I am quite impressed with these earbuds; my initial impressions began with the packaging. Samsung, like Sony and some other companies, is moving towards sustainable packaging and there is little if any plastic utilized here. Clever use of various paper and cardboard-based materials is used to secure the earbuds, case, USB C cord, and ear tips inside of the box. Continued impressions were when I opened the earbuds case, placed the earbuds in, and found that active noise canceling (ANC) immediately began and that, with the case open, it was already querying for a Bluetooth connection. This made connecting my iPhone a cinch. They also have the Galaxy connect feature where they can connect to compatible Galaxy devices with just opening the earbuds case. The audio experience with these earbuds is excellent and is on par with many others I have tried including my Apple Airpod Pro’s and LG FP9’s. As a matter of face, the bass presence and detail here may surpass the others entirely. An additionally impressive aspect of these earbuds is their ability to block wind noise. I went for a bike ride on a very windy evening and with these headphones on transparency mode for safety, I found that these headphones blocked out the wind admirably well to the point where I could hear my audio with no problem. With the additional assurance from Samsung that these are IPX7 water-resistant, I feel that these would be a great choice for athletes or outdoors-oriented audiophiles. The controls on the earbuds themselves are intuitive and easy to use. The only trouble is that I find that like other earbuds that lack controls on a stem, I often find myself inadvertently performing actions with the earbuds like pausing my music when I pressed the bud to adjust it back into my ear canal. The earbuds do have an excellent fit, but every earbud requires adjustment once in a while, especially while in the middle of activities. If you are not an Apple ecosystem devotee, these are very good earbuds to consider. They have a strong, simple to set up Bluetooth connection and just sound absolutely excellent. Additionally, their battery life is going to attract many users to them over some of the competition’s offerings. Altogether, I have no issue recommending these to anyone seeking not only an excellent, refined audio experience, but one that is really made to excel with Galaxy devices.

Galaxy Buds 2 Pro is a winner in the world of true wireless ear buds. It’s smaller and lighter than the previous generation of galaxy buds pro. The design is attractive and not boring looking. Most importantly, they are quite comfortable to wear so you can spend hours using them. Of course, fitting may vary from one person to another, but they should fit pretty well so you can take them for some running. The buds also got some water-proof rating, so using them when raining shouldn’t be a problem. In terms of features, these buds offer a lot and sits at the top end of true wireless ear buds. The buds offer ANC, which work quite well as long as they fit in your ears pretty nicely. Call quality when ANC on is ok. The buds offer ANC, which work quite well as long as they fit in your ears pretty nicely. Call quality when ANC on is ok. The buds also offer ambient mode so you can be aware more of your surroundings. The case can be charged wirelessly, and you can even wirelessly charge these directly from supported galaxy phone. There’s also 360 spatial audio mode with head tracking that simulates audio in 360 degrees environment, however, this feature is a bit more gimmicky than something you would enjoy immensely. You can control some of the features of the buds from your android phone. Battery is rated to last up to 5 hours with ANC on and up to 8 hours with ANC off, which basically is what you’d be getting with other high-end earbuds. Now on to the sound quality, which I think is the most important selling point of these ear buds. They sound excellent. The sound signature is designed by AKG, which is one of the biggest brands in the world of audio equipment. They should not disappoint, well perhaps unless you’re an audiophile that prefers specific sound signature. I personally prefer to use over ear headphone when I’m listening to music extensively, however, these buds’ audio quality can compete with other high end ear buds from any major brand. Samsung even made 24-bit audio transmission possible when paired with supported galaxy phone and using appropriate app. I’m using galaxy Z fold 3 and I’m already pretty impressed of how the phone handles the codec. There is no way to verify that the 24 bit audio is working, however, when it works the sound quality should sound a bit better. Personally, even without the 24-bit audio capabilities say that you are pairing these buds with your iPad, these buds should still sound great. So, with the excellent audio quality and many features they offer, these buds deserve to be your daily driver.

These true wireless buds are some of the best sounding buds on the market and getting somewhat close to wired offerings. The tuning on these is nearly perfect, just has some minor diminishing treble quality. Hopefully the successor to these buds keeps the similar tuning with improved treble and overall better response quality. Really like that these come with improved audio codecs and hopefully we can get to one rivaling LDAC across the board. One feature I would hope pro models eventually get is the ability to custom EQ rather than just the presets. As for other parts of the buds, these improvements I assume will come naturally. Battery life is somewhat below standard other ANC capable buds. The ANC is fine overall, similar to industry standards and will continue ... MoreThese true wireless buds are some of the best sounding buds on the market and getting somewhat close to wired offerings. The call quality seems to have improved a lot and hopefully they keep improving. The microphone call quality could use some improvements in noisier environments for sure. The fit and comfort is very good overall and just requires some small adjustments to tip replacements. Replacing the tips feel cumbersome but just minor nitpicks. Touch controls work fine but they can be improved in sensitivity and overall functionality. Overall, these are probably the best TWS buds to get for sound currently. Price wise it isn't as competitive as AKG N400s or especially the Free2 classics. However, while those products are competitive in sound and price especially, they fall short to the Buds2 Pro in the other areas like the ANC and microphone. I would even recommend these over the Air pods lineup for iPhone users if they were willing to give up on the ecosystem features for sound. Of course, these are a no brainer for Samsung users.

Evolution of my favorite wireless earbud!
1 September 2022

TLDR - This is a great evolution of my favorite wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds Pro. The sound and noise cancellation is improved, the buds fit much better than the previous generation and I love the new matte finish on the case and buds. My only complaint is the touch targets seem slightly smaller than the prior version, so I have to re-train my muscle memory. Get them if you're looking for a great wireless earbud, and have a Samsung device. iPhone and non-samsung devices, look elsewhere as the features you'll lose will not make this a great value compared to similar earbuds from Jabra or Apple. I have used the Galaxy Buds2 Pro (I'll refer to them as the Pro 2) for about a week. I also have a Galaxy Buds Pro ("Pro 1") and Galaxy Buds Live earbuds that I use interchangeably at both work and home, so I think I have a pretty good basis for comparison against those devices. Positives: Samsung really improved the comfort, sound quality and ANC in the Pro 2 vs. the Pro 1. The Pro 2s are much easier to fit in my ears (I use the medium size tips) because the shape is slightly smaller and oval compared to the rounder and thicker Pro 1. Fit and comfort is highly subjectiver however, since everyone's ears are different. The ANC and ambient noise quality and function are improved over the Pro 1. I use these and the Pro 1s in an office environment and the Pro 2 are definitely stronger ANC compared to the Pro 1. The ambient listening sound quality is slightly better on the Pro 2, but the feature itself works the same as the Pro 1. Negatives: The Pro 2s are slightly smaller than the Pro 1, so the touch targets are slightly smaller as well and have shifted slightly so I'm experiencing quite a few missed touches and wrong commands while my muscle memory is re-learned. The Pro 2s still don't have true multipoint capability, and the auto switch function between Samsung devices sometimes switched to my tablet when I didn't want it to. The IP67 rating carries forward from the Pro 1s without changes. I've used these in the shower a few times (same as the Pro 1) and they work fine, as long as you remember to turn off the touch controls to avoid accidental activation from water splashes. Since samsung didn't really add new features, the Pro 1s are still a great product and probably a better value now, assuming the price will drop to clear out remaining inventory. Overall, these are a great

Great, but for Galaxy phones only

I was really excited to get these after reading how great the last generation was and the improvements made to them this year. Unfortunately, I have an iPhone 13, not a Galaxy phone. And Samsung has discontinued support for the Galaxy app on the app store, so these essentially just become a nice pair of bluetooth earbuds without any of the functionality provided if you pair them with a Galaxy phone. I'm not sure how they would do with a Pixel or other Android phone, but at this point I'm assuming Samsung wants you locked into their ecosystem to get the full benefits. And don't get me wrong, I know Apple does this with the AirPods, which are functional but ugly in their current design. Google has started doing this with the Pixel Buds as well, so it's just the way it is and it's getting annoying for consumers. I would much rather have these over airpods, but Samsung has decided they don't want anyone with a phone that isn't theirs. I'm sure it's easier from a programming standpoint but it seems like you're cutting out a big piece of the market. These sound good, but I can't adjust the settings so they might sound better if you have a Galaxy to make use of the 24-bit high-fi capability. You can toggle the ANC by touching the earpod directly, and the ANC is good but I don't have access to the Intelligent Conversation Mode which would be awesome. Enhanced 360 audio also doesn't work without a Galaxy phone, nor does the multi-point bluetooth. Look, these are super comfortable for all day wearing, have a great battery life and bluetooth range along with water resistance of IPX7. They have basic ANC you can toggle on and off manually and sound decent. If you have a Galaxy smartphone, these are the buds for you. If you have any other phone, you need to understand the limitations before spending the money. Likewise with the other manufacturers that only give you the full experience within their own ecosystem. That's why I give these 3 stars, because Samsung gave up on the app and the price isn't justified unless you have the right phone. I wanted to love these, but they're going to be my lawn mowing/workout buds and I'm going to stick with my Bose QC earbuds for travel/calls/etc because there are no restrictions on them regardless of the phone, computer or tablet I pair them with.

Great, comfortable set of true wireless earbuds!
1 September 2022

So, I'm sure everyone has their favorite brand & model (with their favorite features) when it comes to true wireless earbuds. I definitely do! My favorite set from a well-known audio device brand has been great for me for the past 2.5 years. I use them daily, mainly for online meetings/calls for work (as I work from home and am on a lot of meetings) but will also listen to music. I've tried several others (even within the same brand), but none have come close to matching everything I like about them. Samsung is actually another favorite brand of mine, but the only audio devices I've ever gotten were HM3500 Bluetooth headsets (which also had a plug-in to nicely turn it into "wireless" stereo earbuds), of which my last ones are still working 11 years later. So, with them coming out with the new Galaxy Buds2 Pro, with an updated design compared to the previous model, I decided to see if these could overcome my high expectations for true wireless earbuds and change my mind for my earbud favorite brand. While I do have an Android phone, it is not a Samsung (but I will probably eventually get one as my brand, which has been my favorite for the past 9 years, no longer manufactures mobile phones). That being said, after installing the Galaxy Wearable app, connecting to the Galaxy Buds2 Pro was very easy! It did prompt to install the Galaxy Buds2 Pro Manager plugin, which was quick enough. Through the Wearable app, every configurable item is available. Well, I say that, but there are some items that are only available when connecting to a Samsung device. Those features, such as 360 Sound, I was able to still try out, after connecting to Galaxy Tab 5se tablet. But more on the app/configurations later. When needing to change which device to connect to, just going into the Wearable app on the target device and tapping Connect, and it handles the disconnect from the other device and connecting to the target one all at once. I like being able to do this whereas on all others, I basically need to turn off Bluetooth on the one it is currently connected to, go into Bluetooth settings on the target, and start the connection. One thing I really would have preferred with these would be to have multipoint/A2DP connections, so I can have them actively connect to two devices at the same time (like I do with my other earbuds, where they are always connected to my work laptop and tablet so I can use either for my meetings). I'm hoping they add that in a later firmware update. I still connected them to and tried them out with just about every device I use, from my home computer to my new Galaxy Watch5 Pro. The Buds2 Pro have a little refreshed design, opting for not completely curved in every aspect. Overall, they have a lower profile while wearing, but only slightly lower than my other earbuds. The outside is still fully curved, but the top part that fits along the ear is like a little flat plateau. I imagine this allows them to be removed a little easier than before. However, I still find them somewhat more difficult to remove with the rounded outside design. I have to kind of "dig" them out from the top. While not extremely horrible, not exactly what I prefer (my other have a design to make it easier to grab on the outside portion to remove them). There still are no physical buttons, just touch/tap/hold on the touchpad on the outside curve. Single tap on either will play/pause (or answer a phone call), double tap will go to next track (or decline a phone call). Triple tap will go to the previous track. And by default, long-press will cycle between ANC on and Ambient sound. The long-press can also be configured to control volume (up for right, down for left), start Bixby, or start Spotify. If desired, any of the tap or hold actions can be disabled in the Wearable app. So far, once I put them in, they will stay in. Surprisingly, the initial ear gels worked fine for me (I will usually need to change the right one to get a good fit). They also really don't need readjusting while wearing them (which is good, because it is almost guaranteed that the touch pad will get activated). That is unusual for me as well, since almost any other earbud I've tried eventually starts coming out and I need to push it back into place (even my favorite ones, although not as often as the rest). This was officially, fully confirmed when I was wearing them during yardwork and didn't have to keep pushing them back into place every few minutes (never even touched them). Also, after a few days of extended wear, I can say that they stay comfortable. The audio qualities are great! After playing around with the different equalizer settings, the sound is very good!! If has very rich bass (on the "Bass boost" equalizer setting, which doesn’t set the bass as high as I normally have it, but it still sounds good). All my music I listened to sounded great. In fact, there have been several subtle music patterns in a few songs that I had never heard before that I was able to discern with these. Another good equalizer setting for music is "Dynamic" (if wanting a tad bit more treble). I would have liked for a customizable equalizer, but I guess either of those other two will do for me. I also found that the sound (and bass) is still very rich at lower volumes (I am trying to not have the volume up as loud as much as possible nowadays to try to protect my hearing). The Active Noise Canceling is probably the best I've experienced, although it does seem to have slight issues with filtering out higher pitched sounds/higher frequency. While it does seem to block out probably 98-99% of the sounds, but you will still hear a light click or clank (such as a yard trimmer line hitting something hollow). While doing yardwork, I could barely hear my lawnmower (it is battery operated, but it still isn't extremely quiet). One nice feature is that if one of the earbuds is taken out, it turns off ANC in the remaining earbud. The only sound issue I've come across so far is in a couple of web conference calls, I kept hearing light "pops" every once in a while some people where speaking, and the volume was not turned up very much then. A feature in the app that compliments the ANC is Voice Detect. When turned on, if it detects your voice (or someone else's that is loud enough), it will turn on Ambient mode to let the outside sound come through. This will allow you to have conversation without taking out an earbud. This feature turns off after 10 seconds of no talking. For the 360 Sound feature (mentioned earlier, and only available in the Wearable when connected to a Samsung device), it is kind of a cool idea. With head-following turned on, it feels like I'm listening to speakers. When turning my head, it redirects the sound to the ear closest to the device. It's a nice idea to play around with, but kind of defeats the purpose of wearing earbuds. The battery life is pretty good. There is a range of available power, depending on if ANC is turned on or not. When I had the chance to wear them for a while, I got about 4 hours of active use, with 1 hour of them sitting on my desk while I had stepped away (didn’t want to put them back on the charger yet), so about 5 hours total. I haven't had a chance to try for a long day with them without ANC turned on but expect another 3 hours or so. The clamshell charging case is fairly small (a 2" square and is 1" tall). It does have a magnetic closure. Like most devices, it uses a USB-C port for charging. It does come with a USB-C to USB-C cable, so you'll need a new charging block with a USB-C connection (instead of the bigger original USB-A). Alternatively, it can be charged on a wireless charger. The case will provide another 21-22 hours or so worth of earbud power (with ANC turned off). I haven't timed it yet on how long it takes to recharge the earbuds back to 100%. The Find My Earbuds feature in the Wearable seems to work a little different depending on if it is Samsung Devices or not as well. For my non-Samsung phone, it just offers to make the earbuds produce a sound to find them (which is a nice feature by itself). On my Samsung tablet, it brings you the Find feature in SmartThings app (which will require the installation of the Find, and will show the last known location on a map (my phone has the SmartThings app as well, but didn't offer this feature). So, has the Galaxy Buds2 Pro changed my mind? For comfort, they are just a little bit better. For the profile, they are both similar, but my other ones are easier to get out of the case and my ears, but the Buds2 will stay in place better. Sound quality is about the same. Overall Battery life (earbuds plus charging case) is about the same. The connectivity points are split, with ease of changing between connected devices going to the Buds2, but multipoint/A2DP goes to my other one (which is very important to me). In the end, well, we can have more than one favorite, right? I will probably be using the Buds2 when I am not working and just listing to music (when I'm working around the house, exercising, or doing yardwork), but my others will have to remain my daily use ones while working since I am always switching between my tablet and work laptop (at least, until/if I get lucky and they multipoint/A2DP gets added to the Bud2).

Ignorance is Bliss, Enlightenment is Beautiful

The first thing that I will ask is "where have you been all my life?" I purchased a pair of Buds pro 2 and picked them up yesterday, but first, let me give you a little background. I have been listening to music my entire life being weened on Motown, graduating to Funk, and in the late 70s I have been an avid heavy metal fan. I am not talking a casual listener. Last year alone I logged 19, 063 scrobbles on Last.fm. So you can imagine that I have used dozens of headphones over the years and enjoyed the music that I am so passionate about which would eventually led me to this purchase. I was hoping for better sound quality but was not holding my breath, getting my hopes too high. As it turns out, I never expected the quality of sound that the Buds Pro 2 put out and was blown away by the initial experience. With these earbuds you have the option to listen to whatever medium that you might want to listen to in 360 mode. As soon as I turned this on I was instantly immersed in the music with a sound quality that I personally never experienced, but then came 360 mode with head tracking and that was truly a dimension of music listening that I did not think possible. It is difficult to describe, but when you turn your head the vocals or other instruments would move with your head giving the sensation of not just listening to the music but becoming part of it as well. Whether this type of technology has been around for a while or not it was extremely new to me and a wonderful experience at that. I have seen unsatisfactory reviews and I understand that we each experience things differently and are entitled to our own opinions, but these were worth every penny and them some once added to my various listening devices that instantly catapulted themselves to the top of the best list.

Improved performance and few new features!
30 August 2022

I own several Samsung ecosystem devices and different generation phones, watches, and earbuds. I was super excited to try the new Galaxy Buds2 Pro and test the new features they have on the Buds2 Pro. I am excited with Earbuds2 Pro design which has a matte finish and is not a fingerprint magnet. My primary use is for outdoor activities and especially for my weekend endurance runs that can last 4+ hours and can resist sweat. I had bad experiences with several other brand earbuds that accidentally turned-on features and had muffled audio when the ear buds were wet from sweat. I don't have a problem with Buds2 Pro or the Pro with sweat. I finally settled with Samsung earbuds for outdoor activities, and Buds2 Pro only makes it better. I don't have a problem with Buds2 Pro or the Pro with sweat. I finally settled with Samsung earbuds for outdoor activities, and Buds2 Pro only makes it better. Design • Buds2 Pro are a little smaller and a bit lighter than the previous gen earbuds and a perfect fit, and so much more conformable than the pro. I used it on a 5-mile run and didn't have to touch/adjust it for the entire run. Everyone has a different fit and I like the smaller buds that stay put in the ear. I tried the Samsung buds live when they were initially out, they were too big and hurt my ear after prolong use. Samsung buds were a perfect fit and Buds2 are even better on the fit for all day use. I also tried the wing tip on the previous models to keep them secured in my ear during workouts. The Buds2 Prod doesn't have that feature, but the smaller design makes up for it with a good fit. Comes in black, white, and purple matte finish. The Buds2 case has the same design as the previous gen. • It has 4 microphones (2 outer, one inner, and one for voice pickup) unlike the previous models that have 3 (2 dual mic + mic in the mesh chamber). This new configuration not only adds to the audio quality but also has a better performance on ANC feature. Performance, features, and Battery Life • Paring was a breeze, with my Galaxy fold3 autodetecting the earbuds right out the box! Finally, Samsung caught up with the "fruit company" on the autodetect feature. The good part is I can switch my ear buds between my phone, watch, tablet, and Samsung TV. Samsung's smart things also shows the last known location of my Bus2 Pro, nothing new or enhancements on this feature. • No significant improvement on battery life. Spec says 7.5 hours with ANC off, 5 hours. with ANC on, and 29 hours if you include battery life in the case. I used it for four straight hrs. with ANC on and it still had 50% battery life left in it. • IPX7 rated, so I can even wear these while I am out in the wet weather. Rated for protection up to 30 mins when in three feet deep water. • Coming to Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature, there is quite a bit of improvement (with the additional mic?) compared to the Pro. I had it on the plane and switched between different earbuds (different brands), just to test the ANC quality and happy with Buds2 Pro performance. • The App is packed with features, controls, and settings to tune your earbuds to match your needs, and even more if you are a Galaxy labs user. I like the "360 audio" setting that I use the most. I found a new feature that you can turn on and calibrate - neck stretch reminder that reminds you to stretch your neck if you are staring down at your phone/laptop for more than 10 mins. Guessing, they have an accelerometer in the earbuds that detects the head position. • With Bluetooth 5.3 the connectivity is lot better, and I noticed the connectivity range is a bit higher as well. The touch controls are great and very responsive with customizable tap gestures like the previous gen models including wear detection, auto-pause when both ear buds are removed from your ears, etc. It has support for google and Bixby voice commands. The best part is the earbuds doesn't direct the calls to earbuds unless they are in my ears, so I don't have to scramble around trying to find my earbuds (when not in the case) when I receive a call - good thinking Samsung! • Coming the sound quality, it picks the lows, the mids and the highs fairly good. I noticed the sound is fuller, louder, richer, and more lively when using the buds with my galaxy fold3 phone when compared to non-Samsung tablet, guessing the codecs on the phone complement the earbuds in enhancing the audio experience, so non-Samsung phone users might not get the full experience with these earbuds. Highs are more noticeable when you turn on the Bass Boost or the Dynamic which adds a punch to the low end. I use the clear setting for my audible books as it enhances the vocal presence for eBooks/podcasts. Overall, I love the fit, the enhanced features with better audio performance, and the ANC feature on the Buds2 Pro compared to previous gen buds. Guessing, most of the features are designed to work with Samsung phones. Non-Samsung phone users might be able use it with galaxy wearable app but will miss out on the smart features that are exclusive to Samsung phones. Best Samsung buds by far and worth the upgrade!

They stay in my ear and SOUND GREAT with an unlimited number of customized equalizers that are saved under my Jaybird account and show on every device I have, tablet, phone, etc. The Vista 1 doesn't have ANC and the ANC on the Vista 2 isn't the best, so I set out to find an updated set of buds (a new toy) that match the best attributes of the Jaybirds, with better ANC. I tried all of the newest, latest and greatest with only the Active Jabra 7 Pro meeting the qualifications, then it occured to me that it's been a couple of years since I used Samsung buds, so I bought these today and after only a few minutes with them I WAS BLOWN AWAY!! They sounded good, but for a $230 set of earbuds (on sale for $199) NOT to have a customizable EQ but only offered 6 PRESETS was UNBELIEVABLE to me !! Even the inexpensive earbuds I buy for my grandkids have the ability to change the EQ settings. (I know that Android has an EQ but we all know that it doesn't work well as it lowers the volume when used.) WOW !! I can't believe that Samsung made such a great high-tech set of earbuds and then left out one of the most basic features that all earbuds, earphones, TVs and audio devices usually have, a customizable equalizer !! I'm still scratching my head over that HUGE omission.

Samsung - Galaxy Buds2 Pro True Wireless Earbuds

Also you can choose between noise cancellation, ambient sound, or both, so if someone is nearby trying to get your attention, they can automatically switch from noise cancellation so you can physically hear them. You can answer and end calls at the touch of the Bud, and the case not only is rechargable and waterproof as are the Buds, but will also charge your Buds when you place them in there. You can also use an equalizer to tone your favourite sounds to your music, and can also skip tracks, pause, or replay them by simply touching the Buds - just the same as answering phone calls. You can even set them to automatically end the call if no voice is heard after 5, 10, or 15 seconds. The battery life for both the Buds and Case lasts extremely long, and can be monitored as well within the app. They also come with a three year warranty if they are new- you just have to register them with Samsung on your account. Five stars hands down the best wireless earbuds I've ever owned! They are a bit more expensive, but you get the quality you pay for. They also have wireless charging capability, equalizers, neck stretch reminders, and so much more. I would also recommend keeping your ears clean since these Buds fit directly in your ears by way of silicone fittings. They come with several sizes of fittings for the perfect fit, and are very easy to change. I also would recommended getting an extra protective case to give them a bit of more protection. It's worth it. Wait until you hear, see, and feel the quality of these Buds and you'll never want any others.
