It slips snugly into most tablet cases and with the keyboard case it makes the perfect companion for both business and pleasure. It slips snugly into most tablet cases and with the keyboard case it makes the perfect companion for both business and pleasure. It fits comfortably on most airplane drop down trays so you can make most of those long flight. I did find it a tad bit heavier than my tablet but it’s a small price to pay for all its convenience. I found the case/stand needed to be placed on a flat surface to use the keyboard effectively. For this reason, I would have liked to have seen an option for something like a gel skin type case to slip over the book for those times that a desk or table is not available. It is somewhat slippery and I wouldn’t want it to accidently slip out of my hands or off my lap.Attaching the keyboard case to the tablet couldn’t be easier and once securely in place, the keyboard syncs with the tablet faster than you can say “snap”. If you have ever worked with tablets and had to struggle with Bluetooth connectivity you’ll be amazed at how seamless it is. No messy wires or failed Bluetooth connections. With the built in trackpad it performs just as smooth as any laptop. With windows 10 pre-installed you can perform all you tasks with ease. From watching movies, editing photos to editing spreadsheets for work you can do it all with ease. The S-pen is comfortable in the hand and is able to draw the finest of lines. Editing photos with precision is a breeze and create masterpiece sketches with the finest of detail.Stay in touch with loved ones with the use of the built in front camera or attend business meetings from anywhere in the world. The battery really surprised me as I thought having a keyboard drawing power directly from it would mean shorter run times but not so.The only thing I would say I missed when comparing to my laptop was a USB port for flash drive document transfer. Although it does have an expandable memory slot which utilizes a micro SD card, it can be cumbersome if you have to remove it everytime you need a file transferred from one device to another. Thankfully there is other options to perform these tasks utilizing cloud storage, however, internet access is a must if you have to rely on them to help do the job.My final conclusion is if you want all the power of a laptop to perform all your day to day tasks but don’t want to pack around the bulk of one then the Samsung Galaxy Book is the answer. It enabled me to stay in touch with business training and webinars, something an android tablet wouldn’t, and complete all my duties from anywhere with ease. This is now my new go-to device for all my work and personal computer needs and I take it with me everywhere I travel.

Good entry level Windows 10 tablet

The tablet has a good size for being mobile, feels solid, made from high-end materials, metal & glass, heavier than a regular tablet, that's expected from a Windows device. It charges from 5% to 100% battery in about 3h. I immediately noticed the beautiful and vibrant colors on the AMOLED display, like in all Samsung products. A let down is the insignificant amount of memory: 64GB with 40 of them already used by Windows & pre-installed stuff, I use a lot of videos and pictures so large memory is a must! I installed a 256GB SD card to help with the issue. The keyboard attaches fast & easy plus doesn't require charging by powering from the screen, in this basic version the keys are not back lit which is a big disappointment; the keyboard has a nice rubbery finish, ... MoreThe tablet has a good size for being mobile, feels solid, made from high-end materials, metal & glass, heavier than a regular tablet, that's expected from a Windows device. The keyboard attaches fast & easy plus doesn't require charging by powering from the screen, in this basic version the keys are not back lit which is a big disappointment; the keyboard has a nice rubbery finish, keys react & feel good to the touch, it's sturdy, well made. The screen positioning is another problem, supported by the magnetic cover, it only has 2 usable angles, good for computing but not great for watching movies. Battery life for e-mail, internet & movies is 8-9 hours, good enough for a days use. The pencil is a good add-on for notes & drawing but the holder seems like an afterthought. There is no camera at the back and the one at the front is only 5MP - I can do better with my phone... Only one USB C port for peripherals, a couple more would be useful. The Galaxy Book in tablet mode is about 12, like the size of an iPad, resolution for pictures and HD movies is great, adapting automatically to external light. Even though it has only 4GB RAM (exactly like my Note 7 phone) it is fast and reacts immediately, the processor keeps it speedy. For the entry price point it is pretty great, I would spend more and get larger memory, a backlit keyboard & rear camera. I received this item at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.

Resubmitting... paragraph breaks aren't appearingWell, when I received the invitation to be considered for the Insiders campaign for the brand new Samsung Galaxy Book, I have to say I was excited... after enjoying two versions of the Galaxy Tab devices I had high hopes that I would be pleased.Wow - to say I'm impressed would be an understatement. I have really not found many points of displeasure (note to my friends at the insiders... this device is not coming back).I have been testing the 10.6” version (same size as my notepad in photo) - maybe my only disappointment, as now I wish I would have requested the larger version. I have really not found many points of displeasure (note to my friends at the insiders... this device is not coming back).I have been testing the 10.6” version (same size as my notepad in photo) - maybe my only disappointment, as now I wish I would have requested the larger version. However, with this high resolution display, speedy 2.6 GHz Dual-Core Processor, and exceptional battery life I have found that I can be productive on the type of documents I would normally need for work (spreadsheets, presentations, Word documents). The best thing is that this device is about 1/4 the weight and size of my bulky old laptop... incredible features packed into a ultra-sleek package. I found the battery life to meet my requirements - generally a solid day of use, although dependent on which applications I was running. I found the claim of 9 hours of video playback to be pretty accurate.Upon receipt I had the unit unboxed, connected to wifi and updated in about an hour - and everything just works out of the box! I'm so impressed with the Google flow between devices. The operating system is very intuitive, and my 9-year old niece was very quickly showing me how to work some of the applications (she especially loves the pen for her doodles).I'm finding the slim keyboard and mouse pad taking some getting used to, and I'm finding the magnetic stand will sometimes slip (maybe interlocking ridges would help on the next version?), but overall such an incredible design. It really seems that Samsung has hit the sweet spot and knocked it out of the park with the Galaxy Book - an exceptional touch-screen tablet experience for enjoying multimedia, getting social, or browsing the internet. Or take advantage of the S-pen functionality and the detachable keyboard to take your productivity to the next level. This device is perfect for anyone that needs all-in-one power and portability! I love it!

I found the virtual keyboard very frustrating to use and not the least bit intuitive. Other than the virtual keyboard, the device was responsive and loaded content quickly. With the keyboard attached, the device was much easier to use productively. The keyboard has excellent feel and the clickable trackpad worked much better than I originally anticipated. The keyboard/cover works well to protect the device while travelling and has 3 different viewing angles. I found the viewing angles suitable and the stand supportive while working with the device on a table or at desk. I wouldn’t recommend using this device and trying to type with it on your lap. I tried on a couple of occasions to use it on my lap during meetings, but the device was too unstable and the screen would slip down. There are only two ports on this device, a single USB-C port and a headphone jack. I found this to be a bit of a disappointment as it required me to carry around adapters to plug in peripherals. I think it would be great if Samsung could consider including this adapter as it would make the device much more useful out of the box.Battery life was good, I was able to use the device for an entire day performing light tasks such as email and editing documents without the need to plug in. This is probably a good thing, because the cord that comes with the charging adapter is quite short so I would have needed to find a location that has close and easy access to a power outlet. If your priority is a lightweight and portable device the Galaxy Book 10.6” is an excellent choice. I don’t believe this device could ever replace my laptop for daily use at work, but I think it would be a great choice for a student or someone who needs the flexibility of the Windows operating system and the size of a small tablet.

More than just a tablet
6 November 2017

I've owned tablets since the introduction of the Blackberry Playbook so I've experienced both the highs and the lows of this market. Prior to getting my hands on the Samsung Book, I was using 10 and 8-inch android varients for daily tasks. I liked them, but if I had anything more to do than browsing or reviewing documents, there were definite issues. If there was any need to do keyboard input I was stuck with bringing my laptop, so I was really hoping that the Book would be the bridge between those options. My first impressions were mixed. I liked a lot of things about the Book, but I was really concerned that there is only one USB "C" connector. This was my first C type device so I had to get a few adapter cables to allow me to use basic things like a flash drive. ... MoreI've owned tablets since the introduction of the Blackberry Playbook so I've experienced both the highs and the lows of this market. I liked a lot of things about the Book, but I was really concerned that there is only one USB "C" connector. This was my first C type device so I had to get a few adapter cables to allow me to use basic things like a flash drive. I really didn't want to go out and purchase a bunch of "C" devices, so I decided to pick up both a mini-USB to C and USB 2.0 to C converter. The mini converter would be for my headphones and the regular USB converter was for everything else. I have to say that so far, I have not found anything that will not work with the Book. I've tried a few different flash drives and a DVD drive and everything worked perfectly. My headphones worked properly too. While I'm still not thrilled about a single connector, at least the Book will work with pretty much anything that I can throw at it.Being a Windows 10 device, I've had no issues using files/documents created by my main computer or laptop. Office 365 works just fine and the speed of loading and editing is completely acceptable. Due to the smaller screen size, editing documents or browsing can be a bit challenging, but that's to be expected. Watching Netflix is great, again bearing in mind the smaller screen. One thing I was concerned about (besides the connector) was the keyboard. Because it is a bit smaller I was wondering if typists would find this to be an issue. I'm a "hunt and peck" typist, so it wasn't really a problem for me. I did like the quality of the keyboard and the feedback from the keys. I did lend it to a colleague who is a typist and she advised that once she worked with it for a few minutes, she didn't have any issues with the keyboard at all.All in all, I'm happy with the Book. It's not a true laptop replacement, but it is definitely more than your average tablet. It's going to become my daily go-to device and I'll take my laptop only for those times where a larger screen or more connectors is required.

Simply Awesome

I love this little book, and while it may be little in size (10.6), it more than makes up for it in features and power. I originally chose the galaxy book as a tool for my autistic son to help him with some of the issues these children face in schools each day, but it has quickly become a household favorite among all my kids and I included. This book is a complete package for anybody who wants to work on the fly but doesn't want a full-size device weighing them down. The folio doubles as a stand for the tablet portion turning the book into a compelling laptop replacement.Because the Galaxy Book’s keyboard lies flat, I expected the typing experience to be a bit uncomfortable. The folio doubles as a stand for the tablet portion turning the book into a compelling laptop replacement.Because the Galaxy Book’s keyboard lies flat, I expected the typing experience to be a bit uncomfortable. But, you know what? It’s perfectly fine. You certainly don’t get quite the reach you can with a keyboard with a bit of pitch, but because the board is so small to begin with, it’s not hard to reach to the key you want. The actual key press experience is fine, and there are no major omissions aside from the comically small, half-width left-shift key. There’s also no back lighting, but that’s rare on cheaper 2-in-1’s.As you can expect, windows is full of features for the everyday person ranging from office products to graphic design suites, gaming and most importantly for today's generation, streaming. The processor and graphics are more than suitable to provide a quality high definition experience across gaming and streaming platforms. The interaction with the stylus is smooth and transitions between apps are seamless. For me, the draw and sketch apps put this little machine over the top. My son, who is 6, spends hours and hours creating his favorite characters and coloring them all done with the stylus. We never experience any lag and the screen is holding up flawlessly as he is very tough on both it and the stylus. After a full month of use there are no visible signs of wear and tear on any part of the machine, and that includes more than a dozen trips to the floor from him dropping it. This machine will definitely stand the test of time. This is exactly why I wanted to try this machine, to see if it could stand up to the rigors of a small child, yet be capable to provide an easy environment for learning. He is now showing me how to use this machine!! We are able to safely use the parental controls and monitor all his activity online, which is another wonderful windows feature.Overall, this device has been the best one to land in our household to date. We have gone through laptops, iPads, and a couple of cheaper kids machines but none of them have made it more than two months. Visually the screen is stunning; the performance is on par with higher end laptops. Durability is second to none. Thanks Samsung, you did it again.

The S Pen, an pressure sensitive stylus, is a great accessories that I am glad Samsung decided to include. I enjoy using it to take notes and do quick design sketches with. The stylus is kept secure by a tab that is attached the keyboard, which does seem like an afterthought on the design, but it does it job and keep the stylus secure. The Galaxy Book 10.6 come with the latest Intel Core m3 Processor, 4GB Ram, 64GB of storage and with Full HD screen at 1920 x 1280. Running on Window 10 Home, it is great unit for everyday task, note taking, office work, web browsing, video chat, and movie streaming. I do find it a little underpowered for video editing, or any multimedia software editing/designing but that what the big brother Galaxy Book 12 that come with an Intel Core i5 Processor and beautiful 2160 x 1440 Super AMOLED display is for. For ultra-portability and everyday use this 10.6 can't be beat. Other features that the Galaxy Book 10.6 has is latest USB Type-C connection, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.1, Stereo headphone jack, GPS, Dual Speakers, a 5MP front camera and fast charging technology.

Wow it's like Christmas
18 September 2017

Opening the black box of the Samsung Galaxy Book 10.6 is like a bit of Christmas in July. The layout is great. Everything you need is included, Tablet, keyboard, pen and charger. The look and style of Samsung tablet is like all other premium products they offer. Packed with 7th Gen Intel® Core™ m3 processor the Galaxy Book has good performance for all you want to do. The battery life is exceptional allowing you to power through up to 9 hours of incredible video watching or just a busy day of work, school or life on the go. I found this to be very close. You get under the hood a plethora of connectivity options from WIFI 2.4 and 5Ghz to bluetooth with A2DP amongst others. You get under the hood a plethora of connectivity options from WIFI 2.4 and 5Ghz to bluetooth with A2DP amongst others. The added NFC connection on the included keyboard allows for seamless connectivity to your Samsung phone where you can share files and stay connected to your notifications without interruption. Topping off the complete package of keyboard and pen make this tablet one of the best solutions so far. The S Pen gives you the feel of writing on paper like I have never felt in a tablet pen combination to date. The best gift of a package like this is how it all rolls up for a person that wants to be on the go. You have features like fast charging with the included small USB C charger. This will also double as your phone charger if you have USB C connection. With all the abilities of Windows home and the beautiful look and presentation of Samsung you just can’t go wrong with this tablet. If you are a power user and looking for video editing etc, there are more powerful options from Samsung and I would check these out. I have tried all manner of work on this tablet and I can tell you that it does it all. The power apps such as Adobe will take you a while to use but if you need it in a pinch you can do it. My opinion of the Samsung Galaxy Book 10 is that for the 98% of us in the world of tech that need or want a great tablet computer you should be looking at the Galaxy Book. The size, weight, performance and complete package just can’t be beat for the right person. The price is extremely competitive since you get it all. There is nothing else to buy so the choice is simple. Like I said it's a bit of Christmas in a black box.

Pros:1. The keyboard case that comes with the device as part o the deal2. The pen feature which made using sassing notes quite easy and entertaining3. The overall feel of the device. Not too bid, not too small4. The windows operating system on a Samsung experience was quite interesting with its own disadvantages5 The pencil feature s rally cool for those that love art stuff. There are many free drawing apps aside the already installed one for you to try.Cons:1. I would have been good if the 10" had two type-C ports like the 12" does. That way it would have been easier to charge the device on 1 port while projecting a presentation on the other.2. If you are going to use cloud services like Dropbox and one drive on the device, then you have to invest quite a bit of money to purchase larger SSD capacity devices.3. I am fan of android apps, so it was quite a challenge for me to like how Microsoft apps are handled. Also, some appestat I found on the Android platform could not be found on the Microsoft store.4. As with most Samsung devices, you need 100 brightness to use the device outside on a sunny day, which does not help much n the way of battery life. All in all, the product is great. I returned the 10", and got the 12" instead; it was worth the additional effort, not so much the extra cost. I greatly regret the fact that I could not get more acquainted with the device, since it was stolen 5 months after I purchased it.
