From there it becomes less impressive. The additional size and weight started hurting my hand in less than a day of use, especially after I put a case on it.The camera is fast, zooms smoothly in photo and video modes, but the image quality is at most 10-15% better than the S21 Ultra, and the in-between Zoom modes (like 2x) for photos are borderline unusable (which they may fix with an update).I never used the 108 MB camera feature the S21 came with but I wanted to see what the new 200 megapixel camera can do on the S23. While the photos exhibit great detail I quickly realized that the 512 GB version would still not be enough even if I don't use the 200 megapixel camera regularly, I'd be running into the same problem in less than 2 years that I had with my S21 Ultra. Oh how I miss the days of putting in whatever size micro SD card I want, and the ease of backing up those files off the phone when needed. The S23 ultra comes with the S Pen which I thought was a cool feature and I got some use out of it, however you can also get an S Pen with the S21 Ultra and just use a case that can hold the pen which I'm currently doing (although it doesn’t offer the auto select subject feature the S23 does). The battery life on the S23 Ultra is absolutely amazing, it can get through a whole day no problem even for a power user. The fast charging is exceptional over the S21 Ultra as well. All of this being said I still considered keeping the S23 ultra even after accepting that I paid $1,400 for a phone that is only marginally better than the current phone I had (and also has less ram), but the nail in the coffin was when I went to use the 3x zoom on the camera and there was already a dust spot in the lens. I immediately began the return process.Ultimately I feel these phones are getting too big and heavy, and to the point of diminishing returns so the cost for what you're getting is not worth it. I can live without a removable battery pack but I don't subscribe to this notion that in order to get twice as much memory you have to spend $300+ more when a micro SD card of the same size would be a quarter of the cost. BRING BACK MICRO SD CARD SLOTS!

The phone's inability to pass the Google Play Safety Check has prevented me from using essential applications such as Outlook, severely hampering my productivity. As a professional who relies heavily on Outlook for managing work emails, calendar appointments, and contacts, I expected the Samsung S23 to seamlessly integrate with this widely-used application. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. Despite multiple attempts to install Outlook from the Google Play Store, the Safety Check consistently flags the application as non-compliant, rendering it inaccessible on my device. This limitation has been incredibly frustrating, as it hinders my ability to stay organized and communicate effectively for work-related tasks. I have made numerous efforts to troubleshoot the issue, including clearing cache, updating the device firmware, and even contacting both Samsung's customer support and Google's support channels. Regrettably, their suggestions and recommendations have proven futile in resolving the problem. As a consumer, I believe that a flagship smartphone like the Samsung S23 should be fully compatible with essential applications such as Outlook. The inability to pass the Google Play Safety Check is a significant drawback, and it raises concerns about the device's overall performance and adherence to industry standards. While the Samsung S23 boasts impressive hardware specifications and features, the exclusion of important applications due to the Safety Check failure is a major letdown. It leaves users like myself in a position where we are unable to fully utilize our devices for work-related purposes, ultimately hindering our productivity and efficiency.I would urge Samsung to address this issue promptly and provide a suitable resolution to affected customers. It is crucial that they work closely with Google to ensure compatibility with popular applications, particularly those widely used for professional purposes. In conclusion, I regretfully cannot recommend the Samsung S23 due to its failure to pass the Google Play Safety Check, thus preventing the use of essential applications like Outlook. As a professional seeking a reliable smartphone for work-related tasks, this limitation has been a significant disappointment. Potential buyers should be aware of this setback and consider their specific needs and requirements before making a purchase decision. Please note that this review is based on my personal experience and perspective. Other users may have different experiences with the Samsung S23, and I encourage individuals to conduct thorough research and consider their own preferences before making a purchasing decision.
