I am so happy I've got the S24 as an upgrade from my good old S10. I like that the power button is a bit lower, so it is easier to press it while holding the phone, even if it will take some time to get used to it and will keep pressing the volume instead. The shape of S24 doesn't feel much different from S10 when I hold it in my hand, but everything runs more smooth and faster.Super fast charging and I am so glad I purchased the charger with it, as it doesn't come with one anymore (not so great). The battery life seems pretty good so far, I finally have a phone that I can use the whole day without charging it three times. Now it looks like I can finally return their favour.I love the AI option that removes things from your pictures. I have a toddler and I usually take hundreds of pictures at playgroups but can't really use them because of other kids around, so I will definitely be using this feature very often. The flash is very nice and the quality of pictures is very good even when it is completely dark. I am still discovering all the hidden gems this camera has to offer.Sound quality is very good, really noticed the difference when on call.I wanted to try the Interpreter function, but Romanian language wasn't available, so didn't use it yet. It seems like a pretty useful feature if you can find the language that you need. For example, when you're on holiday and don't know the language or if your relatives don't speak English.DeX is something new to me, looks like it is very easy to share your phone screen on TV, without having to install other apps. Also you get these free apps on the phone that allow you to watch free tv programmes and movies/series, which is great.I don't really like the way to take a screenshot (volume down and power button simultaneously or palm swipe the screen). Perhaps I just need to get used to this. On the other hand, I found very useful the tips that pop up to let you know about the options you have when you might not have been aware of them. All the Advanced Intelligence on S24 is still new and will take time to get used to it, but it's really exciting to get to try all these features, like the translations, correcting or sumarrizing your texts in Notes, getting transcriptions or translations of your voice recordings plus all the amazing options you have in the Photo Editor.

Little over a week into owning the S24 and so far it seems like a decent phone. I really miss two features my last phone had and they are chop to turn on flashlight and rock to turn on camera. I thought this was an Android thing but apparently is was just a Motorola feature. Some bad things about this phone is that I tried wireless charging on a charge station(not a Samsung brand) and I fell asleep for about an hour and woke up to a phone that I could almost fry and egg on, luckily it didn't seem to cause any ill affects to the phone. Also, one can't really use it while it is charging because it overheats bigtime, even when using a lower watt(less than 10w) charger. My last phone would get warm but not this hot. The reason I bought this phone was my previous phone ... MoreLittle over a week into owning the S24 and so far it seems like a decent phone. The reason I bought this phone was my previous phone that is about 2 years old the battery was getting weak and needed to be charged twice a day. This phone the battery isn't much better because of the capacity, last one was 5000mah and this is 4000mah. If I play a game on this phone for about a hour or so it will eat up half the battery, it's a puzzle game and didn't think it would stress the battery on this phone that much, I could have just as well stuck with the old phone for a while longer.I saw reviews of the how the screen colors don't look good, after I did some changes the screen colors look great. I even have to turn the brightness down to less than half during the day but this is inside. I have yet to try it outside in the sunlight, even my last phone I couldn't see the screen on full brightness but I think with the brightness level this has I think I should be able to see it.Not really impressed with a number of the Samsung apps, most of the normal apps I use such as phone, message, clock, photos, even the keyboard I switch to Google. Really disappointed that the phone app didn't have a built in visual voicemail feature, I even switched it out for Google Phone and for some reason the option to turn on visual voicemail is greyed out and locked. This phone uses a separate voicemail app.So far I am pleased enough not to return it. Just disappointed in the features my last phone had that this one doesn't, and this one was triple the cost.

Although not the heaviest of users there has been some jumping in and out of media to games, back to work all without fail or lag.My battery has continued to exceed a day after the initial first few days of learning and optimising to my usage. First few days was rough though. But I am finding that I have no fear to use my phone intensively from day start to end as the battery typically carries through the night with around 15-20% remaining. The S24, albeit the entry model, has a camera that is more than suffice to capture great detailed in the moment shots with some simple editing features to notch the result up a bit too, although I feel for a flagship phone it could be a smidge better at this price range. Removal of unwanted objects etc in photos was a really nice touch and up there with the competition offering similar, all without need to know how to edit proficiently.I was apprehensive about moving back into the android space after being warped by another manufacturer for so long. Still adjusting but Samsung switch made this easy also. The integration to my tablet was something I had hoped for but through my excitement forgot... until, I received a phone call to it from my phone. This was done I assume through WiFi and my Samsung account. But genuinely seamless, so much so I hadn't noticed it had happened. I would be interested to see how this synchronisation carries through the full range, i.e. laptops to enhance my digital life.Great device, reasonably priced but as always with tech there is desirables.(Made an unboxing but file size does not permit)

It was an exciting moment opening the box of the S24! Coming from the S21, it was a much needed upgrade and it hasn't disappointed.First impressions, A solid build, lovely titanium edges and an ergonomic design that is sure to last the test of time. A big upgrade over the S21.When turned on, the display had that WOW factor with bright colours and bold contrasts fitting of the AMOLED panel, an absolute delight to use and makes for a pleasant viewing experience. The camera also impresses, our test being an overwhelming amount of Cat photos which may not have been to their liking, but for us it creates memories that will last a lifetime! The camera also impresses, our test being an overwhelming amount of Cat photos which may not have been to their liking, but for us it creates memories that will last a lifetime! Performance is typical Samsung over the past few years with steady upgrades and optimisations that add up to make a huge difference, no lagging with high intensity tasks a breeze. The big step up has got to be the AI features, Live transcribe was unique and as someone who is bi-lingual, it was precise and accurate! Being able to talk and record notes has been a life saver as well and helped me with my terrible memory! As the typical camera user who takes a massive amount of photos on the go and very quickly, the use of AI to be able to quickly edit a photo to look it's best and share all over social media has become a new obsession as I constantly look for new scenes and viewpoints, A quick tap of the stars transforms photos from a 7/10 to a 10/10!Overall, A typical Samsung device that is an impressive all rounder, seamless connectivity with my other devices along with the AI features have enhanced the experience and I look forward to testing more AI features as we see them update. Only drawbacks relate to accessories, lack of a charging plug and lack of tough cases meant I had to look elsewhere however, this is only a minor complaint in what is a fantastic device!
This is Samsung's first foray into the AI space after another well-known mobile device manufacturer has been creating AI-powered CPUs for their phones for a few years now. I have one of those phones so will be comparing the latest Samsung flagship to this.Visually, the Galaxy S24 packs a punch in a compact form. It's a beautiful combination of flat glass screen (gone are the curved edges of older Galaxy series phones which have always been a frustration rather than a feature) and dark brushed aluminium wrapped around the sides (on the black version). The phone’s sleek design includes minimal bezels around the screen which maximises screen real estate whilst keeping the whole package as nice and small as possible. The phone’s sleek design includes minimal bezels around the screen which maximises screen real estate whilst keeping the whole package as nice and small as possible. In an age of ever-expanding and unwieldy phone sizes, the S24 presents as a very conveniently sized package without compromise. As with all Samsung phones, you know it has a fantastic Screen - the sharp and vivid display on the S24 enhances your viewing experience - whether you’re streaming, browsing, or gaming, the vibrant screen won’t disappoint. The S24 boasts all-new Galaxy AI and Google circle-to-search tools. Whether you’re curious about a web page, a YouTube video, or a photo you just took, the Circle to Search feature answers your queries effortlessly. Plus, the AI translation works like magic, bridging language barriers when travelling which is extremely helpful for me as I frequently travel for work!Something that has been becoming more of an important feature on phones these days is the ability to quick charge (especially for me in an airport). The S24’s fast charging supports up to 45W fast chargers which will fully charge the phone in approximately an hour. While the cameras might not outshine some competitors, the S24 offers more zoom features than most and a variety of shooting modes to enhance your photos including AI enhancements. With a promise of seven years of Android updates, this could be Samsung’s best affordable Galaxy S phone yet in the long-term when other phones are only being supported for a few years after which they seem to mysteriously slow down!In summary, the Galaxy S24 is a pocket powerhouse that balances performance, style, and practicality. 📱✨
The Galaxy S24 is, for me, an upgrade from the Galaxy S22. The phone has a premium feel, with an aluminium frame, and I like the Sapphire Blue back that I chose, which is only available when ordering from Samsung direct. The S24 has an increased battery size and a 6.2 inch screen but the phone still feels light and easy to hold and work with a single hand. The screen is extremely clear and bright, with a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz.Two things worth mentioning, although neither are an issue for me, are that there is no expandable memory (for my use, the 256 GB should be ample) and there is no headphone socket. It was easy for me to set up the S24 and transfer data from the old phone automatically. This included transferring the apps across, although for security everything needs to be set up with existing passwords before the Fingerprint ID for different apps can be used. One of my favourite new features of the S24 is the AI Circle to Search Feature, which allows you to find out information on whatever is on your screen (whether, photo, video or text) by drawing a circle around the relevant image/text with your finger.I’m still getting used to the cameras on the S24 but the photos I have taken to date have been crisp and bright and the colours in the images are true to life. I like using the object eraser and the background blur features to personalise and improve photos.I have a Galaxy Watch 4 and it was easy to pair this watch with the S24 and I am enjoying using the Health features and tracking my sleep, particularly as I live with a couple of chronic conditions.Although I have only had the phone 10 days, it already feels like my best friend and, two years since I bought my previous Samsung Galaxy, it feels like technology has grown and improved so much in that time.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 is an unremarkable phone at first glance. Its 6.2 inch AMOLED slots neatly within the expectations for an average consumer in 2024, whilst its 256 Gigabytes of base storage is perfectly ample for all but the most demanding of mobile photographers, gamers or videographers. The 4000 mAh battery is dependable, and the colored Aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass back bears what can only be described by as a tired design, adorned by every member of Samsung's line up at every price range. However, look beyond the first glance, and there is absolutely no denying the brilliance of this year's flagship compact phone from Samsung. That display that at first glance seems to just meet expectations? It's a brilliantly bright AMOLED that renders colors with a punch that is almost overwhelming at first glance, and which refreshes at a silken-smooth 120Hz. The panel is bordered with bezels that are so razor-thin that they give the phone an air of refinement and subtle class from the very first glance—the entirety of the gorgeous screen remains completely unadorned with any obnoxious obstructions, save for a tiny hole-punch selfie camera. And whilst the back panel does indeed resemble every single member of Samsung's lineup from the past year, its smooth, satin-touch back exudes a reassuring feel of quality whilst still maintaining a sleek and minimalist profile that renders the device instantly recognisable as a Samsung. Moreover, you can color that back panel in a number of distinctive hues and tones that range from understated and clean to just outright fun—I chose to split the difference with my model with the Cobal Violet finish, which I found to be just the right balance between unique and dressy in every lighting condition. All in all, the phone feels built like a tank, but with all of the grace and composure of a Porche 911—every surface feels meticulously engineered and crafted whilst still being light and dainty enough for me to easily wield the phone with just one hand. Wins for the Samsung come to be far more than just skin deep though—the S24 on Samsung’s OneUI 6.1 is the smoothest I can remember a Galaxy phone being, and it brings all of Samsung’s trademark software customizability and tidy visual design to a platform that feels smooth and fluid at every swipe. The last version of OneUI I had the pleasure of using was OneUI 4 based on Android 12, and whilst OneUI 6.1 still very evidently maintains a distinctive and coherent Galaxy character, the entirety of the experience feels so much more refined—much is made online of the improvements Samsung have brought to the animations, but in my mind the sheer brilliance of OneUI goes much further than just the nice few frames that play when you swipe to close an app. Almost every substantial action you take is rewarded by a reassuring vibration from the phone’s excellent haptic feedback system, whilst the new quick panel and fonts look distinctive without being obnoxious in its branding—everything just feels well-considered, almost articulate. In short, the software just feel deliberate—the entire experience exudes confidence in its identity, and it is executed in a manner so refined and intuitive that it has honestly become my favorite skew of Android. Beyond this, however, it is impossible to ignore the real headline feature of the S24 series this year—Galaxy AI. If, like me, you’ve come to find yourself tired of the word ‘AI’ being plastered on every product you’ve come across over the past few years, I get it—at this point, AI is a somewhat tired trope that has lost its meaning in a sea of marketing buzz and mediocre products. The S24s, however, aren’t quite at that point, though—Circle to Search, for example, is a legitimately well-thought out tool that pairs brilliantly with the replacement of Google Assistant for the ChatGPT-slaying Gemini chatbot on Android phones, and the summarization features on Samsung Internet have legitimately caused me to consciously chose Internet over Google Chrome. Live translation over phone is also a fantastic idea, although it is curtailed by being finnicky to set up and requiring you to select a language in the settings menu of the dialer before initiating a call. I found many features to be like this—they aren’t clearly advertised to the user, and I only found out about them later, when making a conscious effort to find out more about Galaxy AI on the internet. In my mind, in order to appeal to a more general audience, Samsung needs to very clearly advertise the presence and utility of Galaxy AI within its own apps, and make them more accessible to users simply using the phone in daily life, rather than hiding them behind menus that makes taking full advantage of your phone a conscious effort rather than a natural part of a daily workflow.Driving all of these efforts is the Exynos 2400 processor, a truly mighty ten core ARM based beast that performs brilliantly in day-to-day performance and a spot of gaming. Whilst I don’t have a phone equipped with this year’s very latest Qualcomm chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, to compare the 2400 with, the handset’s performance, much like the rest of the phone, has been dependable, reliable, and honestly somewhat unremarkable in that I never once had to think about it. I never was left wanting more power, and throughout my entire experience of the phone, including setup, the chip never heated beyond the slightest of warming, and even then, the heat dissipated very quickly once I stopped pushing the device. This seems to speak of a fairly efficient system, then, which was verified easily by my experience—only a few days after setup, I went for a road trip in which the S24 lasted me the entire day away from the plug after I left the house with just over 50% battery. Granted, I didn’t use the phone particularly much—music playback, navigation and the occasional text messages and videos were just about the extent of the device’s hardship, but for my use case, the S24 delivers absolutely outstanding battery life within that petite frame and can just about last me two days of fairly regular use. Finally, then, the cameras—how are they? In my experience, Samsung has made very sensible decisions when it comes to the hardware. The S24 is equipped with a 50 MP Wide camera, a 10 MP 3x telephoto and a 12 MP ultra-wide angle camera. This setup always delivers very pleasing, fairly vibrant photos in good lighting, with appealing if not quite natural colors in almost all lighting conditions—I did occasionally find myself missing the contrastier, more striking colors of some competitors, but the regardless was far more consistent, offering the same tasteful profiles and overall ‘look’ amongst almost S24 all zoom ranges and scenarios. The main camera produces in good lighting photos with well-considered and balanced color tone, although I found that it often tended towards warmer photos, as well as plenty of detail. The ultrawide is precisely what you would expect and produces photos in much the same grain as the main camera, whilst the telephoto offers a distinctive edge over other phones in its price bracket through sheer range—the S24 far outpaces any other phone in its category in Australia through simple distance. I do find the 3X portraits to be a little lacking in detail and stabilization, though, meaning that most of my portraits ended up just being either from the main camera or the selfie. At night, however, I found the cameras to be somewhat lacking in processing—the S24 sharpened photos to the point that they were blatantly artificial, and faces looked altered, whilst the scene was brightened in a manner that appeared overly unnatural. I understand that Samsung here is trying to extract as much detail as possible from the scene, but in moments like this I strongly preferred handsets that maintained the dramatic shadows and obscured colors present in real life even at the expense of some sharpness and detail. Otherwise? The S24’s setup is simple, reliable, and easy to use, and it boasts a versatility that no other phone in its price bracket can match here in Australia. It really is a well-considered setup that delivers everything you could possibly want from a smartphone camera, and would be my first pick for its price just for the flexibility of it. The selfie camera, too, is a proper unit, capable of 4K recording and which produces flattering photos in just about all passable lighting—it is genuinely refreshing to see a handset that pays proper attention to the selfie camera. So, all in all, the S24 is a contradiction in beautiful cobalt purple—it’s the most unremarkable phone you can imagine, yet this in itself is a brilliant achievement. With the S24, Samsung absolutely nailed everything the average consumer could come to ask for, and contained it within a handset that is light, elegant and immaculately constructed. It takes beautiful photos, has a screen that outpaces everything else in its class (not a very high bar to clear, though), shoots great photos in almost every condition, lasts all day and then some and keeps its cool all day, every day. It’s not hard to like, even love the S24—on the surface, it has almost no personality, no fun quirks or gimmicks other than ‘AI’ to sell you at the carrier store or the local JB. But, as we all have come to know, gimmicks soon grow old, new toys wear with age and there always comes a new one next year. The S24 however, remains a delight to use even when the elation of a new phone well wears off, or when the gimmicks grow old—it is slick, well-considered and tasteful in a graceful, minimalist fashion both inside and out. Yes, the phone has very little personality to speak of—but that is its personality—it is one that is elegant, deliberate, and reliable—that is to say, nothing short of brilliant.Well done, Samsung.
Just with the opening of the phone, I couldn't hide my excitement. Samsung's newest titan, the S24, came with a style. As soon as you open the box, you have the feeling of diving into a new adventure. A magnificent difference was the size of the phone. Compared to my S20 Ultra, this phone is just more comfortable and easy to work with. Its functionality and performance are more than surprising. Only from one charge, the phone managed to last me two days which is just phenomenal, as battery life is usually a struggle which experienced with my S20 Ultra. The fast response times that the S24 evidently convey are amazing. Whether it is games or simple processes such as using multiple applications at once, the S24 just doesn't struggle at all. The circle to search and the tap to slow motion are my favourite features. You cannot imagine how much they can optimise your work. Also great for drawing and painting, it has made drawing logos etc so easy on the go when the inspiration is there. The one thing that would be a great feature would be a super fast charging mode. I was very excited to receive and open my new Samsung S24 as I have been hesitant about whether to get a new phone or not and my phone was choice was going to be the S24.My very first impression of the phone is that its sleek and just the right size for me.I’ve only been using it for 1 week, so don’t believe I have utilised or come across all the features of the phone, but its given me a good enough view of whether I like it or not.The screen is vibrant and I’ve been very impressed with how quick the fingerprint sensor is. There has only been 1 time where it has not registered my finger which is impressive. Like any phone, fingerprints get onto the screen easily, but so far they have also been quite easy to clean off. There has only been 1 time where it has not registered my finger which is impressive. Like any phone, fingerprints get onto the screen easily, but so far they have also been quite easy to clean off. The facial recognition is also fast and superior to my previous Samsung. The speed of the phone is noticeable, and everything works quickly. I love having the bonus double memory and the downside of 256GB is that I didn’t do much of a clean-up when I moved everything over to this new phone! From what I have seen of the camera, it takes good photos and there is a cool feature where you can watch videos in slow motion by touching near the top of the video.Battery life is impressive and I can get through a whole day with the battery going down to around 40%; that includes listening to music, instant messaging, using social media and checking emails.I understand that most new phones don’t come with chargers anymore and the S24 is no different and besides the phone itself, there was also a USBC to USBC cable, which was helpful for the phone transfer.I’m not a huge fan of the raise frames around the camera lenses on the back as they collect dirt and are a pain to cleanI was also disappointed, but not entirely surprised that the phone does not have a headphone jack, as did still use the one on my old phone. For all the other benefits of having a new phone, I can forgo this.Overall, I am very pleased with this phone and have no regrets getting it. I feel I’ve made the right choice for me and the positives far outweigh any negatives. I’d certainly recommended for anyone who is looking for the latest flagship phone and doesn’t want anything too big or that doesn’t fold.
