thumb drive I've found to date. It's fast, it never gets hot, and it's small enough to fit any USB socket—even on machines that have other USB connectors plugged into adjacent sockets, and even on the Apple extended keyboard, where the USB sockets are recessed on the underside of the keyboard.Operating temperature is an important consideration for me. I wanted a USB stick that I can use as a TechTool ProToGo boot drive for running diagnostics and repair on any Mac running macOS 10.13 or higher. That means the USB drive would not only be booting the computer, but also running the diagnostics and repair software. I've used this USB drive for that purpose on a MacBook Pro to run a file optimization program, and the stick never got hotter than warm to the touch. Impressive!I like the fact that the heavy-duty one-piece body of this device also forms the shell of the USB connector. The actual contacts are well protected, and there's no cover or cap to lose, and no bulky shell that usually accompanies retractable connectors. I store mine in a plastic medicine bottle, which provides all the protection needed from dirt or mishaps. With a 5-year warranty, and resistance to water, X-rays, shock, temperature, and magnetic fields, what's not to like about this great USB stick?NOTE: Like any of the recent generation USB drives, this one needs power, so if you connect to a socket that's downstream from a hub (like a keyboard that's plugged into a hub), you'll get a system prompt telling you to plug directly into the hub, or to a socket on the computer. But that's not a downside—just something to be aware of with all USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 drives of this kind.
Ok , Crystal disk mark shows 300mb only speed transfer .I transferred small and large filles did not go up from 100mb . 4 times slower than advertised on samsung web site.I believe this product is over rated and incorrect information was published . Test marks can't be a published . Also just to confirm i am IT guys there is not a problem with my pc , PC is brand new 2 weeks old and it cost 9k verry high end PC tower . So please avoid this usb and specs as also i still haven't received refund or part refund for this issue.
